Scott Embry’s Friday Albany Preview Posted on March 2, 2023March 2, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SAFE RAPPA has run three honest races since making his debut when fourth behind Starchienne (winner of three since). Finished second to Lot Hot (beating home Rose of Denmark) and then finished only half al ength off Star In Time, Mine Host and Talking Heads. Senior rider on, drawn to get his chance. KING HALLOWELL heads down to Roy Rogers and resumes 50 days between outings. Had followers in each run for his previous trainers. MY LIBERTY was a good run last start. Drawn awkwardly but has the speed to overcome the tricky alley. DANUBE RIVER next best at her return. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – SAFE RAPPA WIN RACE 2 SCENIC STRIKE looks to have found his most winnable race to date. Finished off well behind subsequent C1 winner Finchy at his return and backed it up with a solid effort behind Pro Latte. Comes from metro maidens into a country maiden, gets an extra 200m and takes on a field where the majority have been battling away for a while without breaking through. He’s the horse with upside. FLIRT ALOT had to detour around a Kangaroo last start when leading (genuine – watch the replay!) and then picked himself up and kept whacking away to the line. GRECE LIGHTNING is not showing quite as much zip as he did last campaign. PRINCE IMORTALL was alright last start. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – SCENIC STRIKE WIN RACE 3 THE GREAT ONE is ready to win again. Ran third behind Hip Wiggle three starts ago, improved again two starts ago when a luckless third behind Artie’s Comet and dual subsequent winner and Mt Barker Cup winner Brave Contender and then headed to a 63+ in town when a luckless fifth behind Planet Cash and Rebelzone. Back to Albany, an in form Jarrad Noske aboard and he looks the one to beat. SNIPPAGEM will roll them along out in front and gets some weight off her back. She was only cut down late in town last start. Hard mare to get past. ANNIHIILATOR is going along well and should enjoy an economical passage. TRADEM IN will continue to build into the campaign. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – THE GREAT ONE WIN RACE 4 ROCH LEGACY has been going around in 60+ Graduations and 66+ ratings races at Ascot over the last few months. Dan & Ben Pearce now pull the trigger and drop him back into a country ratings race and after the claim of Luke Campbell he actually drops half a kilo. Looks like excellent placement and gives him a chance to pick up a well deserved win. BRAVE CONTENDER is racing in career best form. He would have been a good thing beat in the Mt Barker Cup if he hadn’t seen daylight. Was absolutely bolting. MR MT WALKER got the run he needed last start and duly saluted. Simply a different horse with cover. ARTIE’S COMET is racing consistently and gets it cheap in front. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – ROCH LEGACY WIN RACE 5 BENTLEY BEAU had been promising to win one all campaign. Second behind Chad’s Me Dad (beaten a nose), second behind Rebel Man (after doing it tough with 60kg and racing wide without cover) and then put it all together last start for a dominant 3.5L victory in slick time. Stays in the same grade, proven weight carrier and see no reason why he won’t be in the finish again. REBEL MAN beat him home two starts ago but was no match for him last start. Looks like he’s been purchased as a potential NW Country Cups horse. POWERFUL FORCE deserves to pinch one. He has been there abouts all campaign. This is a nice race for him. FLY BETTER was a good run last start considering she was 1240 to 1850. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 7 – 12 Suggested Bet – BENTLEY BEAU WIN RACE 6 BLUE LINE is back to his best. Not sure what was going wrong at the start of the preparation but he was racing 5-6L below what he was producing at the end of his 3 year old preparation in 2022. Alas, Sam Faithfull has him back and he should be hard to beat in this. Just needs to keep the leaders within his sights over the 1100. Last start 70+ winner back into a 58+. Lovely placement. ROCAPOZZENE and GODS MOMENT are both racing incredibly well. ROCAPOZZENE is drawn to lead and gives a big kick into the corner. GODS MOMENT is showing versatility. Had a brilliant prep. SOFIAS SYMPHONY finds this a lot easier than recent assignments. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet – BLUE LINE WIN RACE 7 MOCHA DREAM is double accepted for Thursday at Pinjarra and Friday at Albany. Keen to follow up with him in whichever race he contests. This is considerably weaker than the race he’s in on Thursday at Pinjarra so if they do elect to scratch from that and save for this they look like they’ve got a very winnable race in front of them. Toyed with them at Geraldton and that was off the back of a slick trial win over a debut winner. SQUILLIONAIRE would be the obvious if Mocha Dream raced Thursday and scratched from this. Solid effort in town before running an honest third behind speedy mare Lucrative Lucy. NAUGHTY GOSSIP simply got too far out of her ground last start. SPEEDY PYE has been there abouts all campaign. Numbers: (1) – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – MOCHA DREAM WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,4,5 1,6,7 1,2,6,9,10 (1),2,3,4 Market Market
