Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on August 15, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 NEVER THE TWAIN crabbed around the corner at Ascot on debut when heavily supported in betting. She ultimately finished fourth behind Wiley Girl, Rubick Lass and Zipaway and was immediately tipped out. Has been looking good in two sharp 400m jump outs and Chris Parnham took the ride in the most recent and sticks on race day. She looks to have natural jump and run ability. LACIE ACE has shades attached. She got to the line alongside Generosity on a Saturday most recently. The Ginnivan form looks like good form. CELESTIAL FOX got the job done last start and Moorditj Boy came out and won at his next outing. TWIST OF GOLD next. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – NEVER THE TWAIN WIN RACE 2 MISS SKYHIGH has won both of her public barrier trials. The first in May over 950m at Lark Hill and then again 3 months later in August over 930m (backstraight trial). She has gate speed, she travels well and she looks like she does most things right. Only 53.5kg on debut as a 3 year old filly taking on the older horses and looks hard to hold out on debut. INDIE RULER split Miss Ava and Don’t Trust Judas last start. Think in time that will read up as really strong form. Jumps, runs and kicks hard into the corner. STORM LEADER is doing a bit wrong but still has a level of ability. DIVINE JUDGEMENT was attacked first-up and was on the wrong part of the track. Numbers: 10 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – MISS SKYHIGH WIN RACE 3 PATRON OF KINGS is three from three at trials and looks to cover the ground beautifully. Comes from a family of horses who have all had their share of raw ability (anyone remember Terkel? Or more recently Alien From Mars). Is a 4 year old on debut who has been given time and think that he’ll make his presence felt on debut in what looks a good form reference race going forward. BONDI PLUNGE has race experience and was only 2.4L off Wubin Gold who is 2 from 2 and has a big future. 4.5kg is a big weight pull. ULTIMATE PARADISE had shades in her most recent trial win and she never looked like stopping. BRAZEN EMPRESS has only 53.5kg and looks like she’ll be winning races early. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 8 – 11 Suggested Bet – PATRON OF KINGS WIN RACE 4 DIVINE FLIRT went around odds on last start and was only run down late by stablemate Henry The Aviator. There’s a 3kg weight swing in favour of Divine Flirt with Brandon Louis going on and from barrier 1 she can kick through to lead or can take cover on the back of Success Play / Agent Jay and let the speed go. Has options, in form and very consistent. HENRY THE AVIATOR beat her home last start after enjoying a soft run on her back and then darting up the cutaway. Clearly not much between them. SUCCESS PLAY ran second to First Encounter and then got the job done at his next outing. BREAD TO FLIRT beat Becalotti two back and should have finished a bit closer to Red Fifty Three last start. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – DIVINE FLIRT WIN RACE 5 OUTFIELD much like the entire Darren McAuliffe yard is going really well. He’s no world beater and he’ll need an ounce of luck from a tricky draw but last start he finished fourth behind Pompey (now a Saturday winner) in a C3 and in this he’s dropping back to a C1. Was 36 days between runs on that occasion too and this race doesn’t look to have any real standouts. LIEUTENANT DUNBAR finally got the job done last start. Took him the entire home straight and Chris Parnham had to throw the kitchen sink at him to lift him home. Shades on can definitely help. BANK AVENUE took the step from maiden to C1 effectively. KING’S FLIRT was huge on debut but hasn’t shown much since. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – OUTFIELD WIN RACE 6 ENCHANTING SOUND finished third in back to back 3 year old 0MWLY before dropping back into a C1 last week. Didn’t get any luck form a wide gate and couldn’t sprint with impressive undefeated 4 year old Flash Max. Backing up off 7 days, reunites with Chris Parnham and is racing like she’s looking for a mile. ZAZA ROCK was a big effort last start. Didn’t get many favours and was still too strong late. Never easy to go from a maiden to a C1 and rise 2.5kg. RUNFORROB can march across from a wide gate to take up a prominent position. Had genuine excuses last start when held up behind Jelly Can Run leader’s back. KISSES FROM KELLY is a maiden with ability. Numbers: 9 – 7 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – ENCHANTING SOUND EACHWAY RACE 7 CHANGING GUARD has returned a different horse. Hard to believe it took him so long to win a maiden (let alone a lowly maiden handicap at York) considering how well he’s won first-up and second-up. Sat in the breeze and was too strong first-up and then let rip with a big turn of foot last Wednesday. If he finds the right back to follow, he’s really hard to hold out. PRO LATTE is getting closer and closer to breaking through. Ran second placing splitting handy 4-year-olds Forever Classic and Gage Roads last start. William Pike returns to the saddle and she’s drawn to get every mortal hope from an ideal barrier. FLY AWAY HOME has the ability but can be hit and miss. SURE NO SOMETHING showed something last start. Numbers: 2 – 10 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – CHANGING GUARD WIN RACE 8 FORLANE looks an ideal William Pike horse. Was simply in the wrong race last start as a m60 rater in a 72+ and yet was only beaten 4.5L by Baramagic, Outspoken Lad and Our Norman. Far better suited in this company and much like Villeins on Saturday when the Wizard is 3 back the fence in a staying race he’s a happy man. RECALLED really caught the eye last start. Was beaten 7L but was only getting going in the last 200m. He’s looking for the staying trips now and you’d be a brave man to leave out one of DMacs at the minute. GROUND BRAKER was strong last start. He’s promised to win a race like this for a long, long while. MELARAB was a cheeky run at his first outing for Brian Kersley. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – FORLANE WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,3,4,7,8 2,4,7,8,9,14 2,10 1,4,7,9,10,11 Market Market
