Scott Embry’s Sunday Geraldton Preview Posted on November 26, 2021November 26, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DARK PEAK put the writing on the wall at her first-up run in Geraldton. Really attacked the line behind a horse who will probably start in town sometime soon in Isola Bay. Kim Anderson takes the blinkers off and keeps Kate Southam’s claim and with an added 100m and the benefit of fitness on her side she should prove too strong for these. Looks capable of picking up a few this preparation. Like her. COCOBOMO and SOLDER bring the metro maiden form to the country which is always worth respsecting. COCOBOMO has speed to be put into a position. SOLDER is still very green. MY TOP SECRET has a man who rides Geraldton 5L better than anyone. Numbers: 8 – 10 – 11 – 6 Suggested Bet – DARK PEAK WIN RACE 2 KING KASHOO was a touch unlucky last start. Was held tight in a pocket for a big portion of the race and unable to fully unwind. Adam Durrant goes from a claiming apprentice to CJP and that looks a real positive towards him staying out of trouble and breaking through at start number three. COLOUR ME QUICK had excuses last start after being held up for a run at a crucial stage. Going well this preparation and Allan Hughes’ horses run for Rosie Mahony. MISS RONA has shown glimpses in the past. Weak maiden and can improve sharply. THE CHASER ran a placing in a C1 two starts ago and was solid last time out. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – KING KASHOO WIN RACE 3 SANS LE SOU got within a nose of Quan on the line last start. They meet again here, step from 1400m out to 1600m and with the weight swing going to side up with SANS LE SOU to turn the tables on Quan. From the barrier Andrew Castle can have her within striking distance and she should go well. QUAN has been yet another handy former Eastern States acquisition for Sean Rains. Likely to jump and run again from the inside alley. RIO ROGUE is going well for the new yard and will find a race sooner rather than later. HAYSTACKS can improve quickly into a campaign. Senior rider on a big bonus. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – SANS LE SOU WIN RACE 4 A STEAMY AFFAIR comes back from 1900 to 1600m which is a slight query given that she tends to get more and more dour into the preparation but provided she still has some level of sprint in her legs then this looks a lovely assignment for her and one of the weaker C2 events she will see in the region. Drops from a 58+ back into a C2 and gets her chance. STIGWOOD hasn’t quite hit his straps yet for Cliff Green since coming across to WA. Expecting him to surprise a few here and go show something more than he has so far. KING CABERNET is no star but continues to catch the eye from time to time in replay. GALAGA can be forgiven for last start. Form prior was solid and from the gate should enjoy a soft run. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – A STEAMY AFFAIR WIN RACE 5 MIRACLE MAN was set a serious task last start when stepping to a staying trip for the first time and lumping a big weight when parked three deep outside the leader throughout. Would have slept well and now finds himself on the truck to Geraldton to take on a mediocre 70+. Think he’s even better suited back in trip and CJP will be looking to repay Jordy Rolfe after a forgettable last start. If he doesn’t pinch this, he’ll struggle to find one. MARXIAN is first-up at 1600m and that’s the only minor query. His Carnarvon Cup win was that of a horse who can win a Broome Cup or even measure up in town. Logical danger if Taj Dyson can find the front. BALMONTGOMERY should track up nicely along the fence. STRONG HEART is still building into the prep. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – MIRACLE MAN WIN RACE 6 ZIERA was backed as if unbeatable two starts ago in a C2 and romped in to a 1.5L victory. Last time out stepped to a 70+ and was far from disgraced beaten 8L behind far more talented types than she’ll meet here. Last start she was a c62 in a 70+ that contained the likes of Startrade, Skinnen Tins, Off Wego and Strong Heart. Great form for a 58+ and can position up outside of Red Epic. RED EPIC looks the likely leader again and while he doesn’t win out of turn, he’s super consistent once he hits form. SAFE TO MAKEUP finds a new home and can put in a run fresh. KIDLAT is worth consideration at cricket score odds. Given no chance last start. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – ZIERA WIN RACE 7 STARORIO won a 58+ 1400m first-up when beating Megadon. He has since won his last two including the race where Real Passion went sideways and poor Shaun O’Donnell was left shaking his head in disbelief as Starorio was completely knocked out of the race. Disregard the run, comes back to the same grade and distance where she won fresh and is a Geraldton track specialist. ARABIAN riches is just caught between being a 70+ and a 58+ type. Thinking at this stage of his career he might be better suited carrying the weight in this grade. Should be about ready to fire. LA MORNE is first-up and is a regally bred mare who can go through the grades this time in. Has been a test of patience for Don & Graeme Hammarquist. PAGANI was a model of consistency when last in work. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 10 – 6 Suggested Bet – STARORIO WIN RACE 8 DANCE COCKEY is well placed and well weighted after the claim for Angie Johnston. Winner of a 58+ at Geraldton three starts ago and then placed in back to back 70+ sprints. The form through Startrade and Kenyluck is as good as it gets for the c70+ grade of racing in the region and from the barrier he can be right over the top of the speed. Has been up for a long while but shows no signs of training off. HERITAGE SASH should be getting the right run from the barrier and is a great pick up ride for Jerry Noske. GESSATO didn’t handle the dirt in Broome. Has proven himself a fresh horse in the past. PASSORT gets in on the minimum and has returned a much better horse this preparation. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – DANCE COCKEY WIN RACE 9 HE’S ON FIRE is drawn out in the middle of the Golf Course and has to carry 61kg however he was an impressive debut winner at Ascot in his one and only performance to date. Just wonder which horse Team Casey has targeted at this Geraldton meeting and get the feeling it might be him. With even luck he can remain undefeated. MYSTERY MAN has turned into a frustrating commodity to follow. Gordon Spowart is trying a few new things with him and he gets Troy Turner which is big. THREE SESSIONS ran them ragged to break maiden status. Can go on with it now. SEA LAKE a mad one for novelty players back on the grass. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 11 Suggested Bet – HE’S ON FIRE WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 3,4,5 1,2,10 1,2,3,10 2,3,5 Market Market
