Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on May 24, 2025May 26, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BEYOND THE WALL is quick and should have no trouble crossing these (unless Rosay Allday is desperate to lead with 52.5kg). Either way he will park right up over the speed and if he reproduces the runs that saw him finish within 1L of Let’s Talk (now a Saturday winner) or 3L of Housewife (now a 3 year old 0MWLY winner) then he would be too classy for them. ALBAMA ELEGANCE finished third on back to back occasions in the provincial area back in December and looms as the obvious danger. CLASSIC CODE tried hard behind a nice one last Sunday. GINGER FIZZ an improver into a weaker jurisdiction. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – BEYOND THE WALL WIN RACE 2 SAINTY CULLITY deserves another go. He’s now gone to a maiden handicap at York and been rolled but also was pulling late ground off Fifth Essence, who while failing in the last at Belmont on Wednesday did go around $2.10 in a C1. The only real query against him is the fact he’s 1600 back to 1300. PROPHET STEEL missed away most recently and put herself out of contention early. Did a good job to pick up late and now gets Lucy Fiore. QUICK COOKIE can work her way to a position much closer to the speed this time around. ICANDOIT ONMYOWN was much better last start ridden for speed. Numbers: 4 – 9 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – SAINTY CULLITY WIN RACE 3 CLOSE AT HAND has his first start for Peter Fernie and expect he’ll be a more than handy 70+ acquisition. Has been bouncing around between C5 and Grad 60+ grade down in Perth and gets in with only 54.5kg. Really nice set up for him and should be finishing off powerfully late at his first run on the Goldfields. HIGH PRESSURE has been all or nothing so far this campaign. If he jumps cleanly, he’s a big chance. SO LIKEABLE has a senior and can lead again which is key to his chances. WESTERNIZE has been caught between 58+ and 70+ for a while now but continues to try hard. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – CLOSE AT HAND WIN RACE 4 FEUDING put in his best run of the preparation last weekend and just goes to show that it’s case of horses for courses because he’s now had 7 starts in Kal and never missed the top 2. The mare he was chasing Ryewood is a Cups Contender this year and he’s back in grade off the 7 day spin. Most winnable race he has seen in a long time. SANTA BRAE comes through the same race and was excellent. He’ll keep getting better the further they race over. ONEMOREFORLEO is building into his prep and this is a great use of the 4kg claim. NEVER SOBER a watch heading to Kal. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – FEUDING WIN RACE 5 RULING DAME has been a hard horse to follow throughout her career, however, she’s been rarely sighted in C2 company throughout her Goldfields Career. Her four runs this preparation have all been in 58+ assignments and she’s now back into a C2 with Lucy Fiore on. That’s enough reason to give her one final chance. I NEVER DREAMED has had three starts for new trainer Gary Bowen and they’ve all been as good as eachother. He was super late last week and backs up off 7 days. PRAY WITH YOU can put in a slashing run from time to time. EVERLASTING SPIRIT was too quick for them over the mile 3 weeks ago. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – RULING DAME WIN RACE 6 KARNUP QUEEN is a nice filly for the region. She was backed from $2.70 into $1.26 last Sunday and never looked like being beaten at any point in the race. She bolted in for a 4L win and 7 days later she’ll again have a big following. Will they lob up another Dylan Hinchliffe style half volley for the punters to launch again? Let’s hope so. JAZALOT was really impressive on debut at Esperance and then went well over a month between outings into a C1 at Northam when he was kept safe in betting behind Don’t Trust Judas (races Saturday at Belmont) and subsequent C3 winner Zorbrist. Respect. THE LIONS GATE has shown glimpses in WA. TWIST OF GOLD is a lead or lose type. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – KARNUP QUEEN WIN RACE 7 LOVE DRUNK BABY is one of a number of Fernie / Fiore rides that look hard to beat on paper (shock). He won a 64+ first-up, ran second in a 70+ second-up and then third-up faded out late in another 70+. Given a freshen back in grade into a 58+ and Lucy jumps aboard. Wide draw and the 60kg a natural query but trust the combination. FLOBA and KHALIDA are both quick and drawn underneath of him so expect they’ll use the barriers to their advantage and skip along in front. NATURAL GEM has a gear change and was a complete forgive last start. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – LOVE DRUNK BABY WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2 2,3,4 2,8 2,4,6,7 Market Market
