Scott Embry’s Saturday Collie Preview Posted on October 20, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 PADDY’S ART looked capable of winning an inner provincial maiden at one point. Raquel Williams trains out of Collie and her 5 year old gelding should be going very close to breaking through. Drops 2kg after the Martinan claim and if runs to anywhere near his third to Our Norman and Fine Romance or his fourth to Keeper Sweet then he’ll be very hard to beat. HIGH PRESSURE looks the obvious danger. Won a recent trial at Lark Hill by a length and can get across from the wide gate. GINGER CHARM wasn’t too bad on debut. ROYAL GLORY fresh can run a race. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – PADDY’S ART WIN RACE 2 OLD BAILEY simply didn’t run out a strong 1400m last week at Leinster. His previous effort over 1200m at Leonora was a 5.75L win. Comes back in trip, backs up off 7 days and drops half a kilo. Should roll to the top and play catch me if you can with them. DARK CITY won well at Moora and should get a lovely stalking run behind the speed. Logical danger on paper. WELD can be hit and miss. When he’s on, he’s more than capable. SHY BOY next best but may need further. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – OLD BAILEY WIN RACE 3 PULLING RANK was crunched in betting last start. Opened up in double figures and jumped a well supported $4.20 chance. Never really looked comfortable at the York circuit and was beaten over 6L in the finish. Going to follow the money trail in a wide open Collie maiden. SWEET CHILD backed up off 7 days after his return to racing and went close at Moora. This is no tougher. CHAMPAGNE MISSILE is only having her second start for Aaron Pateman and will appreciate a big drop in class and quality. ELITE JEWEL may look for the top early. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – PULLING RANK WIN RACE 4 AL DI LA won’t know himself in this 56+ at Collie. Hasn’t won for an eternity but has done a lot of racing in far better grade and quality than this. Tends to go quite well fresh, has his first start for Ricky Moss and it would be no surprise to see him come out running, take up a forward position and get them chasing a long way out. Nice race for the old boy. HEZAZEB wasn’t too bad last start when contesting a 52+ at York. Only gave it away late. FRIARS GIFT is extremely well placed back into this company. Can turn things around. MAGIC OF ZEUS has his first start for Kevin Mahoney. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – AL DI LA WIN RACE 5 JUICING CARROTS won the York Cup this time last year (7 November 2021) when carrying 58kg in the 72+ and leading throughout to beat Roman Flirt. After that was a m81 rater and now has a country rating lower than that. Alan Kennedy is a natural heavy weight and clearly the best rider at the meeting. If the real Juicing Carrots turns up he’ll win. BIG BLOWS and CALLING CARD have both been highly consistent throughout their respective dirt preparations. SCHOOLING always a blow out kind of animal. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – JUICING CARROTS WIN RACE 6 PRINCE SIYAN is hard to catch when he can roll forward into a prominent position over the speed. From barrier 5 he should go close to crossing those drawn underneath him and he went very close in a 56+ at Moora last start. Drops into a 48+ and should take beating. GRATED COCONUT won a 48+ at Newman by 4.5L under Chris Nicoll with 62kg back in August. Looks a very similar set up for him. SNOW PRINCESS only had her colours lowered at the hands of Old Bailey after winning three on the trot. Keep very safe. ROMERO finds a more suitable race. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – PRINCE SIYAN WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) FD 1,3,4 1,3,4,5 1,2,3 Market Market
