Scott Embry’s Friday Esperance Preview Posted on February 22, 2023February 22, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SATURDAY SUN looks a great way to start a Friday afternoon at Esperance. Since arriving in Esperance has finished second in a C2 and then contested 2x C5 and 1x 58+. He now drops remarkably in grade into a 48+ and after the claim of Zephen Johnston-Porter he only carries 57kg. From the draw he can work across into a prominent position (could even cross to lead) and from there takes real beating. BOOZEROO looks the danger on paper. Was a good day at the office last Saturday for J.FL Brown and he’s a lightly raced 3 year old with plenty more wins in store. NODUSTONME is hit and miss but some of his runs have been pretty good. 62.5kg an ask. BOLSHOI GAL next best. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – SATURDAY SUN WIN RACE 2 SILVER SAX broke her maiden last Saturday after a string of honest and consistent runs. Backs up, drops back 100m, and strikes a very moderate line-up. See no reason why she can’t win two in a row, even rising 3kg out of her maiden win. NITRO FRED is no star but this Class B race is very weak. If he can find the front he’ll be there for a long way. HOTORIO hasn’t fired since she broke her maiden. She did beat Silver Sax convincingly that day. HUSH NOW is going better than numerical form suggests. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – SILVER SAX WIN RACE 3 COUNTER DRIVE has been building towards another win. Since dropping back into 58+ grade has finished second to Fair Justice (subsequent winner since) and fourth beaten less than a length behind Galahs Do Roar, Magic Will Reign and Warzachantz. Drops back into a 56+, carries the same weight after the Gaerth claim and looks ready to win on the back-up. SAINT CLEMENTS put in a ripper at her return to racing and now carries a postage stamp weight. Keep safe. SALVARA has started to put together a string of solid runs. From the draw she gets her chance to break back through. OUR PANDEMONIUM an improver. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – COUNTER DRIVE WIN RACE 4 LUCIE MANETTE has turned a corner since finishing third to Aboard. Hard to knock the way she’s going and from the draw she can continue her consistent form. Not much between the top three or four in this and she’s drawn to get the best run. ABOARD is back going well again. She won a C2 1400 at Esperance when backing up off 7 days three starts ago. Then settled rearwards in a sit and sprint mile before finishing fourth last week at 2000m. Backs up, drops back to 1400 and is drawn to get an economical run. PRINCE HAL gets a bit of weight off his back and has been going alright. KING OF PLANETS wasn’t too bad last Saturday. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – LUCIE MANETTE WIN RACE 5 LET THE DUST FLY was only 2L off Winsalot and Gambler’s Gold four starts ago and only 3.5L off Aboard and subseuqnet winners Frankie Blue Eyes and Lucie Manette two starts ago. They don’t get weaker than this, in fact she’s the only winner in a field of maidens. MORSE is still a maiden, but finished a close up second to Special Virtue in a mile maiden and then went past a few late over 2000m in a C2 last Saturday. Going alright. COUSIN NICCI is another maiden and a genuine query at a mile. OAKWOOD continues to whack away. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – LET THE DUST FLY WIN RACE 6 GALIBA won three races at Port Hedland back in 2021 and then finished second to Native Chimes in a 68+ 1700 at Carnarvon in August 2022 and second in the Moora Cup In 2022. In between those has struggled a bit on the grass, however, the run last Saturday behind Fair Justice and Leading Man was excellent. Backs up, gets out to a mile and drops 3.5kg. Brings alternate form. Stablemates SECRET PEARL and AL DI LA look the dangers. They’re both coming back to a mile from 2000m but will be coming hard late. MAGIC OF ZEUS an improver. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – GALIBA WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,5,9 4,5,9 FD 1,2,3 Market Market
