Scott Embry’s Monday Ascot Preview Posted on February 3, 2025February 3, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 STAR SUPREME won a 1000m barrier trial by 5L leading into her debut in a 3 year old 0MWLY and simply didn’t handle the Soft7 conditions. Recent barrier trial was on a Good4 and she again won effortlessly by nearly 4L. Clearly above average. AMAROO STAR won her barrier trial by over 4L and looked super doing so. Sets up for an exciting clash. NICCIMOTA nearly pinched one last start and it took the talented Snow God (and Old Cob) to gun her down late. CONVERSATION POINT also trialled like a filly with ability. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – STAR SUPREME WIN RACE 2 BARRA MUNDY looks to have found a really winnable race. He finished second to Territory Man over 1400m at Pinjarra then second to Sail Session over 1800m and then most recently was tossed back into the deep end when contesting a 60+ Graduation. Back to maiden grade, back to 1600m and noted front running rider Brad Parnham on. Like the set up. QUAGMIRE ate up the ground late behind talented filly Precious God and drops 2.5kg on that effort. Big danger. SHE’S PERFECTION will still be looking for more ground but is getting closer with each run. ABSOLUTE WEAPON was good fresh without luck. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – BARRA MUNDY WIN RACE 3 MASTERLY made his debut as a 2 year old on a Saturday when finishing 3L off Horcrux, Supido Express and Mean Machine on a Saturday. Recent trial was handy and this isn’t the deepest maiden line-up you’ll see midweek at Ascot. Nice starting point for him and should be going close. COME ON EMMA did a bit wrong in her initial campaign but showed something. MOMENT IN THE SUN is better than what he produced first-up but is again drawn poorly. SISTER TALK was much better in her most recent trial. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – MASTERLY WIN RACE 4 DUG ANOTHER HOLE has promised to win a race all campaign but just hasn’t been able to find the right race and the right set up to win one. Last start was three deep the trip and was still there in the finish and with Bird On A Wire coming out and winning out of that event he’s worth big consideration from barrier 1. HOYA DESTROYER won his most recent trial by nearly 4L and looked good in doing so. From the draw you hope they can make ground! EIGHTY MILE BEACH worked home well into second on debut and maps a treat. HEY PINO was a handy run in the same race. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – DUG ANOTHER HOLE WIN RACE 5 NATIVE FLOWER has placed at all three runs this campaign and this 46+ does look like a ‘now or never’ situation for her. She’s finished runner-up to Promising last start, a Saturday type filly, and she won’t see anything of that level here. NEVER THE TWAIN was a solid return for a mare who had been away from the races since September 2023. Her last 100m was good. NATURAL GEM ran well fresh. Forgive last start. LIKE NO OTHER is building towards another win. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – NATIVE FLOWER WIN RACE 6 OUTSPOKEN LAD was scratched from Saturday at Ascot to save for this. He went to a 70+ at Albany last start and split in form galloper Agent Jay and lower grade Saturday animal Odinaka. Prior to that was beaten a big margin, but by Profit Pocket, Citino and subsequent winner Rommeo. Looks a nice race for him. BAMBUN BOY resumed over an unsuitable 1400m and found the line nicely late. Far better suited here at a mile. JUSTAMIDDY is ready to win and drops 3.5kg with the cutaway available. SPECIAL VIEW looks to turn back the clock. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – OUTSPOKEN LAD WIN RACE 7 SHOW THE WAY has had bars on and bars off throughout his preparation. That’s the only concern because his recent race form is excellent for a C3 1400. The filly that beat him last start is a proper horse and 3 year old Saturday to C3 midweek is excellent placement. GOLDEN DORE is quite a nice horse. Dominated them in a C2 at Alban and then made really good ground behind Caporetto and Zouboltz last start from a mile back. Steps to 1400m, draws to get a run closer to the leaders. SUNSHINE TAFE is another 3 year old who looks very well placed by Peter Fernie. DIAMOND DANCER improved without the shades. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 11 – 12 Suggested Bet – SHOW THE WAY WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,5,7 3,6,7 1,3,4 1,5,11,12 Market Market
