Scott Embry’s Saturday Newman Preview Posted on August 19, 2021August 19, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 WEONA BRUTE finished off the Broome season in style with back to back wins. After the Austin Galati claim drops half a kilo on last start and should prove too strong for them again. Going great guns (all of Steele Caseys). LIES N DECEPTION gets his chance to find the front. That can put him right into the race. MASTERING brings the intrigue and unknown element with exclusively Perth Metro form. Finds a new home with Tank Pateman (aka the Real Pateman) and is a huge X-Factor. MISS CIRCLEWORK is no stranger to these sorts of tracks and is never far away. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – WEONA BRUTE WIN RACE 2 OLD BAILEY looks to have found an ideal race. Drops out of 58+ and 70+ racing at Broome where finishing second to Slick Unit and within 4L of Wiener Waltz, Shackleton, Speeding Comet and other much stronger types than what he meets here. Perfectly placed and while he rises sharply in weight, he gets the claim of Austin Galati to help. Jump, run and catch me if you can tactics. BACKTOBEVERLY is a 9 year old veteran as is MISS HARLEY QUINN, both have races left in them and both are racing well enough figure here. BRICK SHORT improved sharply late in the Broome season and looks to have finally found her feet. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – OLD BAILEY WIN RACE 3 DANEHILL STORM didn’t win one in Broome but raced consistently throughout the season without a lot of luck. Last two starts finished 4L off Watch Me Ney Ney, King of Planets and Ferngrove in a winner producing race and then 4.75L off Stevie’s Wonder, Nevarda and In The Bag. Looks the strongest form lines and finds a race without any speed. Thinking Kate Southam can find the front and from there he’ll go very close. FRIARS FANCY is the obvious danger on what looks a nice day on paper for Bruce Kay. Looks to get a gun run. MIYAGI didn’t go a yard at Broome in her first few outings. Showed something out in trip last start. DYNAMITE ALF next best tracking along the inside. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – DANEHILL STORM WIN RACE 4 WIENER WALTZ and DESERT THORN have been going head to head over the last few meetings at the back end of the Broome season including in the Broome Sprint. With the pull in the weights and the white hot form of the Steele Casey yard siding with WIENER WALTZ again who has proven himself a wonderful 70+ type in the region. Jumps, tracks the tempo set by King of Planets and holds a tactical advantage on Desert Thorn. DESERT THORN is a dirt specialist and is one of the horses where you simply ignore the weight column. He has an amazing turn of foot. DANCE COCKEY is the weight horse with the claim of Angela Johnston. Keep safe. KING OF PLANETS is jump and run material. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – WIENER WALTZ WIN RACE 5 SPEED N REEF is a 12 year old at start number 98 but looks to be a live hope in the BHP Newman Cup of 2021. Gets a lot of weight on many rivals from the Roebourne Cup when finishing third behind Scenic Lord and Macavity and then again on Scintillating and other who come from the obvious form reference, the Port Hedland Cup behind Broome Cup winner Staaden. That race was run 6L faster than Port Hedland Cup average and it has already proven itself the best form. Go well old boy. SCINTILLATING has been a great acquisition for Matthew Stephens. Meets Speed N Reef 3.5kg worse but the senior rider vs apprentice rider offsets that. BULLETSON brings the Broome form and is a proven dirt stayer. SCENIC LORD won the Roebourne Cup and ran fourth in the Port Hedland Cup. Numbers: 11 – 3 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – SPEED N REEF EACHWAY RACE 6 PIT TO WIN won back to back C2 events at Broome to start the season and then since has run three moderate midfield efforts, two of them with genuine excuses. Last start finished fourth behind Ferngrove, Nevarda and Watch Me Ney Ney. Should be great form for this and looks another great chance for Bruce Kay & Austin Galati (jockey challenge?). BRAVE CONTENDER like Danehill Storm didn’t win a race in the Broome season but ran some really nice races including a second to Desert Thorn. KARAOKE EXPRESS and YOURTHEONEFORME will take care of the speed and both can win again. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 8 – 11 Suggested Bet – PIT TO WIN WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 2,3,7 1,2,4 2,3,5,11 1,3,4,8,11 Market Market
