Scott Embry’s Friday Mount Barker Preview Posted on February 19, 2025February 19, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BULLS EYE PERFECT is a 25 start maiden but given the week that Indianna Weinert and Austin Galati have enjoyed why can’t he finally win one? Was a big improver last start over 1500m at Albany and now the senior rider goes on. Can sustain a run. CENTRELLA will roll along and look to pinch it. NADELL backs up off 7 days, drops back in distance and back into a maiden. WILLPOWER a sneaky if he gets a run. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 11 Suggested Bet – BULLS EYE PERFECT WIN RACE 2 LE BEAU has been travelling around the State trying to win a maiden. Bunbury – Albany – Geraldton – Mt Barker. He’ll find one soon and it may well be here in a race where he can roll forward into a commanding position and stay out of trouble. COCOON GIRL gives returning apprentice Rosie Mahony a genuine look at an early winner. Shades on and enjoys racing at Barker – big tick. AMERICAN QUE TEE does no work from the gate. KAMIKAZE FIGHTER a watch for the new yard without a trial. Numbers: 3 – 11 – 10 – 7 Suggested Bet – LE BEAU WIN RACE 3 FLICK THE SWITCH has come of age this preparation. She’s looking to win five of her last six and while this is her first test at 70+ grade she’s got 5.5kg on her main rival and should nearly lead them from barrier 1. WHAT A PRINCE – what a horse. Last year he went around in a Batavia Sprint and a Geraldton Cup in the same preparation, this time around he’s transferred from Geraldton down to the Great Southern and given his last run behind Agent Jay it’s only a matter of time until he wins another. MORGS FREEMAN gets back and runs on. VIA MONTE won well last start. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – FLICK THE SWITCH WIN RACE 4 MY LOVELY PET was huge in defeat last start and given that he’s drawn inside of Oscar Charlie and Elsa’s Pride expecting that Alex Hearn will take the opportunity to lead them. If he does, he’s very hard to beat over 1000m. ELSA’S PRIDE is trying hard and her form is easily good enough to win, however, 902 days since last win is very concerning. OSCAR CHARLIE was allowed to stride by Kate Pateman 12 days ago and that may just be the way to ride him. DODGE’EM is all or nothing. Hard to follow. Hard to trust. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – MY LOVELY PET WIN RACE 5 SONG STORY was too bad to be true last start. The prior efforts behind Hit The Jackpot and Warralea Lass were very encouraging and they actually saw him jump favourite in that race. Forgive, forget and giving him another go. IMAGE OF PRO is back in distance and has a noted front running rider engaged. Keep safe. MISSIJAY is going well but may want further? CHEVAP was some sort of win last time out. From last at Barker is good going. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – SONG STORY WIN RACE 6 BEAUTIFUL BAROQUE finished fifth in the Mt Barker Cup behind Big Swoop and Brave Contender. This is a really nice race for her, a 58+ and she’s a proven weight carrying mare who is 1 from 1 track/distance. Drawn to get the right run, looks the class runner and looks hard to toss. BLAZING TYCOON has found a new lease on life as a stayer. Just not an easy ride for a 4kg claimer. ODDONEOUT gets back out in trip to suit. JACK IN THE BLACK can lead these and roll along. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – BEAUTIFUL BAROQUE WIN RACE 7 FIRST LAW isn’t an easy horse to catch by any stretch but he should be given every chance here under Lisa Staples and his last start at Barker behind King Cartel is good enough for a race of this nature. PENNIES GALORE either leads or box seats and gets every chance. COUSIN IVAN put in a great run fresh over 1100m in a 70+ when second to Agent Jay. Hasn’t won a race for 1693 days so can you trust him to reproduce? Probably not. VONSNIP is the best horse in the race, but back to 1200m and lumping 61.5kg could see her vulnerable. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – FIRST LAW EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 5,7 2,3,4,6 2 1,4,5,6,8,10 Market Market
