Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on December 12, 2024December 12, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 EARTHSTORM sits alongside Exceed The Planet as the best credentialed maiden in WA. Supremacy placed, Gimcrack placed, Karrakatta placed and most recent ran fourth behind Cashel Palace, London’s Image and Wind And The Lion – outstanding form, but yet to actually win one. Conditions to suit, 54kg, becoming now or never for her. KING HIT won a very similar race to this two starts back, it was a mid-weeker but realistically this is no stronger, and he carries 2kg less from an ideal barrier. BLACK ORA made an impression on debut. WHAT’S THE POINT has X-Factor. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – EARTHSTORM WIN RACE 2 FINAL SIREN is a really sharp sprinter and you would think if he is to come through this victorious his next outing could well be a Summer Scorcher on Perth Cup Day. He is 2 for 2 undefeated first-up, he’s a 4x 1000m winner and his recent trial down at Albany was in slick time. The only query is how he jumps but if Brayden Gaerth gets him out cleanly he should be too good for these. BOPPING BLUE comes back to 1000m and the last time he raced over this trip was behind Joker’s Grin and Devine Belief. CAPRE OMNIA probably should have beaten him home in that race. ORACLE SON was a big replay watch at his WA debut. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – FINAL SIREN WIN RACE 3 TWAIN’S ANGEL looks to have found her most suitable race of the campaign. First-up she ran into Almighty Class, Toropa and Rope Them In in an extremely strong 78+ 1200, second-up she ran into Baby Paris and The Boss Lady at Listed Level and then last weekend she dropped back to 1000m and solid behind talented front running type Devine Belief. Off 7 days, back to 1200m, senior on and a day where they should be able to swoop. KEEP ATTACKING drops a stack of weight and has been in outstanding form for months now. CRIPPALENKO drops out of the Winterbottom into a 72+. Big respect. MISS FLIRTACIOUS next. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – TWAIN’S ANGEL WIN RACE 4 THE BOSS LADY looks very hard to beat again. Rattled home in 32.85 first-up under 60kg, was the only horse to make any ground second-up behind Baby Paris and last start was able to gun them down over 1400m in the Jungle Dawn. Gets conditions to suit, maps well midfield with cover and is a proven weight carrier. ROCKIN’ RUPERT has come back in career best form. Winterbottom Stakes into a 78+ is always going to be very attractive. DEVOTED will likely have to circle them from last. HELL I AM is racing particularly well. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – THE BOSS LADY WIN RACE 5 CENTRAL FORCE has put the writing on the wall at his last two starts and looks one of the main winning chances in a wide open race. Expect the money will come for him given the pattern of the day the last time the rail was at True. Just needs to find the right back at the 800. PROPHET AND POWER ran them into the ground at Belmont. Stopped the clock 8L faster than average and gives the impression the Ascot 1800m will suit him perfectly. WAR MATTERS again would prefer to be drawn an outside gate as a horse with little early speed but he’s flying. BORDER FORCE may improve being ridden a bit colder. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – CENTRAL FORCE EACHWAY RACE 6 MADAME MAGIC is going better than it looks. First-up was run off her legs by subsequent winner Norich, second-up finished off well through traffic behind subsequent winner Miss Skyhigh and last start in a 66+ peeled four and five deep from the 600 and finished right alongside a mare like Wubin Gold. Think she’s the forgotten horse. CHOLLIMA was the ‘be on me next start’ run in that same race, but she’s also been that horse first-up and second-up. Seems to find bad luck. PAPAVERO PRINCESS was a super return and is progressive. BELLE JOURNEE is still looking for a run from the Westspeed Final last weekend. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 13 – 16 Suggested Bet – MADAME MAGIC EACHWAY RACE 7 BONJOY was brilliant in the Jungle Dawn when bursting through from last to finish third behind The Boss Lady and Antique Miss. Confident with the benefit of a first-up run and a better barrier draw that she can turn the tables on Antique Miss and given the slightly awkward draw and weight for main danger Own The Queen it looks a great set up for her. OWN THE QUEEN is drawn barrier 1 on a day where 99% of the punting public will expect the fence to be off. She was breathtaking at her return. Just wish she drew wide. YONGA LASS finds this more to her liking than the Asian Beau, RJ Peters and Carbine Club. MISS SKYHIGH has her confidence back. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – BONJOY WIN RACE 8 WESTERN EMPIRE will divide opinions (as will almost every runner in an incredible open and even Gold Rush). Loved his run first-up in the Colonel Reeves and believe he was a forgive run in the Winterbottom considering the horses he followed in running. Last rail True meeting every single winner was 3+ horses off the fence and expect that Billy Egan will eye off three deep cover with him. SUPER SMINK was huge in the Railway and luckless in the Northerly (but was she actually travelling that well?…). BUSTLER did the 7 day back-up Northerly to Gold Rush in 2023 and finished a strong fourth. MAGNIFICENT ANDY maps perfectly and has won previously in bars – less of a concern than usual. Numbers: 1 – 14 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – WESTERN EMPIRE WIN Same Race Multi – Western Empire (Top 4) + Super Smink (Top 4) Western Empire ran well first-up in the Colonel Reeves, was in the wrong place at the wrong time in the Winterbottom and now third-up to 1400m finds his most suitable race in the Gold Rush. Losing William Pike hurts massively, but he maps to get the right run. Super Smink should bounce out of her luckless run in the Northerly and is suited back in trip. Both Top 4 in a wide open race. RACE 9 YARRALEA won on Lee Steere Stakes Day when the rail was True and she swept down the centre of the track to victory from three deep cover. Only beat 2 runners home last start but was held up the entire length of the straight and looked to be bolting. Stewards Vision is actually worth a watch to see just how well she was travelling and how strongly she went to the line under a hold. COUNT THE SESSIONS got the gaps that Yarralea didn’t in that race. He’s always a chance at this level. HARBIN gets big weight on the Grandstand Cup crew and was as good, if not better than them. THE SPRUIKER was back to his best last start. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 10 – 12 Suggested Bet – YARRALEA EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 4,6,10,13,15,16 1,7 1,4,8,12,14,15 2,7,10 Market Market
