Scott Embry’s Sunday Northam Preview Posted on September 13, 2024September 13, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 GOD’S GATE was popular on debut as a 2 year old in a Saturday race when looming the winner but failing to finish off. Was immediately tipped out for a spell and now resumes off the back of another impressive trial and now in a tongue tie. Barrier is awkward but he looks above average. HEAVY METAL already has a Black Type placing to her name having finished third on debut behind Sir Dreamalot in a Supremacy Stakes. After that ran fourth behind Siren Assault in a Group 3 Gimcrack. Handy form for a Northam maiden. RED AUTUMN has only had 400m jump outs this prep but looked sharp. EARL IT IS has the All Grunt form. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – GOD’S GATE WIN RACE 2 OUR MATE ARCHIE was backed into $1.75 on debut and found himself in all sorts of traffic and trouble from start to finish. He drew barrier 1, was slowly away, mustered through to three back the fence and then it just got uglier and uglier from there on. Looked good at trials, was luckless on debut and Pike rarely makes the same mistake twice! NOW SHOWING went around a big price on debut but fought on well behind Muddy Waters and The Top Bar. OFFY’SCRACKER showed something at trials and has no weight. BOUSSAC trialled alongside Silver Eye and King’s Honour before his debut. New yard, another good trial. Numbers: 4 – 11 – 13 – 3 Suggested Bet – OUR MATE ARCHIE WIN RACE 3 ROYAL LAW was held up the majority of the straight at his Ash Maley debut and then finished second behind Bohemian Diamond last start. With Bohemian Diamond coming out and beating Centre Bond and So Nataya in a high rating C1 on Wednesday at Belmont the form jumps off the page. Pike goes on so the price will be extremely short. CRYSTAL ROSE continues to run honest races but continues to find one better than her. GALILEA has had a frustrating preparation. Best and worst are 10L apart. POINT OF LUCK is trying hard. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 10 – 11 Suggested Bet – ROYAL LAW WIN RACE 4 FULL OF MERIT was scratched on Saturday to save for this. Would have gone round a popular favourite in the Westspeed on Saturday but instead on Sunday will line-up in a C1 1300. Expect she sits second tracking the likely leader in More Special and from there Pike can ride his own race and pull the trigger when he wants. Nice race for her. MUDDY WATERS broke his maiden in a 3 year old 0MWLY. Technically this is a drop in grade for him! MAGNACHINE also drops out of a C3 placing to a sharp one in Kraken Time. MORE SPECIAL is giving 110% and leads. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – FULL OF MERIT WIN RACE 5 TORONADO ROCKET found the line nicely at trials and on race day when making his debut in a 3 year old 0MWLY behind Muddy Waters and The Top Bar. Drops 2.5kg into an All Age Maiden and should find this easier. With natural improvement he should come on second-up and this looks winnable for him. JAVELIN STRIKE heads to the races off an impressive trial win. When asked did extend quickly. PETITE VITESSE gives Simon Miller a two prong attack on this maiden and the booking of Pike takes the attention. Asked for little at trials. AUBREY’S STAR found the line strongly at Kalgoorlie once clear. Numbers: 10 – 11 – 8 – 12 Suggested Bet – TORONADO ROCKET WIN RACE 6 LORD SHIVA couldn’t find the front first-up when they had too much speed for him out of the machine and from there he ran an honest third behind Oregon Hiker, beating home key rival Ahyeahrighto. With the ZJP claim he drops down to 56.5kg and if ZJP rides him like he’s been riding stablemate Pin Deep then he should be leading and should be hard to run down. AHYEAHRIGHTO over-raced badly in that same race and kept coming to the line. RAZMAS broke through for a strong maiden win and the mare who ran second won at Belmont on Wednesday to frank the form. AROOCHACHA has shades on and is back on top of the ground. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – LORD SHIVA WIN RACE 7 LOVA SESSION is another great ride for Zeph Johnston-Porter and his 3kg claim. She bolted in a Westspeed two starts back by 4L over 1300m and then last start drew wide, with 59kg and was dropping back in distance mid-prep. Did a good job to finish only 3L off Eliteone. Great race for her to win another. PRETTY DEVINE has been settling on speed over shorter and fighting on in the finish. This is her chance to lead against the fence. BEANIE was backed from $21 into $7.50 last start, sat three deep without cover and was still there with 200m to go. BELLINI MISS caught the eye at her WA debut. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet: LOVA SESSION WIN RACE 8 SUPER ROMANI and QUEEN OF JERUSALEM met over 1800m at Pinjarra on the Scarpside on 17 July when there was nothing between them on the line. They meet again here 2 months later at the exact same weights (both rise 2.5kg) but Queen of Jerusalem loses Pike for a 3kg claiming apprentice. Going to side up with SUPER ROMANI even though he has 61.5kg on his back. Draws soft, proven stayer and a big lump of a horse who should have no troubles carrying that type of weight. QUEEN OF JERUSALEM is really well placed. Won a 60+ only 8 days ago and goes super on the back-up. DARK LOOKS has promised to win one all prep. LEAD BY EXAMPLE won a soft maiden. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – SUPER ROMANI WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 4,6,8,10,11,12,13 3 1,2,4,8 1,2,3,5,6,9 Market Market
