Scott Embry’s Saturday Broome Preview Posted on June 13, 2024June 13, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DEEP POINT was too good for C1 rivals over 1200m last week for Ava Catarino and Darryn Pateman. 7 days later he finds a C2 event with only half a kilo more and provided he can work his way to the breeze again expect he’ll take beating. SHOOTING KONTIKI is quick and that naturally makes him hard to beat. DIEGO DYNAMITE is still finding his feet on the dirt but improved sharply last week behind Dark City (who is much better than these). ROCKIN’ THE SILKS won well at Port Hedland safely running down Shooting Kontiki. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – DEEP POINT WIN RACE 2 REGINALD looks a real Cups contender in 2024 in the NW. Whether it’s Port Hedland or Roebourne or Broome (or all of the above) he’ll be competitive and this is a nice stepping stone through the grades and distances for him. GAMBLER’S GOLD was run off his legs in the high speed Wakan Tanka race at his first run for Darryn Pateman. He should be better for the run, he should be better stepping out to 1600m and he looks the danger. HEAR MY PRAYER was in the same Wakan Tanka race and went really well. Never got into it last week. RHYTHM STAR is going well. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – REGINALD WIN RACE 3 WHAT SHOUT would have loved if this was 1600m but still thinking that she will (hopefully) have enough speed to burrow up underneath rivals to hold a prominent position. If she can find a race where she’s able to lead and dictate she should be a really nice dirt mare. Could it be lucky start #29? THE LYRICIST has run well at both starts in Broome and backs up off 7 days. BERTA caught the eye late in the 1100m maiden last weekend. AIN’T LISTENING next best. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – WHAT SHOUT WIN RACE 4 WAKAN TANKA went close to the track record at his first outing at Broome when bolting in by over 5.5L eased down. He was then backed to the exclusion of all others at Port Hedland but was unable to reproduce the effort. Back to Broome, no weight on his back and ridden like the fastest horse he’ll be hard to beat. ALBERT a big watch at his first outing on the dirt. APPLE SCHNAPPS was popular in late betting last weekend and ran well behind Squillionaire. STAR SOPRANO isn’t showing his usual early speed but if he can hold a spot he’ll be going well again. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – WAKAN TANKA WIN RACE 5 MR CONFIDENTIAL was really well ridden by Kristo Sardelic last week. He parked up outside of odds on favourite Archer County and put the pressure to him a fair way from home. Thinking that from barrier 2 here he can kick through to lead and that could be the difference. SAMARIA has run well in her two starts at Broome. Once crossed last week was never going to win. UNO ME will continue to improve into the campaign. DEAL OBTAINED a watch. His first-up run behind El Patron at Ascot wasn’t bad. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – MR CONFIDENTIAL WIN RACE 6 DARK CITY has been simply too quick for rivals at both runs this season. Lead and won over 1000m beating Espirito (winner since at Port Hedland) and last weekend lumped a massive 63kg when holding out the well supported (understatement) Hide The Oreos. Jump, run, catch me if you can. ROCAPOZZENE is quick too and if she could somehow cross Dark City in the early stages then it could be more than just game on, it could be game over. SEA WAIF a watch at her first run in Broome. ROMERO should be a nice type for these lower grade sprints. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – DARK CITY WIN RACE 7 LET’S SEA put the writing on the wall at his first start in Broome with a fast finishing third behind Red Rebel in a high speed 1200. Got out to a more suitable 1400m last week and duly saluted and now 7 days later is thrown a wonderful opportunity to go back to back. VEVINSKY will only get better with dirt experience and with added distance. Wasn’t bad last week behind Acefire and Red Rebel. Keep very safe. YARDSTICK has run well at Port Hedland and Roebourne since arriving in WA. YANKEE LIMA was able to stack them up last week when leading and controlling. 8L slower than average. Gift. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – LET’S SEA WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 4,8 1,3,8 1,6 2,3,4,6,9 Market Market
