Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on December 12, 2024December 12, 2024 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 We’re racing once again at Eagle Farm on Saturday, hopefully on a Good rated surface, keep a close eye on the skies. I’m with the Sunshine Coast mare MOSZUR in this opening race who looks ready to tackle the step up in distance. She’s had the two runs at a mile & goes into this fourth up, note though, a dry track is a must for her. I’ll give ALDEENAARY another chance, definitely looking for further however no luck latest & drawn to gain a soft run. BEDFORD SQUARE was dominant last start however rises plenty in weight. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet: MOSZUR TO WIN (must be a dry track). RACE 2 Ex-Victorian QUEEN AIR has only had the one local start & based on her form down south she was never a hope on a very unsuitable heavy (10) surface. Well, somebody forgot to tell her that & she ran very well clocking in a strong closing third. Suggest she’s going very well in the hands of Tony Gollan & the track certainly won’t be anything like that today. HARBOURMASTER steps significantly up in grade however is going along very nicely at Toowoomba. NAVAL SEAL was a strong last start winner in quick overall time aided by a slick early tempo. Numbers: 10 – 11 – 9 – 7 Suggested Bet: QUEEN AIR EACH-WAY. RACE 3 The very lightly raced CHERRY ROSE appeals here. She’s had 7 goes for 5 wins with all bar the latest in Central Queensland, she brought her first up Yeppoon win to town in devastating fashion running away from her rivals at Doomben. I do like her out to the slightly longer trip as the pace did assist at that latest win. MIXED SIGNALS run in the Mode was better than on face value, she settled well back & wide yet made late ground. INSTAGOOD may need more tempo than is likely here, inside gate may help her chances though, she can settle closer. Numbers: 7 – 14 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet: CHERRY ROSE TO WIN. RACE 4 Sticking with SALTAIRE who ran home well first local start before taking on a stronger race last time out when solid however never looking like winning. Back to something easier she’ll carry more weight however with an inside draw can hopefully take advantage of that & settled closer than she generally does? BOHEMIAN LAD has been accepted for & scratched multiple times of late, should he get a run here must be included as his form is good without luck. No knock FIND YOUR OWN who has plenty of speed & strong form lines, will take catching. Numbers: 3 – 15 – 9 – 14 Suggested Bet: SALTAIRE EACH-WAY. RACE 5 HELL is flying this prep, has endless amounts of speed & can certainly give plenty at the business end as well. I don’t like tipping against him however I will this time around putting his market rival BUSTING on top. He’s had two runs back from a very long break, first up he was very strong late having to go back to last from a wide draw, second up he couldn’t gain clear running until too late & was a tragedy beaten. GOLDEN DECADE draws well & can certainly run a race whilst fresh. Numbers: 10 – 2 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet: BUSTING TO WIN. RACE 6 Like SHE OURS at a value price. Only very lightly raced she did well at her first prep before resuming at Doomben a couple of weeks ago settling back & wide courtesy of a bad draw before running home well into 3rd. Expect her a lot closer in the run from the better alley today. No knock HELLA FAST or SCRIPTED, both unbeaten with plenty of upside. HELL TO PAY brings the stronger Sydney form lines, must respect. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet: SHE OURS EACH-WAY. RACE 7 The Grand Prix is the day’s feature & it does look a very competitive affair. I’ve narrowed it down to the two main chances being MOON SWEEPER & BLUEPINOT with a leaning to the former. Strong finishing win running home over the top of APUNTAR (also engaged here) last start the step up in distance shouldn’t be an issue & he draws to gain a very economical run. There’s a sense of timing around BLUEPINOT, good win last start, has Sydney form lines & in the right yard. Include SUN WORSHIPPER who was very strong late at her latest run. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 13 – 2 Suggested Bet: MOON SWEEPER/BLUEPINOT TO WIN. RACE 8 For a Listed sprint there’s not a great deal of speed engaged, I’d suggest PRINCE OF BOOM will be able to control the race & he might take some catching. Having said that I’m going with his stablemate ABOUNDING who was very good fresh winning at Listed level, she’s only going to strip fitter & will be the one closing in on the PRINCE late. CIFRADO the other main chance in the race, I just worry how much start he will give away & the tempo on paper won’t help him late. Numbers: 10 – 2 – 1 – 11 Suggested Bet: ABOUNDING TO WIN. RACE 9 Market has this race as a wide-open affair & the price of BOOM SHOT appeals. Three runs back from a break he’ll be right at his peak now & he was very unlucky his latest having no room to move in the straight. COSMIC BEAUTY won well at the Sunshine Coast, there was plenty of support to say that would be the case, no reason she can’t run well once again. LIBERTY STEPS hit the line hard last start & will appreciate 1400m. Numbers: 6 – 13 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 10 Very open way to close out the day where I’ll lean to FELIX THE SCAT who was good first up before striking a very heavy track the latest which he just doesn’t handle. Back to something near good he can bounce back strongly, he’s always had a bit of a hype around him & keep in mind he ran third in the Derby last prep. EXOTIQUE MISS looks very close, light weight once again will go forward & give a sight. BROOKHAVEN is another who will appreciate drier ground. Numbers: 10 – 13 – 9 – 12 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. Market Market
