Scott Embry’s Thursday York Preview Posted on October 7, 2025October 7, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 AUTHORATIVE is a long time maiden but this is the weakest race he has seen in his life and his first ever maiden handicap. He’s fit, he’s through the right form reference race (Linchpin, Hoya Destroyer, Vexatious Rose) and this is lengths easier than his recent outings. Dangerous to getting too deeply involved in a 20 start maiden but this just looks his race on paper. LATORIO has Trevor Andrews heading to York on a Thursday afternoon and beaten 3.7L Social Affair, Toscano and Extreme Ruler is good enough to make a contest of it. MY KRYPTONITE was having his first run in 707 days when going round at 200-1 at Belmont and fading back to 10th after breezing. If they allow him to cross and lead he could be a big improver second-up. PROVE ME WRONG was always going to be run off her legs at Toodyay. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – AUTHORATIVE WIN RACE 2 OCTOBER ROX won a barrier trial at Belmont back in April by 2L and that was after finishing third to Heeza Phoenix a fortnight earlier. On debut went to a 3 year old 0MWLY and finished less than 3L off Long Service Leaf, Conchetta’s Dream and Fila Mia (goes round favourite at Northam Wednesday). It’s far and away the best form in the race and with shades on he’ll surely be very popular in betting. EL ALAMEIN covered a mountain of extra ground last start and was entitled to put up the white flag late. Paul Jordan has a great York Strike Rate across many years. LEADER OF THE PACK will need a lot of luck from a terrible draw but isn’t the worst. SHEZASEER has had a lot of trials leading into her return. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – OCTOBER ROX WIN RACE 3 RAINLINE is double accepted for Race 7 at Northam on Wednesday and this 52+ at York on Thursday. If they scratch her to save for this then she’ll be worth following having run minors to Eliteone (now a 66+ winner) and Ain’tsobad in two outings so far this prep. She’s ready to win. FAYOLA BABY broke her maiden at 1400m in race that has produced 9 subsequent winners. Wouldn’t read too much into the recent trials, especially the last which was a 72+ trial and she’s only a c58 mare. Watch for any market moves. PRETTY DIVINE is always competitive in these 46+/52+/58+ type races, especially at York where she won by 6.75L back in April under Sharni Webster. URQUHARTS BLUFF can also be ridden for speed. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – RAINLINE WIN RACE 4 TROPICAL SUN was the most impressive of the Toodyay winners/runners who clash in this and actually drops back in grade second-up into a 46+ from a 52+. Was her first run for 52 days and she’s run well at the track previously. Enough to like, but has to lump a big weight impost. HELLAINE could sneak under the radar. Only win was when leading and this is a race that for a 46+ 1100 at York doesn’t actually have that much speed and pressure. Think that this could be a race where they let her run? SOLAR SYSTEM is actually 60+ 0MW placed to Richanco at Bunbury. Has been horrible his last two but returns fresh for a new yard. NATIVE FLOWER can turn the tables on Unlikely Hero with the 1.5kg weight swing. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – TROPICAL SUN WIN RACE 5 HIGH PRECISION is an 8 year old mare, having her 11th run of the campaign and is yet to win past 1760m but it’s hard to ignore just how well she’s been going on the Goldfields. Won a C2 1720 by 2L and then two starts later won a C2 1400m dropping back in trip. She’s in career best form and this race is thin. HEAPS OF MOOLAH should have no troubles kicking through to hold the lead and that makes him the obvious improver. ET TU BRUTE went around in a Group Three at Flemington for Damian Lane in 2024 when 4L adrift of Riff Rocket. Decent fall from grace that! ONLY US is a difficult horse to ride but get the feeling the undulating style of York might actually suit him? Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – HIGH PRECISION WIN RACE 6 RIVERCREST MAGIC joins the yard of Mack Hall who has enjoyed a really successful last 12 months, with 18 winners in the last 365 day period. They’re nearly exclusively tried horses who he can rejuvenate and this mare is actually going along alright and has a decent enough turn of foot for a 46+ at York. Watch for her getting home hard late. LINE OF THOUGHT won a maiden leading and winning and since has had two starts when attacking the leader from the breeze. DISCO KICKS showed at Toodyay that she isn’t just a one trick pony. PRINCE AMONGST MEN is stretched at 1300mm, especially with 62kg. Numbers: 10 – 7 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – RIVERCREST MAGIC WIN RACE 7 BATTLE COMMANDER does deserve to win one. Three starts ago was beaten a short head by Great Edition and now Westspeed Platinum winner Saturday Sesh and then last time out he has again been beaten the narrowest of margins behind Capable Angel who has gone on to win the Toodyay Cup. He’s fit, he’s firing and he’s well placed into a 52+. POLYVANOYA races up on the speed and the time figures out of her Toodyay win were actually really strong. She’s a little trier. PRODUCTIVE finds this easier than the C3 he contested at Bunbury. Only concern is the tight corners for him. FOREVER DREAMING is a classy type of mare for this grade (G3 placed to Yonga Lass!) and should again be highly competitive. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – BATTLE COMMANDER WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3,4,5,9,10 1,2,3,4 3,7,10 1,2,4,6,10 Market Market
