Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on January 16, 2025January 16, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ANOTHER STRIKE is clearly talented, however, he’s now becoming a costly conveyance having run 7 second placings in 14 starts. Shades on and back to 1000m and likely to settle off a hot tempo (Star Power / Tawkin Jiberish / Capricorn Man / Salt Lake Shake). One more chance. SALT LAKE SHAKE trialled well under a junior rider and didn’t have his race day blinkers on. The concern is that he’s got a few speedy types drawn underneath him. ROCKET JUICE won well fresh and maps to get a great run. SEEEYOUATTHESESSION sits back. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – ANOTHER STRIKE WIN RACE 2 LONDON’S IMAGE looks really well suited under the SWP conditions of the race. She’s the winner of a Burgess Queen, runner-up in a Placid Ark Stakes and runner up in a Lee Steere Stakes and yet carries only 1.5kg more than Cliff Green’s debutante gelding! 1100m no doubt on the short side but she’s proven herself a quality and tough filly. GOLDEN VALE reminded us all of her ability in the Placid Ark when third behind Wind And The Lion and London’s Image. STAR SUPREME has trialled super either side of a Soft7 debut flop. BRAZEN BID improves for the run. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – LONDON’S IMAGE WIN RACE 3 PERFECTLY PROPER made her debut in a sharp 1100m event that contained Do I Feel Lucky, Golden Opera and Just Too Fly. She was the eye-catching run through traffic late and love the way she ran on past the post. 1200m second-up, Chris Parnham jumping on and strikes a softer line-up. Good race for her. GOLDEN OPERA beat her home in that contest and they ran near identical L600s. She was a massive improver (like most 2 year olds) with the race day experience. Logical danger. ABERDEEN FLYER has the benefit of gate 1 to follow the fence. MARDUSA was winding up well in that same trial. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – PERFECTLY PROPER WIN RACE 4 KRAKEN TIME was a tough watch for punters last start. He missed away, he swept around the entirety of the field from last and then was beaten a half head by Hostile Talk who had a far cheaper run in transit. He’s flying. MEMORY PARADE was a soft trial and a real follow run first-up over an unsuitable 1000m. Second-up 1200m she’s drawn to get a beautiful run and will be right in the mix. AIN’TSOBAD is worked her way through the grades brilliantly, however, it’s first time at Ascot for her and she’s also back in distance mid-prep to 1200m. CRUISE TO VICTORY trialled extremely well. Numbers: 7 – 10 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – KRAKEN TIME WIN RACE 5 ROCKING SOCIETY is getting better and better. Each time he goes to the races he’s recording a career PB figure and last time out it was in a testing 2200m with 59kg when going toe to toe with Alaskan over the final strides. There was 3L back to Mystical Man in third and there’s no Alaskan this time around. He’ll park close handy and should be going very close yet again. NOTEWORTHY has alternate form lines and was only 3L off Antique Miss in the La Trice. Not convinced she’ll stay but at least Rocking Society hasn’t beaten her before. MYSTICAL MAN is going super with Mollie Clark. FLASH PADDY measures up at this level. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 10 – 4 Suggested Bet – ROCKING SOCIETY WIN RACE 6 CELESTIAL STORM led, copped mid-race pressure and then was eventually crossed last start. Thought all things considered she did a great job to make a ‘secondary’ run at them in the home straight and with a 1.5kg weight swing on All Play was a genuine chance at turning the tables. ALL PLAY is winning races on raw ability. He’s won three from four this time in and fingers crossed his manners are improving with racing. He’s still got more to give if/when he puts it all together. LEXINGTON CITY was a great debut for Michael Lane. ICE PICK NICK goes well fresh. Numbers: 10 – 7 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – CELESTIAL STORM WIN RACE 7 RISSOLES was popular last week but never got the right track into the race. There wasn’t a suitable back for her to follow and then she had to wait for clear running in the home straight before being able to balance up. 7 days later she’s out to 1400m but will again need the right cart into the race. SOLDANELLE is starting to fulfil the potential she showed when she first arrived in WA. Super win last start and can 100% go with Rissoles if they balance up side by side. HOSTILE TALK is lightly raced and has a great run of foot when saved up. HESKET ran out of his skin in the Easingwold Stakes last start. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – RISSOLES WIN RACE 8 OWN THE QUEEN gets an easy forgive from the La Trice: first 1000m run in 1:07.40 and she settled last. Was impossible from there. She gets a 4kg weight swing on Bonjoy from their enthralling Starstruck battle and this time around they can ride their own race from a great barrier in a race with an even tempo. BONJOY will divide opinions. She’s 5 weeks between runs having missed the La Trice with an off-fore hoof abscess but if she can reproduce her Jungle Dawn or her Starstruck performances then she’s the one to beat. FAST FLICKER went to a new level last start but now cops 60kg. RUSTY DREAMS doesn’t get 1800m so the drop back in distance suits. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – OWN THE QUEEN WIN Same Race Multi – Own The Queen (Top 3) + Fast Flicker (Top 4) Own The Queen was brilliant first-up, equally good second-up and then a complete victim of circumstance third-up in a ridiculously slowly run La Trice over 1800. Back in distance to 1500m and a more even tempo is a better race shape for her. Fast Flicker was outstanding last start and has a lovely racing pattern. RACE 9 WHY ME couldn’t run down El Patron in a Westspeed mile last Saturday – certainly doesn’t sound like form that you would want to follow, however, Brandon Fiore’s go super off the back-up and he’s drawn to get the run he needs in a wide open race. ANTIQUE QUEEN was up against it last start when the leaders were able to walk. She’ll find the 1800m more to her liking. I DREAMED A DREAM sat on the tow ball of the leader in that sit and sprint affair and got the world perfect run. STARATING is racing like the 1800m will be in her favour. Numbers: 6 – 9 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – WHY ME WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 5,7,10 6,7,10 1,3,4,6,9 2,3,5,6,9 Market Market
