Scott Embry’s Sunday Northam Preview Posted on October 6, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 PLAYING GAMES trialled really nicely leading into her return to racing when third behind All Play who has since run a solid minor in a Saturday 1000 behind Generosity and Ripcord. Drops 2kg from a 3 year old 0MWLY into a 3yo maiden and should be able to burn off those drawn inside of her and lead. From there she’s the one to run down. RISEANFALL was a slick trial win at Belmont beating proven race filly Ayumi comfortably. MAGIC BELLE has improved at each trial outing and from the draw gets the run she needs. OUTSIDE THE FLAGS had nothing go right on debut. Improver. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – PLAYING GAMES WIN RACE 2 STORM COMMANDER won a C5 at Northam with 60kg two starts ago holding off subsequent Belmont winner Eevalina. Two starts later it’s same track, same grade, same weight, same map and over 1000 rather than 1100. Has to be hard to beat again? THE GREAT HOYA is only coming through a 46+ on the Toodyay Cup meeting at Belmont but he cantered in and prior to that was a big trial winner off Mia Gusto who got the job done first-up at Geraldton. HE’SGOTWINGS is first-up no trial but all of Summer Dickson’s have been running big races fresh. FIRST LAW has his first outing for Jon Jachmann. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – STORM COMMANDER WIN RACE 3 THE BOSS LADY was great on debut in an extremely fast run race behind Insyde Success and subsequent winner Tycoon Harry. Considering that Tycoon Harry was backed from $2.40 into $1.60 (and paid $1.30 on the tote) you’d imagine that plenty of money will flow for this filly. She’s drawn awkwardly in barrier 7 of 9 but she looks well above average. GET OUT MICK was a great trial behind Maxine’s Wish who ran second in that Tycoon Harry plunge race last Sunday to frank the trial form. DUBLIN RED was no match for the impressive Odin Omen at her return to racing. MY KRPYONITE can be forgiven for one poor performance. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – THE BOSS LADY WIN RACE 4 IDYLLIC RULER was $26 into $12 late in betting at his return to racing in a Saturday 3 year old Plate and got himself into all sorts of traffic issues from the 600 onwards. Loved his trials, liked his return to racing and 3 year olds in all age maidens is great placement. Think he’s worth following. ROCKING THE CASBAH ran second to Malkar Pindari last start who has since gone on to win a C3 impressively. Can work across to either lead or breeze and looks ready to win. LIEN HYPHEN was handy on debut in the same race. YELLOW SUBMARINE next best. Numbers: 10 – 4 – 14 – 6 Suggested Bet – IDYLLIC RULER WIN RACE 5 QUINDANDINO and EXPELLIARMUS both come through the same race won by Fast Flicker. That race produced impressive winner Catch The Red Eye at this track only 7 days ago and it’s the form reference we’ll follow. This race lacks any real speed and pressure so thinking that Pat Carbery may elect to kick through and control on EXPELLIARMUS and try to pinch this on straightening. QUINDANDINO hasn’t had a whole lot of luck since Shaun McGruddy pulled out a 12/10 to score at Northam back in August. Not much between them. BLUE LAGOON was backed as if unbeatable in a C1 last start and just fell in. TAK GOES BOOM has turned a corner. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – EXPELLIARMUS WIN RACE 6 SHE’S IMMINENT was really well backed in the Fast Flicker / Catch The Red Eye race which has form running through Race 5 in Quindandino and Expelliarmus. If it’s further franked then it will look a nice race for She’s Imminent. COCKTAIL PARTY is raw but clearly talented. Was wayward at York on debut and fought on bravely after being headed and then absolutely romped in last start in a maiden over 1100. Rises up 4kg and rises 200m which are both unknowns but she’s untapped. HIGHEST AWARD won well first-up and can hold a spot from the inside. DIAMOND ROCKS tries hard but the barrier hurts. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – SHE’S IMMINENT WIN RACE 7 STORMY TAWNY was huge at her Grant & Alana Williams debut when powering home into fourth behind Jelly Can Run over 1200 at Pinjarra. Then stepped out to 1400m at Belmont when $2.50 into $1.70 but never travelled at any stage and was only plain (at best). On the freshen and back in trip willing to forgive and forget. KING’S FLIRT has come back to racing well. Carries 1.5kg more in a C3 than she did last start in a C1 but she’s got ability. APACHE BLUE is bursting to win a race. I’M EUGENE has turned back the clock and is going well again out of nowhere. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – STORMY TAWNY WIN RACE 8 GOD’S GARDEN has come back to racing in excellent order and the entire Sue Olive team is flying. She’s drawn to get a gun run midfield with cover and provided she doesn’t get shuffled too far back into traffic she should run another big race. On the improve. PENNY ON THE QUEEN hasn’t seen a race of this nature for a long time. She’s remarkably only won 1 from 19 so it’s about time she pinched another to remind us of just how talented she is. Her luckless second to Patron Of Kings two starts back is excellent form for a Northam C3. PRO IS HERE rolls to the top and takes getting past. MIDNIGHT MYSTERY always a chance. Numbers: 15 – 3 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – GOD’S GARDEN WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,3,4 1,3,5 3,5,6,7 3,5,6 Market Market
