Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on November 4, 2021November 4, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SNOWDOME was a tough watch on debut. Ended up leader’s back following the eventual winner Revitup and never really got a crack at her in the home straight. Travelled well, let down well after getting clear late and with race experience and another plumb barrier to work with fingers crossed he gets even luck here and we might see a handy 2 year old. POT SHOT was far more tractable last start. Blinkers go on, Pike sticks and from the gate will be up in the firing line again. STREET PARADE looks a readymade race horse and Rusty Stewart can get them up and going early. MAN CRUSH was a highly impressive trial. Barrier makes things very difficult for CJP. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 10 – 8 Suggested Bet – SNOWDOME WIN RACE 2 PONYO looks to have a class edge on rivals. The 3 year old Plate she contested last Saturday behind The Front Bar, Ultimate Command and Ain’t No Other Man looks a fair bit deeper and classier than what she meets here on the back-up. Blinkers on, claiming apprentice bringing the weight down and looks like getting to the breeze or even a sniff of finding the fence. From there she’s the one to beat. KNOT SECRET comes from the same race. 1200m is far more to his liking than 1000 and he looks a raw talent. MY MARLAINA is only coming from a Northam maiden win but she was dominant. Looks like she will measure up. THE LADY IS A VAMP gets a lovely tow into the race along the fence. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – PONYO WIN RACE 3 PURE DEVOTION is a classy mare who is ready to go through the grades now. Placed in the Ascot 1000 Guineas behind Brave Angel and Solaia, placed in the Natasha Stakes behind Solaia (beating home Reliable Star) and then narrowly denied in the WA Oaks at $1.85 by Lunar Impact, beating home subsequent Derby place getter Temptation. Inconvenienced at a crucial stage first-up, powered home off the back of a pedestrian tempo second-up against the early pattern and now steps to 2200m. Jett Stanley is 1/1 in the Apprentice races having saluted at Belmont on True Attraction and gets his chance to retain bragging rights. SECRET PEARL backs up off 7 days and is rock hard fit. Thrives on the 2200m and is ridden by the State’s best apprentice. Big respect. RELAIBLE STAR was savaging the line at trials. THERE’S A CHANCE bounces straight to the front and has been in white hot form on the Goldfields. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – PURE DEVOTION WIN RACE 4 SECRET STATUE was one of the few horses to make significant ground last Saturday behind highly progressive ratings type God Has Chosen. Thinking that will prove stronger you’re your average 60+ Graduation form line and he got speared off the corner when making his run. Stretching out to a mile, backing up off 7 days, William Pike back into the saddle and drawn to get a soft run tracking a hot tempo (Downtown Twain, Big Screen and Castillo Del Lago). Likely to open eachway and should be finishing there abouts in this. SPEED DREAM stepped straight from an impressive return at 1200m into a 1600. Three back the fence in a fast run race looks a suitable map for him. BIG SCREEN and CASTILLO DEL LAGO are both talented front running types who will ensure the race is run at a genuine tempo. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – SECRET STATUE EACHWAY RACE 5 BOPPING BLUE has had two 400m jump outs to prepare him for this first-up 1000m assignment. Looked very sharp in both of them, the recent in a blistering 23.13. Drawn in gate 7 yet looks a big chance to cross and find the fence. If he can clear those drawn inside of him and find the rail, he should take running down. Looks a speedy customer with some upside. TIMELY OUTBURST is an exciting mare who can definitely continue to go through the grades this campaign. Her 3 year old 62+ form is far superior to what the majority of rivals bring to the race, however, the barrier is a definite leveller. VADETTE DE STAR will sit back and be saved for one late burst. Got dropped off by Triple Missile last start in the straight but so would all of these. FOREST WAR split Triple Missile and Go Forward fresh. Great return to racing. Numbers: 9 – 3 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – BOPPING BLUE WIN RACE 6 COMFORT ME has returned in excellent order. The first-up run with 61kg when held up turning for home behind a tiring leader was eye-catching and then he won with arrogance last time out when given a peach by Pateman. The draw makes things interesting but he does have tactical speed and has won races sitting deep the trip previously. Looks destined for a crack at a feature race in the near future, be it an RJ Peters or a Carbine Club and this is another nice stepping stone towards those races. COCKNEY CREW and LORENTINIO are likely to lock horns and turn the pace on a fair way from home. Expecting the field to string out. DOM TO SHOOT won a Mornington Guineas last start. Strong form reference for a 72+. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – COMFORT ME WIN RACE 7 IT’SARAYDAY was backed from $6 into $3.20 in the Belgravia Stakes coming out of a C1 win at Northam. The money was relentless and just kept coming from 3pm Wednesday until they loaded in. Lost no admirers with a brave effort in defeat behind talented filly Searchin’ Roc’s who franked the form by running second to Buzzoom in the Burgess Queen Stakes on Tuesday. Raced wide throughout, raced greenly throughout and went down fighting. This looks a very thin Fairetha Stakes and from the barrier he should enjoy the run of the race. HE’S GOLD caught the eye in the same race. Looks to be screaming out for ground this time in and gets another 200m here. DEVOTED ran into Buzzoom and Hardly Ever in a particularly high rating 3 year old Graduation last start. PALE RIDER belted Champagne Dame 6 weeks ago. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – IT’SARAYDAY WIN RACE 8 VALOUR ROAD was targeted at a Winterbottom Stakes in 2020 and is targeting a Railway Stakes in 2021. With age and maturity he has gradually been looking for further and further and he looks a great eachway proposition the WAROA Lee Steere Stakes. Won the Group 3 Hyperion at WFA at Belmont over Winter and chased hard behind Dance Music and Massimo in the Northerly. Drawn to get a lovely run in a race with more tempo (addition of Too Close The Sun and The Velvet King to Dance Music & Massimo) and no doubt Simon Miller has started to tighten the screws heading into November. REGAL POWER was one of the runs of the race in the Northerly. Was a sit sprint affair and he did a super job to pick up under the 60.5kg and hit the line as well as he did. WFA is his go. THE VELVET KING has shown season after season that he’s a genuine A-Grader and his most recent trial chasing This’ll Testya was much better. DANCE MUSIC is just fool proof. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – VALOUR ROAD EACHWAY RACE 9 BRIGHT DIAMOND has been a wallet burner for punters over the last 12-18 months. Resumed over 1000m behind the flying machine Wilchino and was left floundering early and chasing throughout. Hit the line as well as anything and now out to 1200m gets her opportunity to bounce back into the winner’s circle. Even in defeat her form around Comfort Me, The Spruiker and Wilchino looks good for this full field 66+. THE FUGAZI is another who hasn’t won for a long while but he has come back to racing in extremely good order. Caught the eye first-up, caught the eye second-up. ANGELIC MISS is drawn a nightmare alley but she’s a winner and knows how to find the line. PULI reunites with Shaun O’Donnell and is proven in this grade. Numbers: 14 – 7 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – BRIGHT DIAMOND WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 3 3 1,2,3,4,6,7,9,10 1,5,7,9,12,14,16 Market Market
