Matt Young’s Tuesday Gloucester Park Preview Posted on October 5, 2026October 5, 2026 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 Open race to kick things off, bit of speed off the front line which could bring STRIKE MASTER (10) into the race, he has been racing devoid of luck and looks like a solid closer in the concluding stages. Plenty of early speed with AMERICAN TYPHOON (1) who will be looking to hold the top and DAMAGE DONE (4) and ITSOKTOBEGREY (5) wanting to get forward, if ITSOKTOBEGREY (5) can get himself to the top, he will be hard to beat but would need DAMAGE DONE (4) to cross to hand up to him. ROCKABILITY (7) can fly out of the gate as well and would be the one to beat if he could lead but plenty of things need to go right early. FUEGO CRUZADO (11) will be running on with FIORD (3) and IL BANDITO (12) is capable but is first up. Tips: 10 5 7 4 Suggested Bet: STRIKE MASTER (10) each way. Race 2 ALWAYSBFRANK (1) will be looking to lead this, if he can hold up, I think he can win first up for Eugene Harris, distance will suit her free-wheeling style if he can hold the early speed of MISTER KOPA (5) who can sizzle out and is suited at the shorter distances. MACH FREEWAY (12) will be hoping for some tempo, he is racing soundly and will be running on. VISITING HOURS (3) racing consistently and looks a novelty chance with the in and out DOUGS LEGACY (4) with other chances including ICY COLD (8), CHERRY ON THE CAKE (9) and BIG BOZZ (10). Tips: 1 5 12 3 Suggested Bet: ALWAYSBFRANK (1) to win. Race 3 SKINNY DIPPIN (9) was outstanding winning the WA Oaks, incredibly placed by Team Bond to beat the handicapper and get into this race and although it won’t be a walk in the park, she should get the win here given she has pulled up well from Friday. TEXAS STORM (3) appears the danger in the race as he is a big chance to work to the top and can run some good sectionals. AMERICAN FALCON (11) will get a good run through from the back row and be running on well. MAJOR MOVES (5) has depth and must be respected. MANUKA BAY (7) was a top 3 finisher in the WA Oaks and must be respected in this as well. Intriguing race. Tips: 9 3 11 5 Suggested Bet: SKINNY DIPPIN/TEXAS STORM to Quinella. Race 4 SPIRIT OF SAHARA (2) is knocking on the door with a couple of solid efforts in recent races, has decent speed and looks the likely leader and be a major player in this. FLOAT MY BOAT (3) is good enough to win but can throw in a few tricks from time to time, go well in this. ARUM (6) was a good winner last time out, he’s got plenty of ability and can go on with it, respect in this. HEAVY METAL HAMMER (9) could be an improver and must be included in the novelties with the consistent ZLATO (8) and ADMIRAL DARCY (7). Tips: 2 6 3 9 Suggested Bet: SPIRIT OF SAHARA (2) to win. Race 5 CORDERO (2) rarely gets a good draw and will be driven hard to try and get the top; his form has been decent enough given he has been coming from the back of the field and think he will be a sharp improver in this. DELULU (7) has had races run against her and will appreciate this grade and might be put into the event, expect a forward showing. SLIPALONG SAINT (1) has the good draw and looks somewhat dangerous late in running. CHARIVARI (4) will head forward and be on speed, ran well when coming with one run which is a positive going forward as he climbs in grade. RAKERO RAIDER (5) is ready to win but requires luck in certain parts of his race, grade suits. BURGHLEY SHARD (3) always a novelty chance. Tips: 2 7 1 5 Suggested Bet: CORDERO (2) to win. Race 6 DUNKALLEDY (6) returns and has good speed, good ability and looks hard to beat on return in this grade, likely to be short enough. RAVENOUS ROMEO (9) has been brilliant since returning but faces the river draw which could sink his winning chances, top 3 player again. FILLMYPOCKET (1) had no luck last time out and has the good draw, fitter and looks a good place chance. OUR SERAPHINA (10) ideally drawn and is second up and is a novelty chance. LUCK FROM ABOVE (11) and MONTERIO (12) both novelty chances but might be one spot too far back to penetrate the placings. Tips: 6 9 1 10 Suggested Bet: FILLMYPOCKET (1) to place. Race 7 JE SUIS LOUIE (3) was one of my top picks from the early 2yo’s in the state from the trials, striking looking type but boy did he have an attitude, one trial back after some time away and he has impressed again and has the draw advantage over his rivals. ULTIMATE SHOT (9) is probably the most talented maiden in the state, this isn’t a walk in the park, but he has been racing the elite crop and will go well. TREACHEROUS PRINCE (7) trialled well on a wet day at Pinjarra and looks to have good ability, respect in this. TOKYO SUNRISE (1) still learning but is a novelty chance with JIMMYS RAINBOW (4) and UMBERTO (8). Tips: 3 9 7 4 Suggested Bet: JE SUIS LOUIS (3) to win. Race 8 Another open race. BLIND EDITION (10) looks likely to get a soft run again and could be dangerous with even luck again, he’s holding consistent form. ALTAIR STAR (1) nearly got the cash last time out but lacked early speed, which was costly, might be sharper off the gate this week. VICIOUSLY UNKIND (2) will be looking to try and cross with EASTON QUALITY (3) who are both chances if they find the rail. ZUEDE (5) will be running on but needs luck with CARA DIANA (11) who will be running on. Tips: 10 1 3 11 Suggested Bet: BLIND EDITION (10) each way. Race 9 Hard to go past PRINCESS DIAMOND (8) not only is she winning and winning well but she is gaining valuable racing craft with every start she has, suitable grade and looks hard to beat again. BULL SHARK BETTY (5) was solid given how hard she pulled and the run she had last time out, has good early speed and should be close enough in the run. ELLEOFAREACTOR (1) has the nice draw, not at her best but can be improved from the draw. SNAKEY BAY (6), EYE BETTER (7), SHES A MARE (9) all capable but run from tough draws and TORREVEAN AMY (10) is a novelty chance. Tips: 8 5 1 10 Suggested Bet: PRINCESS DIAMOND/BULL SHARK BETTY to Exacta.
