Scott Embry’s Friday Albany Preview Posted on May 14, 2025May 14, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ELEGANT PEAK is first-up at 1600m which is a serious ask but didn’t mind her 950m trial for a filly stepping out over ground fresh. The last two runs of last campaign were good enough to win this, it’s just whether or not she’s fit enough. QUICK COOKIE has at least had a run under his belt and is capable of rolling forwards this time after being crossed and over-racing first-up. BULLS EYE PERFECT is always a top 4 hope – but he’s now also a 7 year old 32 start maiden. Hard to tip into him. HUNDRED YARDS was beaten 7L last start but now has shades and Lucy so there will no doubt be money around for him! Numbers: 11 – 10 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – ELEGANT PEAK WIN RACE 2 FOUR SEAS should be peaking third-up. Went well from a tricky draw first-up and then was only run down by Puro with the rest of the field well beaten second-up. Doubt they have any interest in going with Lady Coco early so expecting her to take a trail and be the first to attack in the home straight. PERFECT RULER resumes off the back of a 950m Lark Hill trial win. Drawn to get all the favours and was kept safe (under $15) in the two runs last prep in provincial maidens. COCOON GIRL is off a freshen without a trial and while she tends to get back she was consistently attacking the line in her first racing prep. LADY COCO is quick – there’s no issues there, it’s just whether she’ll run 1230m? Numbers: 9 – 1 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – FOUR SEAS WIN RACE 3 SIR BEAR A LOT is getting fitter and fitter and with the claim is again at a winnable weight. Think they’ll roll along here and that should allow Ava Catarino to park him up behind the leading pair and from there gets every chance. Racing like he wants ground. WHERE’S MY LUNCH is from the 3100m back to 1900m. In most years the horses who contest the Jericho have had enough but every now and then there’s an exception to the rule (Artie’s Comet 2023). LORDGIVEMESTRENGTH was ridden for speed last start in her maiden and really seemed to appreciate it. SECRET DEPLOY is a tease (that’s the stock standard preview) but this time has Tash Faithfull. Some will still believe. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – SIR BEAR A LOT WIN RACE 4 GIFT OF THE HEART was a late scratching at the last Albany meeting and it might prove to be a blessing in disguise. That race was over 1100m and this one is over 1230m. Expecting that Sharni Webster will have no troubles leading and that’s where the horse wins from and where most 4kg claiming apprentices win their races. Looks a great race for him. BEAU ZOOM is the class runner. Finished second to Playing Rio in a Fitzpatrick Plate earlier in the year. Massive respect. HANG GLIDER is dropping out of 66+ and 72+ racing in town into a c70+ at Albany. LINDEN’S GOLD is better than he showed first-up, just may want further. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – GIFT OF THE HEART WIN RACE 5 ALBERICH never gave up the chase behind Famous Dain in what turned into a one horse race from the top of the straight 8 days ago. He gives 110% and for a horse who probably isn’t actually a true stayer the drop back to 1600m looks to suit him better than most. Like this race for him. MAGIC MIKEY put the speed into that race in the middle stages and then was found wanting late. COUSIN IVAN just isn’t the same horse at Albany for some strange reason. THE MIGHTY BUTCH is up in grade but still only has 51kg on his back. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – ALBERICH WIN RACE 6 MONEY TREES trialled like a horse who would be winning fresh. Liked the first trial behind first-up Graduation winner Richanco and then loved the second trial when extending powerfully late. Lightly raced and looks to have come back bigger and better. Lucy & Brandon go to Albany on a Friday and that’s enough of a push to follow. REAL DELUXE had the 2kg claim in a C2 last meeting, now has the 4kg claim in a 58+ race 8 days later. Drops 5.5kg and that’s more than enough to offset the fact that she’ll be suspect at the end of 1100m. IMPERIALIZE is another very well placed and was only three quarters off Money Trees in the trial. GOD HAS DRIFTED is a nice horse for the region. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – MONEY TREES WIN RACE 7 KAMAKAZI SHOOTER got another deserved win on the board last start in a high speed, high pressure 1000 when gunning down Real Deluxe late. Doesn’t know how to run a bad race and staying in the same C2 grade will be hard to beat again. GASPARDO won his maiden and then was taken to Ascot for a 3 year old 0MWLY. This is far more suitable and a great use of the claim and think he can lead this which suits too. PURO broke her maiden well and Lucy Fiore gets back on from the inside gate. BIG CITIES will get back and chase hard late. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – KAMAKAZI SHOOTER WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,4 3,8 2,6 1,4,5 Market Market
