Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview

RACE 1

THE SHARERGHINI had two runs for Dion Luciani in his initial preparation and finsihed 5L off Santanova and then 7L off Diamond Whisper. Big beaten margins but behind handy fillies and the recent barrier trial suggested he was in good order. These Kal maidens are getting really thin. ALABAMA ELEGANCE finished only 1L off Scenic George in a bunched finish at Northam a fortnight ago. Can hold up from barrier 1 and is the main danger. JEKYLL ISLAND should be winning a maiden soon. HERLS is well bred and well named – but may just be on the tubby side.

Numbers: 4 – 5 – 2 – 6

Suggested Bet – THE SHARERGHINI WIN

RACE 2

INNER JOY leaves Simon Miller and heads to new trainer Rickie Brown with residual fitness. The effort two back behind Ma Ma Belle had something to like about it and then understandably was no match for subsequent Raconteur Stakes winner Opportunistic last time out. KING OF FRANCE was eye-balled a long way from home last weekend and fought on okay back towards the fence. On the 7 day back-up, straight to the top and looks one of the main players again. Just hard to trust the 26 start maidens! FOREVER FALYON may need a bit further but will finish off well late. IFFUBLUSH next best.

Numbers: 6 – 1 – 5 – 3

Suggested Bet – INNER JOY WIN

RACE 3

CLOSE AT HAND looked like being an astute purchase for the Goldfields and that was proven at his first outing at the KBRC with a dominant 3.5L victory this track/distance/grade. Rises 2.5kg but given the margin that doesn’t look enough for any of them to turn the tables on him from last start. Should be another $13,152 into the kitty. HIGH PRESSURE finished third in that race. Just needs to start stepping to give himself a fighting chance. ONEMOREFORLEO doesn’t know how to run a bad race and only has 51.5kg on his back. EEVALINA heads back to Kal where she does her best.

Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 4

Suggested Bet – CLOSE AT HAND WIN

RACE 4

DREAMERS NEVER DIE has ability but had a few quirks/issues over previous preparations. Now trained locally in Kalgoorlie and given he’s 2 from 2 undefeated at the track and resuming off a 950m Lark Hill trial win, over a handy 3 year old in Caporetto (races at Pinjarra Saturday) he’ll be very popular. MAGNASONIC gives 100% and has versatility. He can win his way into 70+ company in the region. LOVE DRUNK BABY bounces between 58+ and 70+. Jefferson’s 4kg claim won’t last long and this is an ideal horse for an apprentice. SCIENCE DEGREE gets weight relief up in grade.

Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 6

Suggested Bet – DREAMERS NEVER DIE WIN

RACE 5

ULTIMATE PARADISE would have knocked plenty of out the quaddie last start with a surprise 30-1 C2 victory over Science Degree. That was a clear career PB from her and if she can reproduce it here she’ll be hard to hold out. Always risky following up on horses who win at double figures unexpectedly but this is arguably a weaker race than what she won last start. RULING DAME has had a freshen and comes back in distance with a set of visors on. FIENDISH continues to get to the line well. PRECAST is better suited in this C2 grade.

Numbers: 2 – 1 – 7 – 4

Suggested Bet – ULTIMATE PARADISE WIN

RACE 6

PRETTY DEVINE went up into 70+ grade last start and finished 3.8L behind Sure Thing. That’s still a really good effort considering she can get back into a 58+ and carry only 56kg after the Sharni Webster claim. Looks a nice set up for her to bounce back into the winner’s circle. SCOTTISH LAIRD has really improved this season. The Ryewood form holds up and he also tried his hand in that same 70+ behind Sure Thing. KAKADU has returned in excellent order and Ava Catarino is riding him perfectly. ON JUST TERMS toyed with them last start.

Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 8

Suggested Bet – PRETTY DEVINE WIN

RACE 7

DATE WITHTHEDEVIL will find this lengths easier than C3s in the provincial area. Hasn’t been the same horse second-up or third-up but quite simply, if he reproduces the trial or the fresh run that saw him run second to Uukhai he would be winning. THE JESTER’S SON is a big watch at his WA debut. Jumped under $5 in all four runs last preparation at Pakenham, Caulfield and Cranbourne, including a BM70 (58+) with Blake Shinn aboard. With the right run he’s very dangerous in a country C2. THATSTHEWAYILIKEIT has got the line strongly in a few runs this prep. HAND ME DOWN still wants a bit further but was a nice WA debut.

Numbers: 4 – 1 – 7 – 5

Suggested Bet – DATE WITHTHEDEVIL WIN
