Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on May 31, 2022May 31, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 PLEASE GOD gets another wonderful chance to lead and win in this moderate 1400m maiden. She drops 2kg with Holly Watson returning to the saddle and she was run down by a smart filly last start in Charming Belle. She’ll roll to the top and try to sneak away from them on straightening. LUCKY FOO FOO can be a handful but she’s got ability. Drawn really sticky in barrier 7 of 8 but with even luck she looks the danger. TIGER MOVE promised to win a maiden all preparation when last in work. He likely slides across to breeze outside of the favourite. LIBER ARCHIE kept battling away fresh off the back of a solid trial. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – PLEASE GOD WIN RACE 2 SHE’S PUZZLING put the writing on the wall last start in a Westspeed Platinum 58+ event. She finished third behind deadheat winners Gates of Babylon (once a m80 winner) and Safety Bay. She drops back into a maiden, draws in barrier 1 and as the cutaway on offer should she need it on straightening. Looks a work in progress but looks like she’ll make a handy mare in time. AWESOME RIVAL has burnt punters both times in this campaign. Looks like the stable is still trying to figure her out. She’s racing like she’s looking for 1400m and looks the danger. DELTA ANNE might go round a big quote. Yet to run a bad race in her life and she’s got race fitness on her side. SO LIKEABLE has shades re-attached and an in form senior rider engaged. Leads for a long way. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – SHE’S PUZZLING WIN RACE 3 CAPO VELOCE jumps straight from 1000m races into a 1400m event which is no easy task, however, think that the cutaway rail makes things more forgiving. If he jumps cleanly and can box seat on the back of Final Series who will take him right into the home straight he gets his chance to zap them late. Tough win on debut down the 1000m straight and then toughed it out well behind sharp filly Revitup in a SWP last start. FINAL SERIES found the front last Wednesday and never looked like being run down. He’ll look to adopt similar tactics here. OPTIMAL beat Final Series home on debut and meets him 2kg better at the weights. Sure to be improved for the run. ROCKON MOLLY might have to drop out to last. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – CAPO VELOCE WIN RACE 4 HAMMARMILL has some real X-Factor about her. Her debut win was as good as you’ll see when ducking and weaving a passage through in the home straight to burst clear and win by over a length. At her second outing she went straight into this 3yo 0MWLY grade and finished off powerfully down the home straight to finish second to undefeated Snitzel colt Colossal. Not sure whether she’ll hold up any closer from barrier 1 but with the cutaway in play Lucky Ramoly doesn’t have to come out deep to make his run, he can pick a gap through them as they fan for home. DESERT VIXEN got shuffled a long way back in the same race. Couldn’t match motors with Hammarmill late though. SEDUCE ME is drawn 8 of 8 which makes things hard. Raced like she was looking for further fresh. FATALE FEMME might lead them here. She’s running out of chances. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – HAMMARMILL WIN RACE 5 DARK LASS backs up off 7 days from an encouraging second behind Canny Jack in a C3 mile. She should geta lovely run from the barrier and holds a tactical advantage over main rival Sunsphere in running. This race has speed: Natural Spice, Interstate and Billy Jack all likely to contest the early lead. That should leave Dark Lass and Taj Dyson sneaking up behind them. She’s a C3 2200m winner previously and she should get the run she needs. SUNSPHERE will naturally be popular after two massive efforts behind Bold Success and Sluice Box. Expect that Holly Watson will drop back to last and watch the race unfold in front of her until the 800. THE HAWKEYE can stay and has the leading apprentice on his back. DUDEMANBRO was better last start. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – DARK LASS WIN RACE 6 DAZZLING DANE returns to the races fresh 2 months between outings. In her first preparation she won 2 race and flashed big potential, including an eye catching fifth in a 60+ Graduation at Ascot. While 1000m is likely short of her best she’ll go round eachway, has a bit of upside and has a turn of foot. If she can stay within striking distance she can charge at them late. FIRST LAW comes back in to a C3 1000 and has blinkers re-attached. Senior rider with 60.5kg a show of intent and one gets the feeling the Gangemi’s are about to make their usual winter Belmont resurgence. DANCE SESSION was strong 7 days ago. Showed some grit at the end of her race and fought them off well. NUHAD parks in behind Dance Session and So Birikkino as they fly along mid-race. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – DAZZLING DANE EACHWAY RACE 7 WAR HYMN looks the map horse in this event. With Double Thumbs Up, Born To Talk and Galancy all drawn in and around her Pat Carbery can assess the speed in the first few hundred and put the filly in the right spot. Simon Miller has produced 4 individual winners off a 50 – 80 day spacing in the last 12 months and this looks another who can go well fresh. Running second to Kaymay in a C1 all of a sudden looks like great form. GALANCY never gave up the chase behind Desert Vixen last start and should position up. BORN TO TALK has 60kg to contend with but can be forgiven for being run off his legs behind Dance Session last Wednesday. DOUBLE DEMERITS will sit back and come with a late run. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – WAR HYMN WIN RACE 8 BOURBON BEAU looks the one in the last. No luck first-up, dominant winner second-up, luckless into second behind Rebelzone third-up and then solid in defeat behind Speed Dream in the Sky Provincial Championship Series Final at 1400. Back to 1200, drawn a gate to park just in behind the leaders and with the cutaway in play shouldn’t have any traffic issues in the home straight. When Annie King has them in form, they hold form. GUNS OF NAVARONE is always a chance in this 0MWLY grade. Three starts ago placed behind Timely Outburst and Mercanto (subsequent 66+ winner) and then finished fourth in a 72+ behind It’sarayday. Danger. COUNTER DRIVE gets 5.5kg on Bourbon Beau from their Narrogin encounter. DEVINE BEAST gets back and hits the line. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – BOURBON BEAU WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,3,4 1,5,8 4 3,5 Market Market
