Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on August 19, 2021August 23, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 TRIX OF THE TRADE has his first crack at Saturday racing but it is hard to ignore the way he has won his first two career starts. Won with arrogance on debut when a soft winner on a Heavy8 and then backed it up when sitting close to the speed and absorbing the pressure of a rolling front runner like Wuhan Warrior before putting him to the sword with 60kg. Is again drawn perfectly and should go close to making it three from three before a spell. THE FRONT BAR let down like a proper filly last start when descending upon them from an impossible position. Previous start lead them up so has more than sufficient tactical speed to take up a position and looms as a big danger. HE’S A SIZZLER was eye catching in defeat first-up behind The Front Bar and gets a 3.5kg weight swing on her. Don’t discount. STATE OF POWER is racing well. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – TRIX OF THE TRADE WIN RACE 2 WILCHINO is simply proving far too slick and classy for rivals as she continues to record blisteringly quick 1000m wins. Broke 58 seconds last start on a Soft5 when dominating from the breeze and in this Westspeed Platinum event she can either cross them or sit outside the returning mare Come Magic. From either position she’s awfully hard to beat. Only minor query is the 60kg impost. BEDOUIN BELLE backs up off 7 days after going extremely close to running down talented mare Strathmore Rose. Love the use of the Ramoly 2kg claim and gets an identical run in transit. COME MAGIC brings intrigue. Maiden mare but also a Black Type mare having finished third behind Starfield Impact and Watch Me Dance in the 2020 Group 3 Gimcrack stakes. REQUISTION will be doing his best late. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – WILCHINO WIN RACE 3 MARLIZE looks to have found a winnable race in the metro area. Could make a genuine winning case for all 9 runners in a wide open 1MW 60+ 1400m. Marlize looks a barrier mare, every time she is drawn a soft gate to get a nice tow into the race, she shows a sharp turn of foot late in her races. Should get those conditions here tracking Next Stop The Moon and Irritable Rodnee into the race. NEXT STOP THE MOON comes back in trip, has a senior rider on and should roll straight to the top and control the race. TEMPTACION carries a big weight as a newly turned 4 year old mare having finished second to Western Empire in the WATC Derby. Skyrocketed in the ratings but looks to have plenty of wins left. DEVOTED STAR has been a wallet burner over the years but this does look like a nice race for her. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – MARLIZE EACHWAY RACE 4 ALL MAN looks to have found his most suitable assignment of the preparation. Obviously Sluice Box will take beating after putting on an exhibition last start but All Man has been going well the entire campaign and gets massive weight swings from recent head to head contests. Beat Sluice Box home by 2L in the Melarab race and meets him 2kg better at the weights. Last time they met he got caught up in traffic and was shuffled back at crucial stages and 7 days ago he finished 2L off Zaratite and Bella’s Idol. This is his opportunity. SLUICE BOX let down incredibly well last start off the back of a pedestrian tempo mid-race. When the stayers are getting home in 34.77 they’ve walked to the 600. Has to reproduce and has to carry the weight. ARAGAIN went around favourite in the same race and meets him 3kg better at the weights. No speed in this and can settle much closer. ALLEZ ALLEZ is having his first start at the trip but looks a staying type. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – ALL MAN EACHWAY RACE 5 MISS ZEDEL was the forgotten mare last start and got under the guard of the market. Suffered cardiac arrhythmia the start prior and before that was in hot form in the Goldfields. Adam Durrant on fire, Clint Johnston-Porter in a position for a breakout season. Draw hurts but if CJP can get her into a position with cover she’s a mare on the rise who can get over them late. GUNNAGO has been a model of consistency throughout his career. Raced in higher grade his past 11 starts before dropping into this grade at his most recent. Hard to fault. WHAT ABOUT MOI finished off nicely last start and should position up closer here. Set of winkers on could give him another element of improvement. BROTHER PADDY can be forgiven for last start. Going alright. Numbers: 9 – 3 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – MISS ZEDEL EACHWAY RACE 6 MONTELENA ran the fastest last 400 and last 200 of the Ngawyni and now stepping out to 1600m looks ready to return to the winner’s circle. Trialled up nicely for her return when splitting Regal Power and Rebel Knight and then was simply run off her legs first-up at 1200 in the HG Bolton. Got caught flat footed last start when the sprint went on and then got home nicely late when she finally balanced up. Chris Parnham returns to the saddle and Darren McAuliffe is returning to form. TRUE ATTRACTION was backing up off 7 days from 2100 to 1400 last start. This looks a much more structured race day spacing. RED PUBLISHER is racing out of his skin as a 10 year old. Would be great to see him pinch one. LONSDALE LADY took charge of the rider 7 days ago and galloped a hard lap of Belmont before being scratched on order of stewards. Hard to line up. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – MONTELENA WIN RACE 7 LONDON MISS looks well placed back into a 1MW 60+ 1200 after being more than competitive in two 66+ ratings races recently. Hugely honest and consistent mare who will track the tempo likely to be set by Zephyr Queen and this preparation has placed to Agent Jay on a Heavy track in 60+, finished third behind Reign of Fire in a 66+ on a Heavy (beating home Miss Vasari) and finished only 2L off Notorious One in another 66+. Maps well, well placed, runs for Lucy Warwick and ticks plenty of boxes. CAMPESE was plunged at his WA debut and punters were left scratching their heads after he pulled up last. Had genuine excuses, went back to trials and then matched motors with Kaptain Kaos last start. MISS VASARI went around odds on in a 66+ last start. Huge respect for a mare with a big turn of foot when she gets the right run. ZEPHYR QUEEN fought on bravely last start. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – LONDON MISS EACHWAY RACE 8 ALL DAY SESSION has Brad Rawiller riding 56kg which is a push in itself. Coming out of 3 year old 62+ racing and finds himself drawn an ideal barrier at what looks on paper to be his pet distance. Ash Maley is having an enormous start to 2021 and All Day Session is a 3 time winner over 1000m on rain affected tracks. Should get conditions to suit, should get a map to suit and brings the right form references. STATE ATTORNEY is well placed by Michael Grantham into a 66+. Rarely seen in this grade and is one of the biggest “barrier horses” in the State. When he draws in close, he runs well. WEAPONSON can stalk the speed from the inside gate and ran some big races last campaign including a narrow second to Resortman in the Ducimus Crown at Pinjarra. ISEERED ISEERED is drawn awkwardly but hugely talented. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – ALL DAY SESSION EACHWAY RACE 9 NOTORIOUS ONE is one of the more exciting and entertaining (tongue in cheek) gallopers to watch go through the grades in Western Australia. When he lets down, he has gears that the rivals he is meeting in ratings races simply don’t possess but he is also never going to win by a big margin because he does so much wrong in his races. Doubt we’ll ever see him put it all together mentally but what we’re seeing now is still good enough to win far better races than 72+ grade. HARRY THOMAS is extremely well placed back into a 72+ by Ross Price. After the claim he gets in with a winnable weight and will likely go round a juicy quote. MIRACLE MAN hasn’t been seen for a long while but his recent trials suggest that Jordy Rolfe has him going well. PHONEME did it tough first-up at an unsuitable trip. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – NOTORIOUS ONE WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 3,4,5,6,7,8 1,2,3,4,5,6 1,2,7 1,2,3 Market Market
