RACE 1

FLYING THE FLAG ran second to impressive (and well supported) maiden winner Profit Pocket in the opener on Cup Day and beat home key rival No Plastic in the process. With no weight swigs either way and being drawn alongside eachother you’d think they’ll nearly fight this out together. Looks a thin maiden. NO PLASTIC has been consistent all throughout the campaign and gets another 200m to try and turn the tables on Flying The Flag from last start. NOBLE INFLUENCE has been given a freshen and Josh Brown calls on Michael Poy to make a Friday trip to Esperance. OAKWOOD has nearly firmed at every run this preparation without winning.

RACE 2

SISTER KATE finished second behind Torpedoman on Cup Day in a C2 1200 where they went 2.5L faster than average. That looks the right form reference race and now she finds herself back out at 1300m and with a 1.5kg claim for Rosie Mahony. Could nearly lead this and meets Talkaboutyou 1kg better for beating him home last start. Nice set up for her. BELLES FANTASY was only 2.3L off Fast Flicker last start. That’s good form and is a C5 back to a C2. TALKABOUTYOU hasn’t won out of turn but for a horse having his 11th run of the campaign he’s showing no signs of training off. SCOTTISH LAIRD broke his maiden in style last start.

RACE 3

HUGHBERT made his debut back in September at Belmont Park when $26 into $18 but beaten over 7.5L behind Saulok and subsequent winners Saulok, In Good Order, Arcadia Knight, Influencing, Icebergs, Dialling and Rebel Squaw. First-up, no trial, taking on pure trust because the Lark Hill trial in September leading into his debut wasn’t too bad. SIXTYSLABS was beaten out of sight on Cup Day. Previous form okay. BAD BOY BU is quick and might be on a jump and run mission. FIFTY WORDS raced on the East Coast only 76 days ago.

RACE 4 

BLUE CAN TALK won a C2 1200 by over 2L eased dwown under Lisa Staples two starts back. Then went to a C5 on Cup Day a month between runs and was beaten 1L behind Fast Flicker and Blazing Passion. Comes back to another C2 and while carrying 60kg looks the testing material. Might just have a bit on these. MUSSA has been there abouts at two of her four runs this campaign and can come out running. PARADISE STAR is honest and is rarely beaten too far. BETTER THAN EPIC the unknown in the race.

RACE 5

BLAZING PASSION hasn’t won a race this campaign but has finished second in 3x C5 races over 1200 (x2) and 1100. This looks another nice race for the consistent mare and there’s no Talk Softlys or Habibs or Fast Flickers in this. If Blue Can Talk wins Race 4 it will only enhance her form references. NODUSTONME turned back the clock on Cup Day and ran a great race into second. If he can reproduce he can win. COUNTER DRIVE comes back 200m but can roll forward from the wide draw. JAKESTAR fresh is a watch.

RACE 6

UNCOMPROMISED has really found his feet late in the season. Winner of three of his last four and powered away from them last start in his most impressive victory to date. Seemingly getting better deeper into his campaign and a proven weight carrier. MY BOY EDDY has been near impossible to catch over the years but he drops from 2000m back to 1600m, is fresh being 4 weeks between runs, has the 4kg claim of Chanel Cooper (rode two winners last week) and is drawn to get the right midfield run. SHOOT UR SHOT can mix his form but the best of him goes close in this. KALLAROO is trying but does find it hard to win.
