Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on January 23, 2025January 23, 2025 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 THELITTLE MASTER (7) ran on well without threatening the winner when 3rd to Lord Titanium here in quick time last week and should prove hard to beat here. MISTER MACEDON (6) faced the breeze and finished 2nd in that event and is the obvious danger if he can maintain his barrier advantage over THELITTLE MASTER (7). MASTER LEIGHTON (2) didn’t have much luck here last week and can be in the money at good each way odds. HI SUGA RUSH (3) was a good all-the-way winner at his last start but goes up in class tonight. Tips: 7 6 2 3 Suggested Bet: THELITTLE MASTER (7) to win. Race 2 BLAZE COOPS (6) showed good speed before settling behind the leader when a game 2nd to Freyja here last week. She looks a good chance to find the front tonight and will be hard to beat in that role. BRULEE (1) has performed well in her two runs back from a spell and is drawn to enjoy a nice run behind the speed. MACHLANI (2) goes up in class but he has won three of his last four starts and should make his presence felt from this draw. FRANKLIN DELANO (9) is drawn poorly but will be suited if there is a solid early tempo. Tips: 6 1 2 9 Suggested Bet: BLAZE COOPS (6) to win. Race 3 HILLVIEW BONDI (6) was slightly disappointing when 5th to Eldaytona but he recorded strong victories on either side of that effort and should fight out the finish tonight. ROCKANDROLLARTIST (7) is a quick beginner and will be hard to catch if he can find the front without doing too much work. NAVY STREET (1) is a quick beginner who has options from the pole and should be thereabouts if he leads or sits. REGAL CHEVAL (10) is a noted frontrunner but he is racing well to be in the finish if the breaks go his way from his trailing draw. Tips: 6 7 1 10 Suggested Bet: REGAL CHEVAL (10) each way. Race 4 LAVRA JOE (2) was a dominant all-the-way winner here last week and looks extremely hard to beat from this draw. SWINGBAND (5) faced the breeze when a game 2nd in 1.55.5 at his first run back from a spell and is the obvious danger. ACHARNE GIRL (1) hasn’t been seen for five weeks but is drawn to get a lovely run behind the favourite and shouldn’t be far away. CHAL PATCH (3) is likely to be three back on the pegs which will be a good place to be if LAVRA JOE (2) opens up in the last lap. Tips: 2 5 1 3 Suggested Bet: LAVRA JOE (2) to win. Race 5 SPICEY MAJOR (2) led throughout to record the fastest heat win and is clearly the one to beat, especially if the emergency doesn’t gain a start and he begins from the pole position. VENTURA (10) had a chequered run in his heat and did well to qualify and he will be a major player here with a smoother run in transit. THENU CAME ALONG (7) was suited by the frenetic early tempo when winning his heat and will come into play again if there is a similar scenario. SPYGLASS (1) had to run a 26.4 first quarter and knocked up late in his heat but he will play a part if he gets into the field. Tips: 2 10 7 1 Suggested Bet: SPICEY MAJOR (2) to win. Race 6 CHUMANI (1) was an impressive winner at his last start and will be hard to catch if he can step to the front from the pole draw. SUNNYS LITTLE ROSE (2) is a reliable trotter who has been placed in six of her past seven starts and should be thereabouts again. LUVAFLAIR (7) was well driven to defeat a stronger field in the Trotters Sprint here last but has a 30m handicap to contend with tonight. UPTOWN LAD (3) has been placed in three of his last four starts and was only beaten a head by CHUMANI (1) two starts back. Tips: 1 2 9 3 Suggested Bet: CHUMANI (1) to win. Race 7 RASCAL (1) has a losing sequence of 13 but he hasn’t had much luck lately and he should be a sharp improver from the pole. CORDERO (3) was a dominant winner here last week and will be charging home again. FLYING RUMOUR (2) should enjoy a lovely run just behind the speed and is a winning chance at each way odds. SOHO SANTORINI (4) has a losing sequence of 21 but his recent form is full of merit and he is capable of causing a minor upset if things go his way. Tips: 1 3 2 4 Suggested Bet: RASCAL (1) to win. Race 8 SHOWPONY (5) was a good 2nd to Maungatahi after facing the breeze at his first run for a new stable and can fight out the finish from a similar position tonight. GULLY GUM (1) is a good frontrunner who will give a great sight from the pole. HEEZ A VIBE (6) won four on end before being caught in the breeze in the quickest heat of the Nights Of Thunder and will find this a lot easier. SOUND WAVE (2) is drawn to trail the polemarker and shouldn’t be far away. Tips: 5 1 6 2 Suggested Bet: SHOWPONY (5) to win. Market Market
