Scott Embry’s Thursday Bunbury Preview Posted on February 10, 2021February 10, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BRAVE BATTLE steps out in trip and that should be enough to see him return a winner. In typical Cerise and White fashion, he has improved at each start and improved at every step out. Looks like he will be the first of a few odds on pops. ACE PLACE looks suited out in trip and every time you watch a replay his best furlong is his last. ELLEVISTA is a long time maiden but might even take it up from the inside. RUN LIKE FIRE up straight to the staying trip, showed a bit when last in work. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – BRAVE BATTLE WIN RACE 2 AXEL R EIGHT is always hard to run down when finding the top. Third-up into the preparation, Mitchell Pateman sticks and he should waltz to the top. Provided he isn’t taken on by Twentythree Red then he should control proceedings and give backers a great sight. Looks ready. THE ROAN RANGER took his maiden win straight into a 66+ where he raced outside the handicap and ran out of his skin. Paul Roberts has him flying. NIGHT SESSION has been a revelation since getting out to the staying trip and uniting with Paul Harvey. TWENTYTHREE RED has always shown ability but does so much wrong. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – AXEL R EIGHT WIN RACE 3 ELAFELLA lead last start on a day when you wanted to be three and four horses off the fence. Steps straight up in trip to a mile, drawn to lead and dictate terms again and with Paul Harvey aboard you know he’ll be able to rack and stack them mid-race. Gives him every chance and anyone who follows rail positions will be following up on this bloke. VITAL TIMES is racing particularly well and sustained a run last start. Drawn to do no work. POWERFUL FORCE had blinkers added to gear last start and they definitely helped. Career best run but continually overvalued in the market. BONJOUR NOIR showed glimpses in his first campaign. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – ELAFELLA WIN RACE 4 FREEDOM OF THE PRESS was impressive on debut late down the 1000m straight at Pinjarra and then was sent forward on a day when you wanted to be back in the field at his second career outing. Worth forgiving and following up. MISS VOODOO never got into the race last start. Her previous effort was sound in a high rating maiden. PYRO is a long time maiden but on the fresh side could surprise a few. JOLLY ODD is knocking on the door. Numbers: 4 – 11 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – FREEDOM OF THE PRESS WIN RACE 5 IRON SHARP gives Holly Watson a wonderful opportunity to open her account with new boss Simon Miller. Far better suited here than first-up behind Kissonallforcheeks, Vane Tempest, In The Boat and other genuine Saturday types. Only beaten 4.4L, comes back to maiden company and even drops weight after her claim. TAKEMEHOMETONIGHT ran into Western Empire on debut. Was specked in the market and did run well. REAL CHARISMA was stopped in her tracks on debut and the run was much better than the 4L beaten margin. AGENT KENSIGNTON has promised to win a maiden since her debut. Goes close (again). Numbers: 3 – 9 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – IRON SHARP WIN RACE 6 PURE DEVOTION was a really nice effort on debut when going under. Got back and attacked the line. Kept fresh here, 45 days between runs and provided she gets an ounce of luck tracking up three back the fence she’ll flash at them late. LINCOLN’S LAW ran into Spritely Star last start and that could look like super form if that filly salutes at Ascot on Wednesday. Always shown ability. MAIN ENGINE is drawn horribly but all of her outings to date have been excellent in defeat. Eye catching filly worth following. COLOUR ME QUICK ran well at her first-up assignment. Numbers: 10 – 2 – 8 – 11 Suggested Bet – PURE DEVOTION WIN RACE 7 ANTIQUE JEWEL gets her fourth chance in maiden company. Stuck interference on debut but was still only moderate in the run to the post, disappointing at her second start given the run she got leader’s back and then hit a flat spot last start before charging to the line in a genuinely run 1400m maiden. Blinkers on first time, drawn a gate and Pike sticks. OCEANZARA gets another chance. What she needs in her races is a bit of speed and give the capacity line-up she should get more suitable conditions. RED HOT HOPE will get back but absolutely savaged the line in two runs last preparation. GENERAL GRANT looks a one batter but kept coming at trials. Numbers: 14 – 10 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – ANTIQUE JEWEL WIN RACE 8 TAMBORA drops out of a 3 year old plate back into an all age C1. Rarely would you say that Pike off and Pateman on is a positive, but on a leader that’s definitely the case. Looks the ideal Mitch Pateman horse, control the tempo, gain a breather and then roll through his gears sooner rather than later. CALAG has only won the one race but has always shown a bit and the recent trials were quite alright. PRIZED MISS won well on debut and then got really lost last start and looked all at sea. TABELLA like all of Arthur Mortimer’s has X-Factor. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – TAMBORA WIN RACE 9 TESTING LOVE improved at every start when last in work and ran into some handy 3 year olds along the way in No Surrender and Sheza Chalmer. Most of the Cerise and White 3 year olds improve sharply after their customary 56-80 day freshen between campaigns and she does look capable of going through the grades. CASTILLO DEL LAGO was an excellent return to racing and now with the luxurious claim of Laqdar Ramoly looks like taking beating. Will charge across from a wide gate but looks capable of sitting outside likely leader Broadway Girl, or ideally crossing to the paint. Can give the favourite something to catch. FIERY BAY is going career best and ran extremely well in a C3 last start. HOLYOAKE has put in some super runs in a short career. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 4 – 12 Suggested Bet – TESTING LOVE WIN RACE 10 NO APOLOGY is superbly placed by the highly in form SJ Miller yard. Resumed in a 1200m when chasing hard into third, since has raced in back to back 66+ races, most recently when finishing third to Zetorio and Cousin Ivan. Drops in grade and finds a race without any natural speed. Carleen Hefel loves finding the front and if he crosses he’s clearly the one to beat. CALL AGAIN is going well and likely ends up leader’s back in a sit sprint. KIA ORA STAR may well follow No Apology across from out wide. Well placed back into this grade. PORPHYRIO is going well. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – NO APOLOGY WIN RACE 11 RAPIDORA is on debut in WA and has some super form for a race like this. Put simply, only two of her 18 starts have returned ratings which are below the necessary level to win this race. She finished 5L behind Valour Road, Tofane and Gytrash in a Group 2 in 2019. Her last four fresh runs have produced 1 win, 2 minors and a luckless midfield finish. No trial, Paul Harvey on, looks a very interesting betting proposition. STABLE SECRET won well over the Batavia Sprint winner My Demi two starts ago. BLAZING TYCOON went well at his WA debut. TRANSGRESSOR is going super and is capable of carrying the weight. ANGELIQUES FAME is honest and consistent but the gate will require one of Chris Parnham’s best. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – RAPIDORA WIN Quaddie (Race 8 – 11) 2 1,9 1,2,3,4 1,2,3,4,5,8 Market Market
