Scott Embry’s Saturday Broome Preview Posted on July 30, 2021July 30, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MIAMI MOON is a 15 start maiden but gets one of her best chances yet to break through. Looks likely to cross from out deep and find the front, with the drop in distance back to 1200m bringing her right into the mix. Was beaten 10L last start by The Fibonacci, but that also means she beat the vast majority of rivals home too. Gets her chance. MORGAN LE FAYE is a big chance if leaving the gates cleanly. Can be hit and miss out of the machine so fingers crossed. WILD STAR is a professional trials horse trying to pinch a maiden. Much better last start at Derby. KALAKAUA has been going well and can definitely win. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – MIAMI MOON WIN RACE 2 WARFISH looks extremely well placed here to score. First start on the dirt was in a C2 when going round a $3.60 chance but clearly resenting the kickback when unable to find a position in running. Last start stepped not a 70+ and went round $6 when sharply improving behind Strike Force. Drops back to a C2, can find the front if ridden for speed and is capable of lumping the big weight. PRINCE SAIYAN was a strong first-up winner in a small field at Broome and then was a big long stewards report read at Derby. Can bounce back. NOBLE SPIRIT finally broke through after a consistent run of minor placings. ALL METAL will appreciate the weight relief. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – WARFISH WIN RACE 3 CRASH HAT LADY lost no admirers in a 58+ last start after leading them running and only run down late by Nevarda and Unbreakable. Drops from a 58+ back into a 50+ and the last time she was in this grade was an all the way winner by over 7.5L. Comes across, works to the top and should dominate from there. HOOLAHOOPS has promised to win a race all season but has just flattened off recently. Drawn the right gate to track Crash Hat Lady throughout. JONO is going well but does himself no favours out of the gates. KARAOKE EXPRESS an improver at odds. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – CRASH HAT LADY WIN RACE 4 SLICK UNIT and KING OF PLANETS are both high speed, sprinting types who are stretching at the 1435 and likely to lock horns throughout having both drawn wide and alongside each other. Going to side narrowly with SLICK UNIT who last start was brave in defeat when collared late by Big Blows. Loving life in Broome and going along in career best form. KING OF PLANETS has been a revelation this season and a great horse for Rosie Mahony to showcase her skills. Jumps, runs and often keeps going. WATCH ME NEY NEY will be suited by the tiring leaders late in the race. PIT TO WIN has overcome some issues recently. Early season form was excellent. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – SLICK UNIT WIN RACE 5 DESERT THORN has just been a continual follow horse this Broome season since his emphatic first-up win over 1000m. So far has had five starts for 3 wins and with the weight again coming off with the claiming apprentice he’s going to be hard to hold out late. Does seem to fly for Col Haddon but see no reason why Austin Galati can’t get him to go through his gears and run them down again. SPEEDING COMET brings intrigue, especially with former trainer Mitchell Pateman heading up to ride. 62kg is no worries for #speedy and provided Mitchell has stuck to the Smirnoff Seltzers 62kg shouldn’t worry him either. SALORSCI is a huge X-Factor. His best would see him winning by margin. Hopefully for Jeff Noske he’s somewhere near that. WIENER WALTZ would be hard to run down if he can kick through to lead. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – DESERT THORN WIN RACE 6 DECEPTION GAME won a 70+ over 1600m in style when put into the race by Hall and then was left as last man standing in the Cable Beach Cup when the leaders went absolutely bananas mid-race and poured the pressure on throughout. Likely to again position up just in behind them and stalk. Cup King in a Cups race. Iconic. STRIKE FORCE was utterly enormous in that race. He absorbed so much pressure and was still kicking with 200m to go. In theory gets it much softer here. BIG BLOWS can always be forgiven. If Michelle Hagley is running him then he’s good to go. CORPORATE LARRIKIN would have slept well that night after working hard (understatement) throughout. Love to see the old boy get across. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – DECEPTION GAME WIN RACE 7 BULLETSON hit the line hard two starts ago behind In The Bag and Stafford’s Lad in an encouraging performance. Almost caused the boilover in the Cable Beach Cup when sneaking runs throughout in a cheeky and talented bit of riding from Jerry Noske. All rivals from that race progress to the Kimberley Cup and he drops back into a 56+. Hard to beat. ZIP YOUR LIPS hasn’t quite gone as well as anticipated this season but you can’t discount him with Peter Hall aboard. Watch for any sprinkling of money. RED’S MATE has shown that his best is good enough with back to back impressive off-speed wins only a month ago. REVEREND JOHN is the kind of horse who can give a real sight if leading. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – BULLETSON WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3,4,5,6,7,8 1,2,3,6 1,2,5 1,3 Market Market
