Scott Embry’s Sunday Northam Preview Posted on October 1, 2021October 1, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 JALINDA BAY has caught the eye at trials on a number of occasions. Lark Hill trial when fourth in early September was as quiet as you’ll see and then the most recent trial was asked for an effort and kicked away late in the trial. In a race where Born To Talk and Dance Session will be burning early she’ll be chasing early and finishing hard late. DANCE SESSION is awfully quick. If Jason Brown can fend off Bradley Parnham early and hold the front without absorbing too much pressure, she’ll be hard to run down. BORN TO TALK was racing in a far tougher Saturday race last start and wasn’t too bad at 1200m. Looks a 1000m type at this stage of his career. VOGUE’S CHOICE finished third to Searchin’ Roc’s and was luckless that day. Has been trialling well. Great form race this. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – JALINDA BAY EACHWAY RACE 2 FINE ROMANCE is the first Cerise and White runner for Hayden Ballantyne as he steps up his training operation and teams up with the most powerful owner/breeder in the State. Ran second on debut to Searchin’ Roc’s in a 2 year old Set Weights and Penalties race and was enormous in defeat. Excited to see her back at the races and see what she can produce at her return. ROBERT THE BRUTE did a few things wrong on debut and still finished third to a talented galloper in Metallon. TOTAL LOCKDOWN didn’t have a set of blinkers on at trials and wasn’t fully tested by Tash Faithful. Went round short on debut in a race which contained Probity. I CAN SEE CLARA might still need further. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – FINE ROMANCE WIN RACE 3 NOBLE BORN was an alarming drifter on debut and then couldn’t find a spot in running. Always looked a chance of happening and he did it tough throughout. Never gave up the chase and finished an impressive third behind Trevern (subsequent C1 winner). Following up in a race where he could kick through to lead. DEVOTED will have a lot of admirers and you can appreciate why. The recent trial was highly impressive when she let loose late and from the draw she’ll have Noble Born within her sights. ALFRED COVE has been a follow from the trials. Hasn’t been asked for much and has looked to have something in reserve every time. TESTIFYING ran well on debut. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – NOBLE BORN WIN RACE 4 ADVANCED is the full brother to Platoon and looks to have his fair share of ability. The most recent trial he only got going in the last 200m and once he hit full steam he was savaging the line. Thinking that he’ll get out over further than the 1300m but provided he doesn’t get shuffled too far back in running he’ll be making a winning start to his career. CHAMPAGNE DIVA had no answers for Pale Rider last start. Better for the effort and from the front could skip away on the corner to make things interesting. ALMIGHTY MISS comes from the same trial as Advanced and gets in with only 51kg after the claim for Jett Stanley. SUPERIORIZE was huge on debut when finishing second to subsequent C3 winner Blazing Away. Numbers: 9 – 10 – 12 – 3 Suggested Bet – ADVANCED WIN RACE 5 GOLD FRIARS finished second to Mystery Moment when wide throughout first-up, finished second to Savanik (subsequent C1 winner) second-up when parking wide and looming large and then went around a short priced favourite when racing a little flat and finishing an uninspiring fourth. Willing to forgive and forget the last start and follow up on the previous form. THERE’S A THOUGHT was backed off the map at Belmont last start and ran well. Zadar Rock might be above average and Let’sdeal definite is. MY HIDDEN GEM beat him home last start and now has the services of W.Pike. Looks to be getting better with racing. JAMAICA JEUNEY didn’t get warm on debut. Still think she showed a glimpse at trials. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 11 – 14 Suggested Bet – GOLD FRIARS WIN RACE 6 IT’SARAYDAY should put on a galloping exhibition and ensure that Holly Watson returns to the saddle a winner. Beat up on them on debut at Belmont with a resounding win in complete dominance and style. If he kicks through to find the top it could become a margin job. Looks like a genuine Saturday Ascot type given a soft kill at Northam. AIRLIE QUEEN returns to the races and her recent trial was very handy behind Secret Plan and Fashion Queen. Looks destined to fill the exacta hole. EYE OF THE DAY is going well but runs into a few sharper than average C1 horses. AMBERGATE ROSE is a real trier. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – IT’SARAYDAY WIN RACE 7 STELLAR VISTA rises in grade from being beaten in a C1 to a C3, however, with Safety Bay winning a Westspeed Platinum in town and being the target of smart money, the form should be sufficiently strong to get the job done here. The second to Billy Ain’t Silly really stands out and the maiden win was over Starlift when conceding her 3kg. Looks a mare on the rise, just needs to sort out a few barrier/racing manners. STARLIFT is in grand form and after the claim for Victoria Corver looks the testing material. Ideally drawn and a mare in form. WORTH A RISK is a hard mare to run down when she races fresh. If Jett Stanley can find the front she’ll look the winner at the corner. SWEET STRAWBERRY gets some well deserved weight relief after carrying the grandstand in Kalgoorlie of late. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – STELLAR VISTA WIN RACE 8 FAR TOO STRONG returned a winner in a 3 year old 1600m Plate beating Henchard and River Rubicon. Should only improve fitness wise and while he will ultimately step out over further and further into the campaign he looks more than capable of beating the older horses in the Ladies Day Cup. Expecting Paul Harvey to put him into the race and ensure it’s not turned into a sit sprint. SAVANIK has returned a different mare this campaign ridden cold. Showing a wonderful turn of acceleration. DARK LASS couldn’t match motors with her last start and only gets a small weight swing on her. WEE RIPPER is a handy horse on his day. Numbers: 7 – 10 – 11 – 5 Suggested Bet – FAR TOO STRONG WIN RACE 9 BUZZOOM should notch her second win in a C1. Ran second first-up to Bitofmerit, ran second second-up to Probity. They both look like handy three year olds and Buzzoom returns to an all age C1 event and gets in with 1kg less than she carried against her own age group in 3yo 0MWLY company. Perfectly draw, perfectly placed. Should prove too sharp for her main danger. SPRITELY STAR resumes and unlike a number of her fellow 4 year olds stays with the Grant & Alana Williams yard. Loved the recent trial behind It’sarayday and likely settles inside of Buzzoom. MAIN ENGINE has ability but runs into two very good C1 horses. BLACK CHIPS trialled great for his return. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – BUZZOOM WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 2 1,2,5 3,4,5,7,10,11 7 Market Market
