Scott Embry’s Wednesday Geraldton Preview Posted on September 28, 2021September 28, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 KOLCHINO has been kept quiet at the trials and has hit the line nicely in every single on. Makes his debut at 1400m in a Geraldton maiden as part of Darren Taylor’s travelling team and he could well find himself in a very different position in running compared to his trials. Eased at every trial and in the small field should sit far closer on debut. Looks to have a motor and looks to have struck a winnable race. TRADED CROWN has been knocking on the door in the metro and provincial maidens. This looks a lovely assignment for him to break through. RED CADILLAC gets back in her races but has a turn of foot. Should be winning a maiden soon. ARTIE gets the run of the race and some weight relief. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – KOLCHINO WIN RACE 2 ASTARBA can get Mitchell Pateman’s Geraldton season off to flyer. Drawn the inside gate, has tactical speed to lead or box seat and at opening day the fence is usually the place to be. Last campaign with Chris Willis finished third behind Image Keeper beaten only 3L, third behind Scorpion Stormz and Famous Jurney and then finished the preparation going round favourite in a metro maiden at Ascot. Looks a weak race and gets his chance. QUAN joins the Sean Rains yard and he is a genius at getting horses up and going first-up, no trial. Keep safe. HOOTIE DA BLOWFISH will no doubt be looking for the fence in a jump and run mission. IVONIC showed something at the trials. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – ASTARBA WIN RACE 3 SPEEDING COMET won well in the Mt Augustus Sprint with 59.5kg and after the claim for Jett Stanley gets in with a winnable weight. Leaves cleanly, tracks up in his races and the 1100m is about perfect for him. Should be right in the mix at his return to Mitchell Pateman racing. HUMAN NATURE may be suspect late at 1100m but his overall race form is super for Geraldton c70+ handicap racing. He is BM84+ placed at Moonee Valley and only two campaigns ago was going round in Listed Races in Victoria. ANGRY ANNIE went round a $4.40 chance in the Coolgardie Sprint. Five time winner at Geraldton and drawn perfectly. KENYLUCK won first-up no trial last campaign, and the campaign before. Flies fresh and loves Gero 1100m racing. Great race. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – SPEEDING COMET WIN RACE 4 STARTRADE won a 58+ 1100m at Geraldton as an even money chance only three starts ago beating talented pair Invincible Warrior and Midnight Rocket. Huge in defeat behind Trade Thunder and Bombay Style at his next start before finishing the preparation with a heartbreak narrow defeat in the Sky Provincial Championship Series heat. Has run well fresh in the past and is drawn a gate to get a lovely run. If Kim Anderson has him ready it’s a great race for him. LORDING has promised to win good races in town. Enormous in C1 company at times and only two starts ago was well supported to beat Miss Conteki. DANCE COCKEY is race fit and should be right up on speed. LA CHIAVE won off a similar preparation/freshen last campaign. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – STARTRADE WIN. RACE 5 BLUE HORSE looks to be the testing material coming back in grade and heading up the highway to Geraldton. Rarely does Ash Maley go a meeting without a winner in the country when he travels and his girl Blue Horse looks one of the best chances for the yard. Fourth behind Ginger Flyer in a Westspeed 1400 (m58+), fifth behind Big Screen in a C3 (m54+) and now drops into a c50+ in a great piece of placement. Looks hard to beat with clear galloping room. STIGWOOD could be a sharp improver. Is an on speed type who was ridden cold first-up in WA at an unsuitable trip. This is a nice race for him. DREAM EVIL gets the run of the race. Has mainly wet track form which is the query. SHECKY’S MATE has no weight and can nearly roll to the top. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – BLUE HORSE WIN RACE 6 MINER ADDICTION only comes from a maiden into a 58+ which is always hard to do, however, gets weight relief down to 54kg, is to be ridden by the undisputed King of Geraldton in Troy Turner, has tactical speed and is drawn to get a lovely run in the box seat. No surprise to see her go back to back. STARORIO won an identical version of this race first-up last campaign for Cliff Green and Shaun O’Donnell. Draw hurts. PELICAN PICK raced well at Carnarvon. If he can take that form to the grass he’s a live hope. MEGADON loves racing at Geraldton. Drawn terribly but has a turn of foot. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – MINER ADDICTION WIN RACE 7 MYSTERY MAN has the weight to carry but should prove too classy and a more than handy acquisition to the Gordon Spowart yard. First-up ran fourth behind Apple Schnapps and Crpyto Queen, second-up ran into the undefeated Pepper Assault when finishing second, third-up went around hard in the market when disappointing finishing midfield. Lots of horses here are first-up and unlikely to figure at 1200m so he gets a wonderful chance from an ideal draw to open his Geraldton account. SLY AS A FOX flew first-up for Kim Anderson last campaign. Gate hurts but the horse has above average ability for this grade. WARM ‘N’ FUZZY is extremely quick. The last 200m might be testing. I HOPE YOU DANCE has been up for an eternity but her grass runs at the end of the Geraldton season were strong. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – MYSTERY MAN WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3,4 1,2,6,7 2,3,6,8,10 1,2,4 Market Market
