Glenn Ingram’s Wednesday Sandown Preview

Race 1

FOXENBERG was in/out a couple of times before resuming at Sale and was put under pressure a long way out sticking on in 2nd. A nice pipe opener for this and drawn well with blinkers going on. WALTER SPUR has found a home on the chute start and can be forgiven last start, best on wet, he’ll be hoping there’s still juice in the track early. SIMPLY STEFFI resumes from a spell and has been quietly ridden at the jumpouts, interesting use of the claimer, watch betting. FEHMARN is a genuine 1000m horse and in the mix also.

Selections: 5,7,10,4

Suggested Bet: FOXENBERG each way

Race 2

There’s a few chances in an open race, early market has seen a few specked. Safe play is the known quantity REGAL AMBITION, luckless on debut at Ballarat when too far back in the run and launched home. Trials have been good since returning and is the one to beat. FULL CONFIDENCE is a well-bred Vinnie filly with the McEvoy’s, latest trial suggest she’s ready to go the races and perform. STIPULATION has race experience and now fitness after a recent debut, made some late ground, tough draw. ACE STRIKE has made an impression at the jumpouts, watch betting.

Selections: 8,6,9,1

Suggested Bet: Exotics

Race 3

Typically even staying race with an even speed expected, HAALAND likely to lead this field, PARVARTI PARTY handy early. Two stayers ready to win are BLACK PEPPERMINT and LEGEND BEAST, one wants it dry, the other wet. Drying conditions leading up to Wednesday favour the former obviously. Track still a H8 at time of writing. NOTOLOOK is a progressive stayer on the rise, set a brutal task to win this off 43 days out, stable one of few who can probably can do it. CHIHULY racing ok, rarely wins.

Selections: 1,7,11,3

Suggested Bet: BLACK PEPPERMINT 1 x 3

Race 4

The form around GOLD CHARIOT and EMPEROR TZU is the obvious play in an ordinary race. The disruptor may be MUKHTALIF who can go forward and lead them up and that gives him his best winning chance. FLAG FLYER is likely to need another run but expecting improvement second-up with a track upgrade, Jake Noonan has a terrific record on the gelding. FEDERER is becoming costly and gate one is no advantage with his racing style. Hard to make a case for others.

Selections: 11,10,3,7

Suggested Bet: Exotics

Race 5

TALES OF TIME has looked good at the jumpouts for a 1000m horse with some upside. Wide draw no negative and a lethal stable/jockey combination (sometimes.) SUNBLISS beat an average maiden field at Cranbourne on debut and was heavily-supoorted to do so. Liked the jumpouts and Jamie Melham sticks with her. Again, another suited to 1000m, suspect one of the two wins. JACARANDA improved between runs and now third-up with a fitness edge on key opposition. MYSTICAL REALM was a good debut winner at Sale and can go on with it.

Selections: 1,9,2,7

Suggested Bet: Exotics

Race 6

Talented mare FIELDELO returns from a long break and was her usual self at the jumpouts leading in, how she trials is how she races and looks to have found a good race first-up when she excels and is a proven weight carrier at 1000m. With a stack of speed on, VAIN CHAMPAGNE has the quality to be in the finish, jumping out well between runs, some hope. ARABELLA STAR is a progressive type and noted out of the jumpouts at Flem, give her a chance to launch at them late. So too EGERTON, has jumped out like a horse that can perform first-up.

Selections: 2,4,9,7

Suggested Bet: FIELDELO win

Race 7

Mass scratching’s leave TENNESSEE BOUND with a great opportunity to bounce back after a disappointing ride last start from the gun apprentice who would like his time again, although no match for the winner. The stable are the best at keeping horses up and fresh and she can lead this field or stalk stablemate the classy HERE TO SHOCK resuming.  PERSIAN SPIRIT is unlucky the meeting was abandoned on Saturday as conditions were perfect, now a drying surface works against. WARNIE hit the line strongly in the Regal Roller, needs the speed on from stablemates.

Selections: 11,3,6,2

Suggested Bet: TENNESSEE BOUND win

Race 8

Hard to knock CHANGING COLOURS, new stable has taught her how to stick her nose out and win and keeping her fresh between runs seems to be the key to her recent form. Drying track with the big weight makes her task easier from Saturday and clear top pick. SOMEWHERE has been racing well without luck and sure to be competitive again. CASTLE ON HIGH and speed runner STAY SILENT both winning chances, the latter needs it wet.

Selections: 5,15,9,4

Suggested Bet: CHANGING COLOURS win

Race 9

Keen on HAPPY LINK if we get into the soft 5/6 range with the way she’s been jumping out and her last start effort when unlucky not to win. Just needs the weather gods on side. SAVITRI looks forward enough to play fresh after a recent jumpout at Kerang where she was given a push along. Has a touch of class and that may be enough in an even race. HI VAL and CASTELLITO next best.

Selections: 7,2,8,6

Suggested Bet: HAPPY LINK win

Race 10

Best of the day to round out the card. BUCCLEUCH made a statement win returning from a spell after showing his early career form at the preliminaries around country Victoria. Again well-placed and drawing wide no knock late in the day, versatile horse and Egan can place him where needed. KAHHOF returns from a let-up and has Shinn up from a good draw, loves it here and holding his form a definite threat. STUNG is a keen-going horse and flies fresh, picked a tough field to beat this time. FEAR NO EVIL goes forward and gives a sight.

Selections: 2,3,15,14

Suggested Bet: BUCCLEUCH win

MULTI: R6#2 win, R8#5 win, R10#2 win
