Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on May 11, 2021May 11, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 NOWHITEFLAG didn’t get the running start to his career that many were hopeful of but still lost no admirers. Went under at the hands of speedy and talented filly Born Spicy and now has his chance to roll forward and show what he has under the hood round the bend. Forgiving and following up. PINK CARATS looks to have stolen it last start when nailed last by Spirited Session. Won’t be a maiden long. TALKALLOUWANT won a trial by a space recently and some of the runs have had merit. GLASS OFF next best from the soft draw. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – NOWHITEFLAG WIN RACE 2 ACTING GOD should be able to position up outside or just behind Rag N Boneman and from there will have main rivals Brave Battle and Queens High behind him. From there he gets his chance and has continued to improve. Last two runs are definitely good enough to win this. BRAVE BATTLE resumes first-up no trial at 1600m but looks an out and out stayer. Went under at $4 and $1.50 in his first preparation so tread with caution. RAG N BONEMAN ran well at Northam last start. QUEENS HIGH ran out of her skin at her return. Big query on the form. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – ACTING GOD WIN RACE 3 PICK AND PAY came through a pair of nice quiet trials when resuming for a new yard. Was well found in the market ($18 into $8) and ran well. Should get a near identical run from the draw and from either box seat or three back the fence he’ll be dangerous late. PLATINUM LABEL has done nothing wrong in two runs back. From the draw Pateman has options. BIG BREAK caught the eye late in the trial under Tash Faithfull. Watch the market. TRULY RELIABLE was $41 into $6.50 last start but looked awfully one paced. Shades reapplied. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 9 – 5 Suggested Bet – PICK AND PAY WIN RACE 4 QUEEN BROWN is extremely well placed by the astute Danny Morton yard. Resumed in a Saturday 3 year old race when chasing throughout behind Acromantula, Vadette De Star and Miss Livinia. Those three fillies look like winning plenty of Saturday races over winter and Queen Brown drops into a Northam C5. ABERDEEN QUEEN resumes and while this might be on the short side for her she’s proven in stronger company than this. Class takes her a fair way. NOBLE REFLECTION is going well and will run his usual honest and consistent race. SECRET ASSAULT jumps and runs. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – QUEEN BROWN WIN RACE 5 QUEEN OF SOUL resumes from a long absence (397 days) making her a risky betting proposition but she has trialled up well and has strong form to her name. On debut she ran fourth behind Amelia Bedelia and Weaponson and at her only run of the last preparation finished within half a length of Captain Kink. Hard to beat if she’s wound up. CHOIX DE LACE gets some weight relief with the claim for Holly Watson. 1100m is probably on her limit but it’s an excellent use of the claim. CHADS ME DAD ran well on debut but is drawn awkward. BARNSLEY BOY had no luck first-up and fought on well. Numbers: 6 – 10 – 11 – 2 Suggested Bet – QUEEN OF SOUL WIN RACE 6 KEEPER SWEET showed glimpses in her first preparation. At her third start she finished fourth but finished within three quarters of She’s God To You, Island Charm and Justhandy. That form reads up well for this. Likely to go round an eachway quote and could surprise a few of the fancies. MEMORABLE MISS will have a lot of admirers and has impressed at both trials in this preparation. Most recent trial was tailed off before going searching for runs in the home straight. MINI COAT has run some cheeky races in a short career. FAIROGUE can give cheek if finding the front. Numbers: 10 – 13 – 9 – 6 Suggested Bet – KEEPER SWEET EACHWAY RACE 7 STANDOUT ROSE beat handy 3 year olds Miss Vasari and Cable Boy first-up before going under in a tough watch for favourite backers when splitting Me N Taz and Glasgow Girl after finding a lot of traffic at Bunbury. Since then has run third to Billy Ain’t Silly in a 3 year old handicap and was caught up in a muddling mile in a 60+ against the older horses Freshened, back in trip and back in grade. Ticks plenty of boxes. BUTTERLEA LAD is the kind of horse who can make his own luck out in front. Looks like he and Holly Watson will get along perfectly. PRIZE PURUSIT is double nominated. If he goes to this race, he’s a live chance. TREVELLO gave Jett Stanley his first winner and can give him another without surprising. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – STANDOUT ROSE WIN RACE 8 GO IT ALONE drops back 900m coming out of the Road To Jericho Qualifier Cup race at Albany. Lightly raced and looks to have some raw staying ability. Looks like he could win a few winter staying races and can start his run here. Was the target of smart money a few times in similar C1 staying events at Ascot. GEE FORCE looks like he will stay all day and was the beneficiary of a Pike peach last start when pinching every run possible. PASARAN has mixed his form for a while but best is good enough. ROYAL CHOISIR next best. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – GO IT ALONE WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,3,4,6,10,11 2,3,6,9,10,11,12,13 1,5 1,2 Market Market
