Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on July 21, 2023July 21, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ELUSIVE DREAM finished third behind Truly Awesome and Lieutenant Dunbar at his first-up run for Grant & Alana Williams. He now transfers to Peter Fernie in Kalgoorlie and you would think that this maiden is at least 2 or 3L weaker than those in town. Should enjoy a great run from the draw. SCHNOOTS looks the biggest threat after finishing second to Captain Crocket at Northam after being supported at odds. She’s quick and she’ll look to cross down to the fence. The (former) stablemate Ebony’s Ace is also very fast and is drawn underneath of her. Speed likely to be on early. CALL IT A LOAN next best but disappointing last start. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – ELUSIVE DREAM WIN RACE 2 GOT LUCKY is now a 20 start maiden. Has finished second at two of his last three and is knocking on the door – it just won’t open for him. Every time you look at these maidens they get weaker by natural attrition and the newcomers don’t stand out. Runs another honest race but can he pinch one? MADAME PRO was backed into favourite at her return to racing at Northam. Should only improve off that. MICRO BURST is yet to show up anywhere but trials. GAPSBETWEENTEHEARS leads and stays out of trouble. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 11 – 8 Suggested Bet – GOT LUCKY WIN RACE 3 MY BOY EDDY has his first start in Kalgoorlie for Peter Fernie and looking at his last two outings he has dropped in grade from a 66+ into a 60+ 0MWLY and now into a country Class 2. In that 66+ he only finished 2L off Rare Encounter, Crescent City, San Fabrizio and subsequent winner Ex Sport Man. Great use of the Austin Galati claim and he’s clearly the class runner in the race. He’s fit and he’s ready to win. This is the easiest race he has seen in 2 years. LAUGHING BUDDHA looks the hardest to beat and if My Boy Eddy doesn’t turn up then he’s the one to beat. Lat start threw the race away when laying inwards badly up the home straight. DELIBERATION is racing consistently. VANCOUVER LAD has definitely turned a corner. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – MY BOY EDDY WIN RACE 4 TIME SCALE has her first start for the new connections and Cambana Lodge. First-up last preparation she finished third in a 72+ at Ascot behind Burnya To Survive and Weaponson. That’s unreal form for a race of this nature. Jump and run type who should be suited to Kalgoorlie. TURBO POWER returned to Kalgoorlie last start and ran well behind Galaxy Affair and Kick A Goal Son. Back to 1200 and can park up over the speed. MARKET STRYKE resumes without a trial. Did a great job done in Esperance and looks like he’ll more than measure up in these 70+ races in Kal. PRIZE PURSUIT is better than what he produced fresh. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – TIME SCALE WIN RACE 5 MAIDMY WAY and CAPTAIN ROGERS both need to turn the tables on ONEMOREFORLEO from their recent encounter on 2 July. MAIDMY WAY gets positive weight swings on the pair with the engagement of Austin Galati and does have some versatility to offset the wide draw. CAPTAIN ROGERS likely goes back and looks for a back to follow. Racing well. ONEMOREFORLEO dropped from 1600 back to 1200 last start and it really paid dividends. Drawn awkwardly but if he reproduces then he’s right in the mix. MINGORA brings intrigue at her WA debut. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – MAIDMY WAY EACHWAY RACE 6 HOLE IN ONE is a winner of two of his last four and from the draw he should enjoy a gun run. Was backed really strongly late in betting last start but didn’t quite show the same turn of acceleration that saw him gun down stablemate (and subsequent winner) Hidden Ruby two starts back. Following up. TOTAL LOCKDOWN beat him fair and square last start and with only 1.5kg difference it’s game on again. BIRD’S THE WORD now has the Austin Galati claim which means that he drops in grade from a 67+ into a 58+ and only rises 2.5kg. He ran into a red hot Talk It Up last start and never gave away the chase. This is a far more suitable race for him. LOVE DRUNK BABY has a fair few to cross early. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – HOLE IN ONE WIN RACE 7 KICK A GOAL SON is bursting to win a race. Finished second to Galaxy Affair in a 70+ two starts ago and then ran another narrow second (still can’t believe he missed) behind Honest Legend last start in a 58+ 1300. Lots of midfield/backmarking types in this should assist Austin Galati to get across from the wide draw. Expect he eyes off the breeze outside of Recapitulate. DAWN ENIGMA is absolutely flying for Brian Curtis. Once getting clear last start savaged the line yet again. Query is coming back to 1400m and having to again navigate traffic from barrier 1. SUN CHACEN has been going along well in town. KAKADU snuck back into a 58+ last start and ran well. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – KICK A GOAL SON EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,4,5 1,2,4,5,6,7 1,2,3,4,6 1,7,8 Market Market
