Scott Embry’s Sunday Mount Barker Preview Posted on March 12, 2021March 12, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ROCK OF KAHA trialled up alright and then was beaten out of sight on debut behind subsequent C1 winner Strathmore Rose. Sharp improver second-up when sitting in the breeze and chasing hard throughout behind Sweet Demand. Lightly raced, seemingly improving and Laqdar Ramoly on anything is a bonus. AURAE was a frustrating mare to follow in the Kalgoorlie and early Esperance seasons. Promised more than Bill Shorten and delivered the same amount. ROYAL WHISPER returned to racing well and is drawn soft. YUNA MAILMAN an improver. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – ROCK OF KAHA WIN RACE 2 TEMPEST MISS ran well on debut when flashing home into fourth behind Master Moore, City Ladies and Unitool. Questionable form the maiden handicap races but her effort was full of merit and after the claim for Victoria Hill she’s both well weighted and well drawn. VRUM has shades on and if he can simply reproduce the run behind Dark Assault and Ginger Green he would be the one to beat. SPIRIT OF PROPHECY is a hard mare to catch. Last start was nearly career best for her and showed some grit in the run to the line. ARAMAT wasn’t bad last start. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – TEMPEST MISS WIN RACE 3 BRAGWELL is placed to perfection by Steve Wolfe. No way in the world we’ll see black figures on paper sadly but he still should put on a galloping exhibition. Second in a 60+ Graduation, sixth in a Fairetha Stakes, fifth in a WA Guineas (behind Watch ME Dance, Em Tee Aye, Dom to Shoot and Western Empire), second in a 60+ Graduation behind home multiple subsequent winner Phoneme. He should simply win. AYASHA and HIGHFRIAR are both knocking on the door but look destined to fight out minor money. ALCINA has gone super since joining the stables of Josh Forder-Brown. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – BRAGWELL WIN RACE 4 IBIZA is a jump and run mare who should be perfectly suited to 1000m Barker racing. If Holly Watson can find the top she’ll take serious running down. Second to Alpha and Omega three starts ago, third in a fighting finish at 1100m two starts ago and most recently ran into sharp filly Strathmore Rose. Looks the best form and back 100m could be key. WIENER WALTZ was a super run last start after finding himself in an awkward position in running. If he stays out of trouble he can definitely get over them late. DYNAMITE BAY is flying and will enjoy a soft chasing run in behind them. SAX ON QUE turned back the clock last start in a much improved effort. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – IBIZA WIN RACE 5 KENDEL’S MEE DAD looks to have found a suitable race. His last three efforts have yielded placings in 70+ races and he now drops back into a 58+. Two time winner in this grade, proven weight carrier, drawn a gate and with the services of Chris Parnham he does tick a lot of boxes. FAIR JOY resumed in great order for a new yard. Has speed to burn and could well kick up underneath them to lead. BURNING MAGIC rates really well for this and her recent trial was very nice. APOLLO won well last start when given a peach by Turner. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – KENDEL’S MEE DAD WIN RACE 6 SIR SNUGALOT was beaten only three quarters of a length behind Potent Secret and Candlelight Star at Barker over 1300m two starts ago. The drop back to 1100m looks suitable, gets some weight relief after an uncharacteristic shocker last start and can work his way to the top or stalk the speedy Double Jeopardy. Worth forgiveness. REBEL YELL looked like making a nice country acquisition and definite found his old form last start. DOUBLE JEOPARDY is well placed into this 70+ with no weight. POTENT SECRET is going too well to ignore. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – SIR SNUGALOT WIN RACE 7 CLASSIC JACK hails from the highly in form Roy Rogers yard and he looks to have timed his way to the Cup to absolute perfection. Warmed up for this acid test with effortless and arrogant 62+ and 64+ victories. Gets in on the minimum, Chris Parnham travels down to ride and he has the tactical speed to sit over them from the draw. Does look to be peaking at the right time. DEEL RED is no slouch and comes out of a stronger race (Esperance Cup) when finishing fourth behind Misty Lad, Touch of Silver and Push to Pass. CORPORATE LARRIKIN will come out running and fought on bravely last start in a fast run staying event. BARRY’S RABBIT was a big run in the Esperance Cup and reunites with old mate Jason Whiting. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – CLASSIC JACK WIN RACE 8 CHOOSE TO CRUISE steps out in trip again after running fourth behind stablemates Kazkazi and Feels Hot, before running third to Classic Rogue and Feels Hot at his most recent. Should hold a position in running from the draw and give this evenly graded affair a shake. ART ADMIRER is going well and finished off nicely this track and distance last start. SCHOOLWORK is capable of bobbing up from time to time. AL CAPITANO a mad one for novelty inclusion. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – CHOOSE TO CRUISE WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,3,4 1,2,3,4,5,8 1,2,3,5,6 2,3 Market Market
