Scott Embry’s Thursday Geraldton Preview Posted on December 8, 2021December 8, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 COLOUR ME QUICK is knocking on the door to break through. Last start was in front for the vast majority of the race at a mile when only run down late by King Kashoo who might just be above average (at least for the region). Again another deep race but if he can find the front again he’ll give a sight. DARK PEAK is another talented maiden who is ready to win one. Blinkers go straight back on and she looks like she’ll only get better with distance. MOUNTAIN ASH was sent down to Albany for what looked an easy kill on paper. Didn’t eventuate that way after CJP gave him a peach. Now it’s over to Ben Kennedy. COLOUR ME SON ran home well last start. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – COLOUR ME QUICK WIN RACE 2 LITTLE SCHNITTY has her first start in WA for Martin Allan. Only a 3 year old filly who has had 9 starts in two preparations and does have speed. Martin puts a set of blinkers on for her WA debut as well as the Geraldton King Troy Turner. Junior rider was aboard in the recent trial and she wasn’t tested in behind them. Watch the money. MEGA REWARD has horrendous numerical form but the horses he ran into in his races to date have been 10L better than these. No surprise to see a level of support at odds. KING’S WENCH wasn’t too bad at trials and Meryl Hayley announced her return in style last week. DEMERITS PRIDE can kick through into a prominent spot. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 10 – 4 Suggested Bet – LITTLE SCHNITTY WIN RACE 3 NURHACI is a great horse for these c70+ type races. Second to Kenyluck first-up who has since run out of his skin in a m71+ in town behind Written Matter and then got the job done over Lacevinsky at Albany last start. Drawn the inside gate means that Ben Kennedy can take him straight to the top or box seat and from either position he’s hard to beat. WILDONBROOK is sure to make a race of it. Sent to Geraldton as a C1 galloper and has since won 5 of 12 at the track. Adrian Tiver can get them to go fresh so I wouldn’t worry about her historical first-up record. JUPITER RISING has come back well. RECHARGER is a track specialist. Whenever Cliff Green takes him to Gero he runs well. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – NURHACI WIN RACE 4 STRONG HEART showed last start that he’s ready to win. Ran second in a 70+ at 1618m behind Miracle Man and now steps out to an even more suitable trip in an even weaker race. Drops back into a 64+ and while he concedes big weights to his rivals he is also a class above them. Proven weight carrier previously and from the draw Andrew Castle can keep him within striking distance. O’SO TEMPTING just kept kicking last start at Albany and recorded an overdue and well deserved win. With only 52kg it’s game on. STATE PROSECUTOR showed something two starts back. BLACK MONEY can stay. Just might be a run too soon. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – STRONG HEART WIN RACE 5 BILLY JACK is starting to fulfil the potential that he showed early days in Albany as a maiden when he ran some enormous races without any luck. Has had 5 starts in Gero for Rhona MacPhilomey and has impressed at all but one. Winner of his last two and showed at his most recent that the staying trips might be just what he needs. Hard to fault the way he’s going and sneaks in on the minimum. A STEAMY AFFAIR is the stablemate and no doubt Tash Faithfull would have had the first choice of the pair. We’ll trust in Tash and side up with Billy Jack over A Steamy Affair. HARDINGTON hasn’t won for a long while but he’ll be there if it turns into a grind. INTERSTATE’s first run for Ben Owen was actually really good. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – BILLY JACK WIN RACE 6 THREE SESSIONS is looking like one of the more exciting gallopers in the region and trainer Barry Newnham elects to pinch another one in the Midwest before no doubt heading to town. Dominated in his maiden win, dominated last start and meets a vastly similar line-up. Should be straight to the front for Nicole Hopwood and form there it’s his to lose. PASSPORT is bursting to win a race. Just needs luck at the right stages. THE SINGING TIGER makes his Geraldton debut. At times looked above average for JT Warwick. SEA LAKE can go well fresh back on the grass. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – THREE SESSIONS WIN RACE 7 SHE’S GOT MERIT was scratched from Ascot on Wednesday to save for Geraldton on Thursday. Was a new horse in the care of Ash Maley to the point where she won a 60+ Graduation back in November of 2020. One start in Geraldton was a win and Ash Maley normally leaves the track with a winner when he starts a team. CHISANO and Rosie Mahony were tough last start when the 7 year old mare just kept kicking. Possibly stretched out to 1200m but from the barrier should get a near identical run in transit. HERITAGE SASH was slow away last start and that saw him out of contention. TRICKY TRIX has a tricky gate to contend with but has come back bigger and better this preparation. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – SHE’S GOT MERIT WIN RACE 8 SLY AS A FOX ran second first-up behind Warm ‘N’ Fuzzy in a ripping effort from an impossible position in running. Since then hasn’t really been able to produce the same turn of acceleration but is drawn to get every mortal hope here. Like the booking of Ben Kennedy and he should get an opportunity to return to the winners circle in an open race. ROYAL WHISPER looked like being a handy pick up for Malcolm MacKenzie and it didn’t take long at all for him to win one. LA MORNE is better than what she showed first-up. MACHALI needs luck from a bad draw. Numbers: 2 – 10 – 9 – 7 Suggested Bet – SLY AS A FOX WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,3,4,5,6 1 1,2,4,6,7,10 1,2,6,7,9,10 Market Market
