The Scout: Women’s World Cup Matchday 11 Posted on July 30, 2023 | Posted by The Scout Group H – Korea Republic v Morocco It’s a must win game for Korea Republic following their loss to Colombia, and they may make a change in goal. Yoon Young-geul was at fault for the game’s second goal and Kim Jung-mi is the potential replacement. Casey Phair (16 years, 26 days) became the youngest player at a Women’s World Cup when entered the contest as a substiture. Morocco haven’t won any of their last six games, and they also failed to register a single goal in that time. Combining that with a leaky defence means they face an uphill battle in the group. Rosella Ayane of Tottenham Hotspur remains their biggest threat in attack, while Salma Amani could come into the team. Korea Republic to win @ $1.65* Group H – Germany v Colombia The Germans were ruthless in their opening fixture, crushing Morocco 6-0. Alexandra Popp led the line superbly and scored twice; she will have her eye on the Golden Boot. Left back Felicitas Rauch will miss the game with a knee injury, while Marina Hegering and Lena Oberdorf may be unavailable again. Colombia suffered a scare this week when star player Linda Caicedo collapsed at training. Reports confirmed that she is okay, but it does leave her availability for the game up in the air. Catalina Usme scored for the sixth successive game against Korea and is in great form. Germany to win @ $1.25* Group A – Switzerland v New Zealand Avoiding defeat will see Switzerland progress to the last 16. A tight defence has provided the platform for success at this tournament, and goalkeeper Gaelle Thallmann impressed against Norway with five saves. No changes to the starting eleven are expected. Co-hosts New Zealand are still in a position to get out of the group but the loss to Philippines muddies the waters. They will look to play off Hannah Wilkinson in attack, while the defence should remain unchanged. A draw may be all that is required to go through. Draw @ $3.15* Group A – Norway v Philippines It has been a poor start to the tournament for Norway who have lost star striker Ada Hegerberg to injury. They also had to contend with Caroline Graham Hansen publicly criticising the decision to start her on the bench against Switzerland. All does not appear well in the camp, but they have enough quality to get a win here. Alen Stajcic’s Philippines side caused a shock when they beat New Zealand, giving themselves a great chance to make the knockout stage in their first World Cup. Goalkeeper Olivia McDaniel pulled off a stunning save in the closing stages of that game and will be crucial again in a likely unchanged team. Norway to win @ $1.12* Multi Korea Republic v Morocco – Total Goals Under 3.5 Germany v Colombia – Alexandra Popp to score Switzerland v New Zealand – Draw Norway – Win @ 7.42* *Odds correct as at 9am, 30th July 2023.
