Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on April 15, 2021April 15, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MIAMI CITY ran into smart filly Miss Livinia last Sunday at Pinjarra down the 1000m straight. The maidens broke 58 seconds on a rain affected track which suggests it could be one way traffic in markets. Has always promised to win one and has come back to racing well. Steps to 1100m, drawn a gate, race fit and Pateman has option from the draw with speed drawn wide in Old Times & Blue Eyed Girl. Looks his chance. LONEHAND LARRY showed a bit on debut behind Beau Zoom and then didn’t let down second-up at 1400m. New yard, nice trial and soft draw. KEEP IT HUSH turned a corner late last preparation and is honest. YARDMAN had his chance in back to back weak metro maidens at 1400 & 1600 last prep. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – MIAMI CITY WIN RACE 2 CHANTORQUE is a short course specialist and Placid Ark Stakes wining filly resuming. Plunged first-up last preparation when beating the older horses before knocking off Charleton Eddie at 1000 and again at 1200 in the Placid Ark. Defeat last campaign was at the hands of Kissonallforcheeks, Solaia and Western Empire. Impossible to knock anything she’s produced. ISEERED ISEERED went to a new level tow balling the leader and sprinting off the back of a strong tempo. Repeat race conditions and map for him. ACROMANTULA sits over the speed and will be winning plenty of races. VADETTE DE STAR burst onto the scene with a blistering turn of foot on debut. Has to round them up from last. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – CHANTORQUE WIN RACE 3 IMAGE KEEPER defied an alarming drift first-up after an impressive trial victory over subsequent winner Material Witness. Broke his maiden well at Bunbury when breezing and then lead them up last week in a C1 with 60kg on a soft7 when beating talented filly She’s God To You. Again Pateman is drawn a gate where he has options and Image Keeper looks to have untapped ability. Horse on the rise. SIR MAMBO is 35 days between runs and has a bar plate added. His overall form is excellent for a race like this, it’s just the big red flag that is his off fore. SCOOTER’S MACHINE is far better suited at 1200m than he was last start at 1000. PINK ‘N’ GRAY did it tough last start and kept coming. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – IMAGE KEEPER WIN RACE 4 MISS CONTEKI is an exciting mare emerging through the grades. Beat up on moderate midweek opposition first-up when charging home in a blistering 33.33 final 600 and then repeated the dose in 72+ grade when launching late to nail River Beau in the shadows. River Beau backed up and beat boom filly Clairvoyance to make the form look outstanding. Steps to 1200m and gets back but is a huge raw talent. NERODIO is more than capable of making a race of it. He has tactical speed to hold up leader’s back and a turn of acceleration that makes him dangerous with even luck. Won first-up last two preparations. CHIX PIC was a massive run first-up no trial. MY DEMI backs up and drops huge weight. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – MISS CONTEKI WIN RACE 5 UNENDING looks just about ready to peak fifth up into the preparation. These 60+ staying races have thinned out in the last month or so with the vast array of staying options at the minute with country cups and Jericho heats galore so while she rises in grade, she doesn’t strike any stars. Drawn to get a soft run midfield and needs every inch of the trip. FINAL CHILL has been a revelation the last two starts. Starting to emerge as a talented stayer. Scratched from Wednesday to chase the bigger $$ on offer here. SHEIKH IT gets massive weight relief as a 3 year old taking on the older horses at 2100 and was a much improved run last start. SO SCHMICK has grown a leg since joining SJ Wolfe. Copped a big penalty for last weekend’s Narrogin Cup win. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 12 – 1 Suggested Bet – UNENDING EACHWAY RACE 6 RIVER BEAU has put in four career best performances this campaign and continues to return a higher rating each and every start. First-up broke 33 seconds L600 when savaging the line after missing away, second-up sat leader’s back and zapped Mood Swings, third-up did everything but win when nailed on the post by Miss Conteki and last start sat three deep the trip no cover and got past Clairvoyance in the shadows. Drawn another woeful alley but showed last start it really makes no difference to him. CAPTAIN KINK gets 2.5kg on River Beau from their last encounter and box seats a blistering tempo. PLUTOCRACY gets the speed on and will have last crack. WE’VE GOT DREAMS is a fool proof jump and run mare but is likely to absorb some serious pressure. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – RIVER BEAU WIN RACE 7 BIG BADA BOOM is a massive beneficiary of the early scratching of likely leader Saucy Jack and possible withdrawal of Our Idyll (Geraldton Cup acceptor). Pateman should now have no troubles in sliding across from the wide gate to settle right over the speed, either breezing or rolling to the top. Last start was 7 weeks between runs at 1800m and had to do all the work tracking up a strong tempo set by 500-1 pop Reverend John. Form franked with Kerman Rock running third in the WATC Derby. Should only improve for the run. OUR IDYLL was nailed on the post in the Narrogin Cup last weekend. Should enjoy a soft run leader’s back here and goes well off the back-up. BONNEVILLE BLACK has blinkers re-attached. Was flying last preparation with them on. MISS MARIETTA again has to overcome a nightmare barrier draw. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – BIG BADA BOOM WIN RACE 8 EX SPORT MAN is attempting to become the first horse to win the WA Juvenile Triple Crown (Pinjarra Magic Millions, Karrakatta Plate, WA Sires’ Produce). Hard to look past the Karrakatta Plate quinella at set weights and see no reason why Ex Sport Man can’t win again. Provided he stays out of trouble he has proven himself to have a sustained turn of foot and the way he races it looks like 1400m (and beyond) is where we will see his best. LIWA was stiff in the Karrakatta Plate when trying to squeeze between Pat’s Got Sass and Flying Missile. She is the obvious danger on paper. KAYMAY made an impression on debut. HOI AN didn’t show up in the Karrakatta Plate but is likely to be within striking distance in a less frantic race. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 11 – 9 Suggested Bet – EX SPORT MAN WIN RACE 9 BILLY AIN’T SILLY is brilliantly placed by the astute Colin Webster yard. Blinkers went on two starts ago and he ran them ragged in a lowly C1 before heading to town and sitting on top of a strong tempo before letting down powerfully turning for home to win by over a length and a half. Stamped himself as a highly progressive 3 year old and he should idle outside of Me ‘N’ Taz here before being unleashed turning for home. AMELIA’S CONTRAIRE looks the testing material on paper with a solid effort last start from a tough draw. Can settle much closer from the barrier and has been going well all prep. HOLY GHOST can’t draw a gate on Saturdays but is bursting to win a race. TINSNIP has a big weight to lump. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – BILLY AIN’T SILLY WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 4,5,6,8,10 1,2,3,4,6 1,7 2,3 Market Market
