Scott Embry’s Tuesday Ascot Preview Posted on November 1, 2021November 2, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 WRITTEN EXCEED won well on debut as a 2 year old and then finished midfield in two subsequent runs. Returns to the races as a gelding, looked sharp in his 400m jump out and is drawn gate 1 for Brad Rawiller with a set of blinkers on instead of visors from his initial preparation. Nice competitive and even race to start the Melbourne Cup Day program and he looks like getting the right run. ASTRAPE is clearly talented but gets hammered at the weights here with the 59kg. Has to concede some key rivals massive weight swings from their previous encounters. MAGIC TO EXCEED was strong on debut in a slick times race. He’ll be popular. SPARKING BLUE looks above average. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – WRITTEN EXCEED EACHWAY RACE 2 ATABOY CHARLIE makes his debut off the back of an impressive trial when under a Bradley Parnham stranglehold. Much like the recent trial of Magnificent Andy (debut winner from the same yard) he looks to have natural ability and looked to have plenty in the tank at trials. From the draw he should land a nice spot in running and looks more than capable of opening his account on debut. PLEMONT comes from stronger races and with the senior rider taking over and the inside barrier draw she looks well placed to make a race of it. Beaten 5L first-up, but by Buzzoom, Hardly Ever, Devoted and The Lady Is A Vamp. Huge respect for that form. GLACIER MISS is flying but will need conditions to suit given the gate. SERVICEMAN has ability and will be winning races. Numbers: 10 – 12 – 11 – 5 Suggested Bet – ATABOY CHARLIE WIN RACE 3 PAMBELLA is back in the good books after finally breaking through in a C1 two starts back and showing that she’s still got the zest for racing. Really attacked the line from an impossible position in running in a 60+ Graduation last start behind Roman Flirt. Was the eye catching run in replay, drops in grade and strikes a weak field. ZADAR ROCK will roll to the top and control the tempo. Expecting Jason Brown to get them rolling from the 600 and make them chase. DATALKA is racing in career best form. From the draw he’ll track the every move of Zadar Rock. NIGHT SESSION is building into the preparation. Might be looking for further but this is winnable. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – PAMBELLA WIN RACE 4 BEDOUIN BELLE has not been an easy mare to catch over her career but this is a fairly weak 60+ 0MWLY that might be right up her alley. Four starts ago finished second to Strathmore Rose beaten a nose, three starts ago finished third to Wilchino and Come Magic (Wilchino winner of two races since, Come Magic winner of two races since), two starts ago she got the job done in a C5 and last time out she finished fourth behind Safety Bay and Ginger Flyer (winner of two since). Brings the right form, back to 1100m and maps to get a nice run midfield. HUMAN NATURE brings Geraldton 70+ ratings form to the metro area. Senior rider on and should get a lovely run. MANTELLI will park in behind them and loomed into it last start like he was about to chime in. CROSS STATEMENT is eligible for easier but clearly capable. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – BEDOUIN BELLE WIN RACE 5 GO FORWARD really impressed at his WA debut. Commenced awkwardly and ended up much further back than anticipated and yet rattled to the line late to finish a highly encouraging third behind Triple Missile and Forest War. Forest War is a winner in this grade previously and Triple Missile looks like a stakes grade horse in the making. Strikes an easier race, stays on the 54kg minimum and Brad Parnham sticks. Looks like winning one in WA sooner rather than later. CRYPTO QUEEN was flying at trials recently. Those 930m straight Lark Hill trials are difficult to assess but she beat The Front Bar and stopped the clock at 53.84. Jump and run type. KATONA is ready to win one. Needs them to be making ground. DOUBLE JEOPARDY has come back to racing well for the new yard. Numbers: 11 – 10 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – GO FORWARD WIN RACE 6 ARCADIA GRACE brings the quality 3 year old form to a moderate C3 against the older horses. Steps to 1400m, blinkers on for the first time and sure to be one of the more popular runners on the program with punters. Burst onto the scene with an emphatic 1000m win on debut and then was run off her legs in the 3 year old Classic. Went around on the second line of betting in the Belgravia and looks very hard to hold out late here. FLICKA’S CHANCE scratched from Saturday to save for this. Going well. CHICLETT was a handy 3 year old filly and returns here in an easier grade of race than what she contested when last in work. RHYTHM STAR was a great trial. Numbers: 11 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – ARCADIA GRACE WIN RACE 7 MAGNIFICENT ANDY won well on debut. Sent to the breeze by Brad Parnham in an 1100m maiden and held off the late charge of Glacier Miss. Looked like he would appreciate further and SJ Miller immediately steps him out to 1400. Likely to have to breeze again but looks an above average type with a future. MRS AMERICA won a 1300m maiden on debut when gunning them down comfortably in style. Given a let up and then dropped back to 1100m which was a huge query on paper. Didn’t get within 4L of them and looked all at sea. Expecting to see a completely different filly here at 7 furlongs. PATCHWORK won well on debut at Geraldton off the back of a nice trial win. PORT BEACH is going better than it reads on paper. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 9 – 11 Suggested Bet – MAGNIFICENT ANDY WIN RACE 8 THE ROAN RANGER ran home in some of the better closing sections first-up behind Spritely Star and Jarman. That form looks sufficiently strong for a lowly C1. Can sustain a run and provided there’s a 3 deep train building into the race he should play a part in the finish at an eachway quote. Took a long time to break his maiden but now looks to have worked it all out. RED HOT HOPE broke his maiden in a 3-way photo with Hoover and subsequent 60+ Graduation winner Atlantis Beach. The way the race was run last start he was never a hope from the 1200m marker and worth forgiving and forgetting he went around. FUEL THE FRIAR hasn’t seen a C1 in a long while. Going quite alright in tougher recently. ENGLISH BAY rises 5kg coming out of a Geraldton maiden. Progressive filly but hard to line-up. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 12 – 11 Suggested Bet – THE ROAN RANGER EACHWAY RACE 9 TREASURED STAR is the All-In Favourite for the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic in December. If she’s going to rise to those lofty heights in time then she needs to be going very close in the Burgess Queen. She looks the real deal, she has been given the same Peters Investments preparation as the “good ones” in recent years and she has an electrifying turn of foot. Exciting proposition who will be charging late. With the depth to the field she is likely to be on the plus side of $2.50 throughout betting which will get many punters. SEARCHIN’ ROC’S showed that her winter 2 year old form was easily as good as the spring 3 year olds. She dominated in the Belgravia and should only improve out to 1400m. HOI AN hasn’t been in a winnable position first-up or second-up. Third-up she looks ready. HARDLY EVER has a set of shades on and a huge stable opinion on her. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 1 – 12 Suggested Bet – TREASURED STAR WIN RACE 10 MERCANTO only won a C1 last start but it was the manner in which he let down that makes you think he’ll be going through the grades and make his way to Saturday racing sooner rather than later. From the inside gate he’ll be tracking up along the fence and he’ll need an ounce of luck but there looks to be huge speed and pressure in this race (Crash Hat Lady, Trevern and Safety Bay) which should give CJP room to weave his magic as the field strings out. Can really ping if the gaps appear. AIRLIE QUEEN doesn’t have a gate to work with, but she has a burst of speed which can get her out of trouble. CRASH HAT LADY is an intriguing galloper. Seems the faster they let her go the better she is. High speed mare. TREVERN is going through the grades nicely but this is tougher. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – MERCANTO WIN Quaddie (Race 7 – 10) 4,7,9 1,2,4,6,7,11,12 3,10 1,5 Market Market
