Scott Embry’s Saturday Moora Preview Posted on October 1, 2026October 1, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry Race 1 RIBELLATO is a 17 start maiden who will be relatively close to even money – doesn’t sound overly convincing – but his recent 1000m Belmont Park barrier trial was strong enough and most of his best runs in his career have been on the fresh side early in a prep. Tara Atherden is riding really well and her 3kg claim keeps him down at a winnable weight in a very moderate maiden. ANY QUESTIONS tried hard at Mingenew and was beaten only 1L by Populism. Should be in the firing line for a long way. DAISIESFORTHELADYS is fit and coming back from 2200 to 1600 and now to 1500. So Jess Gray can ride her aggressively. KINGSLEY TOWN next best. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – RIBELLATO WIN Race 2 SNIP OF GOSSIP was never going to be overly competitive in a 60+ Graduation behind emerging types like Streak of God. Did a good job to beat a few home and was only 2L off Oly’s Choice in the barrier trial. This is a far more suitable race and grade for him and expect him to go close after the Sharni Webster claim. AH KUM has been going along quite well recently. Ran second in a 44+ 1500 at Pinjarra four back to Military Jane and then in a pair of C1 races was only 2L off stablemate and Cup fancy Grandads Addiction and then 2L off The Scholar (races at Kalgoorlie on Thursday). The last time he dropped from 2200 to 1500 was that run at Pinjarra so he’s shown previously that he enjoys the change up and drawn out wide might be a bless in disguise for him. SWISHGOBANGO has been a handy horse for Sean Rains. Tries hard. QUEEN NARDI can sprint well fresh. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – SNIP OF GOSSIP WIN Race 3 OUR DEGREE ran second to Vampi Queen in a barrier trial (now a maiden and C3 winner) and then on debut was a $31 chance in a race that contained sharp 3 year old sprinting type Pistone. Very happy to follow the Pistone form to a Moora maiden and Our Degree had a genuine excuse being forced to race wide throughout and was entitled to fade out late. All things considered, 7L beaten margin wasn’t too bad. LEG GODT has her first start for new trainer Peter Bamford and if she reproduced her third placing to Sassy Snippet from a 1400m maiden at Pinjarra she’d be winning this. GENTLEMAN’S CODE has always shown glimpses here and there. Barrier trialled back on 17 August behind Jemconi who beat Official Business to break her maiden. Enough to work with for this. AL’S GAL was never in the race at Mingenew last weekend. Forgive and forget. Numbers: 4 – 10 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – OUR DEGREE EACHWAY Race 4 CLIMB ON TOP has had a wonderful season already with Peter Bamford. He won a 70+ at Broome first-up, ran third to Now You See Me and Cruise to Victory second-up, and then flopped at Derby when crossed (game over out of the gates) before bouncing back brilliantly at Broome over the round. Proven himself both a lower grade Saturday grass horse and now a high-class dirt commodity. TEABISCUIT is 1 from 1 at Moora and that shouldn’t be undervalued. Expect that Tara Atherden will be on a jump and run mission and that will see him in front for a long way. BONNY ROCK finished a narrow third at Kalgoorlie in a 58+ only three back and raced wide throughout that day too. OCEAN OUTLAW is always thereabouts. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – CLIMB ON TOP WIN Race 5 HARD QUESTIONS won the Mingenew Cup last weekend and see no reason why he can’t complete the Moora Cup double 7 days later. He won back to back races at Carnarvon to start his preparation (56+ 1400 & 68+ 1600) before later running second in the Carnarvon Cup to Pharoah Show. He’s as good on grass as he is on dirt and whether it’s a 2000m Cup or an 1800m Cup it doesn’t worry him. GRANDADS ADDICTION has really turned a corner lately. He doesn’t have any real change up speed in his legs but he’s got a grinding will to win now. Can be put into the race and will keep whacking away. LIEN HYPHEN ran really well first-up, was flat second-up and then was solid again third-up. Going well. LUTZ has been on the Country Cups scene for years. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – HARD QUESTIONS WIN Race 6 CATCH THE RED EYE will find this so much easier than his recent outings. Looked in for a great prep firs-tup when finishing 1L off them in a C5 1000 (for a horse who has absolutely no wet track form whatsoever) but since then hasn’t raced to the same level unfortunately. In his most recent outing he was beaten 6.6L but behind horses like Hurricane Harley, Champagne Crusader and Snow God. Won’t know himself in a 56+ at Moora. MARS MISSION took 17 runs in the campaign to finally break a winless streak that dated back to November 2023 at Rosehill Gardens. Amazing how often those types suddenly win back to back races. WEAPONS HOT is jump and run. Hard to run down if they allow him to lead uncontested. MAKWELL SMART loved Moora last year breaking his maiden in a canter. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – CATCH THE RED EYE WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,4,10 1,5,6,8 1,3,5 1,2,3
