Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on January 25, 2024January 25, 2024 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 CUT N RUN (1) was runner-up for his third consecutive start here last week when he trailed Post game and almost caught that pacer. He is drawn to lead tonight and is clearly the one to beat. ROCKNROLL ELLIOT (2) overcame a backline draw to finish 3rd in that event and has the strength to sit outside his stablemate and fight out the finish. MEDIEVAL MAN (4) was a strong winner from the breeze against a weaker field here on Tuesday and should be thereabouts. FRANKIE J HOLDEN (5) is capable of being placed at odds. Tips: 1 2 4 5 Suggested Bet: CUT N RUN (1) to win. Race 2 HOTLY PURSUED (5) finished his last campaign with two impressive victories and resumed with a soft all-the-way win at Pinjarra. He will find this harder but still appeals as the one to beat. SOHO SANTORINI (2) won three on end before chasing hard when 2nd to HOTLY PURSUED (5) at his last start and is drawn to really test that rival tonight. OUR SHELLEY BEACH (1) was a strong 3rd from the breeze at his last start and has options from the pole. BELLEZA NERA (10) is drawn to enjoy a soft run on the pegs and can be placed. Tips: 5 2 1 10 Suggested Bet: HOTLY PURSUED (5) to win. Race 3 GOODFELLAZ (7) faced the breeze when 6th in a heat of the Nights Of Thunder here last week and will appreciate the significant drop in class here. THE KRAKEN (1) was crossed from this barrier two starts back but his recent form is solid and he looks a major player tonight. REGAL CHEVAL (5) was first-up when 2nd to Soho Santorini in a Lightning Lap event and will give a great sight if he can cross at the start. JOEY JAMES (2) is drawn to be prominent throughout and shouldn’t be far away. Tips: 7 1 5 2 Suggested Bet: GOODFELLAZ (7) to win. Race 4 RUBINS PLIGHT (1) couldn’t get into the race in a heat of the Nights Of Thunder here last week but he was placed behind Lavra Joe and Minstrel at his previous two starts and should prove hard to beat from the pole tonight. IMA FIVESTAR GENERAL (3) was a game 2nd from the breeze in good time here last week and is the obvious danger. MACHLANI (2) is drawn to get a soft run behind the favoured pair and could cause an upset if the tempo is solid. IFEEL SIKDARL (6) is racing well and won’t be far away. Tips: 1 3 2 6 Suggested Bet: MACHLANI (2) each way. Race 5 CHAL PATCH (1) disappointed first-up but bounced back with an impressive heat win last week from a wide draw and looks the one to beat from the pole. RUMOUR HAS IT (3) faced the breeze when impressively winning her heat here last week and should fight out the finish again. ALL IS WELL (2) was only beaten a head in the fastest heat and should enjoy a lovely run just behind the speed. JAWSOFLINCOLN (6) was caught three-wide throughout and battled on extremely well in his heat but is drawn poorly again. Tips: 1 3 Suggested Bet: CHAL PATCH (1) to win. Race 6 TALKS UP A STORM (4) led an was beaten by Ideal Agent first-up but will be fitter for that effort and will be hard to catch if he can cross at the start. VULTAN TIN (2) did enough to find the front when an all-the-way winner here four starts back and his winning chances will be greatly improved if he can bully his way to the front in the early stages. CORDERO (1) wasn’t suited by the sprint home last week but won’t be far away from the pole tonight if there is a solid tempo. GALACTIC STAR (3) is still racing well and is capable of winning an event of this nature with the right run in transit. Tips: 4 2 1 3 Suggested Bet: TALKS UP A STORM (4) to win. Race 7 SHOWPONY (2) has gone to a new level recently with a hat-trick of wins in slick time and is ready for the rise in class. RASCAL (1) was first-up here last week when a close-up 4th in a strong field and should be in the firing line throughout from the pole. ELDAYTONA (5) finished 2nd in the same event and will make things interesting if he is fired off the arm in the early stages. MIDDLEPAGE (3) goes up in class on his win here last week but should enjoy a nice run just behind the speed. Tips: 2 1 5 3 Suggested Bet: SHOWPONY (2) to win. Race 8 STENO (5) has used her brilliant gate speed to cross from similar barriers and lead throughout at her last two starts and will be hard to beat if she finds the front. THREE RUMOURS (4) broke through for a well-deserved win in good time at her last start and will make her presence felt again. NULLARBOR NAVAJO (3) has won three of her last four starts and is ready for the rise in class. MIGHTHAVTIME (2) has been placed in her last nine starts including a good win here last week and should be thereabouts again. Tips: 5 4 3 2 Suggested Bet: STENO (5) to win. Race 9 WATER LOU (1) has won eight of her 11 career starts including an all-the-way victory at her last effort and will start at prohibitive odds tonight. LUCI KANE (3) has finished 1st or 2nd at her last four starts and should be in the money again. BONNE AMOUR (2) has trialled nicely for her debut and has the advantage of being able to follow the favourite. WORLD SECRET (4) led when a solid 2nd at her first run back from a spell and will strip fitter. Tips: 1 3 2 4 Suggested Bet: NULLABOR NAVAJO (1) to win. Market Market
