Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on July 9, 2020July 13, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ALL DAY SESSION was strongly supported last start and landed the money. That race was sectionally extremely impressive and from gate 1 there is no reason why he can’t reproduce. Looks like they will really run along and he shouldn’t do any work from the draw. MINDARIE is a speedster and with blinkers added expecting they’ll ride her like her debut when allowed to roll along in front. CLAIRVOYANCE is clearly the pick of the trialling brigade but strikes a better than average debut race. BORN TO RULE is a chance of being caught deep in a race with a lot of tempo. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 10 – 4 Suggested Bet – ALL DAY SESSION EACHWAY RACE 2 PUCKAPUNYAL was excellent when ridden cold first-up and making her run down the centre of the track against the pattern. Was even better second-up when going past Levitate and looming the winner before falling victim to the infamous ‘Belmont Trench’ when mis-striding at the 150m. To come again on the line and make a dive at Bright Diamond showed that she is well above average. Can stalk Captain Kink from the draw and should go close. CAPTAIN KINK was a booming all the way winner two start ago and should find the front with ease here. SECRET STATUE won from a near impossible position on debut but the leader was stopping and there has to be a query on the strength of that form and overall time. Will have eye and times punters divided. SILKINIZE is better suited at 1200m chasing. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – PUCKAPUNYAL WIN RACE 3 ABERDEEN QUEEN is a very progressive mare who looks on paper like scoring her fifth win at start number 7. Her form is simply superior to rivals and if she had drawn a gate would be deep in the red. Beat Levitate three starts ago before running fifth to Indian Pacific, Levitate, Resortman and Marocchino. Last start dropped back to C3 grade and put on an exhibition gallop. Only query is having to patiently wait three deep with cover behind a slow tempo but she should simply out gun moderate rivals. GIFTED WARRIOR draws a gate and while he was plain last start his prior efforts suggested he was rapidly closing in on a win. STELLA ANNE could well get things cheap out in front. BOMBAY STYLE likely rolls forward to be put into the race. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 14 – 2 Suggested Bet – ABERDEEN QUEEN WIN RACE 4 MATERIAL MAN is simply gifted this race at set weights and penalties conditions. He drops in weight coming out of winning at Weight for Age and as a m109 rater in a ‘fair’ handicap would concede 12kg to main rival on paper, stablemate Noir De Rue. Should sit back and stroll past them at the weights. NOIR DE RUE is only a m85 and was completely unsuited by the WFA scale last start. He ran out of his skin and is in career best form. Rolls to the top and makes his own luck. MIZLECKI and TAXAGANO are both coming out of the Winter Features and both are capable of filling holes behind Justin Warwick’s pair. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – MATERIAL MAN WIN RACE 5 WINDSTORM will be all the rage. This is his toughest test to date on paper and is drawn a little sticky in gate 1 so those who are launching into the shorts and anchoring a plethora of multi’s through him may have hearts in mouths at some stage in the straight but from what we have seen he should be able to get himself out of trouble and pick up another ratings race on his way to the top of WA racing. MASSIMO is much maligned by punters as he continues to go under at short quotes but it is hard to fault the way he is going. CRYPTIC LOVE was incredible last start, pinging off the back of only a moderate tempo. She has blistering point to point speed and can always be the blow out in races. MULTIVERSE is honest and consistent and runs well every time at Belmont. Numbers: 10 – 7 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – WINDSTORM WIN RACE 6 INSPIRATIONAL GIRL arguably should be undefeated so far. She got rolled first-up last preparation in what was not the ideal start when a late scratching on race day and then over a month between trials and first-up appearance. Struck a heavily leader bias Ascot track and did a huge job to flash late. Won her next two impressively and while her trials were only fair she gets a gate and speed map to suit. FLOWER OF SCOTLAND has been a brilliant find this winter in the provincial and midweeks. Is being allowed to run her own race and it is clearly paying dividends. In form, race fit and impossible to fault. ABBY LANE doesn’t get the wet track that he likes but was super fresh. TURBO POWER ran well in higher grade last start and should get a soft run. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 11 – 14 Suggested Bet – INSPIRATIONAL GIRL WIN RACE 7 ROMAN FLIRT was excellent in defeat last start. William Pike rode her to four consecutive victories going through the grades in style before he jumped ship and Chris Parnham was dealt a horror gate in a race with a stack of tempo. William Pike jumps back on and there is next to no speed here. Expecting he will roll forward and if she finds a position she should be too strong. UNCLE LINO is the only speed horse in the race. Kept fresh and gets every opportunity out in front. SENTIMENTAL GIFT is a mare who will go through the grades. Many punters (myself a like) will be waiting for Pike to jump on but no reason she couldn’t cause the mini boilover here. RIVALRY GALORE needs it all to go his way. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – ROMAN FLIRT WIN RACE 8 SAMIZDAT looks exceptionally well placed in this Listed Sprint. Obviously he is only going to get better as they step out in distance but hard to see him not running a mighty race here. They will fly behind Mervyn and there is every chance he tracks Essential Spice in the run. In their 3 year old days he beat her with 5.5kg and 7kg more, fair and square. He is super talented and Chris Gangemi is a genius getting horses home first-up no trial. MISTY METAL returns and is the best credentialed sprinter in the field. She’ll stalk Mervyn and look the winner turning for home. ESSENTIAL SPICE lost no admirers first-up and had to lump 58kg which is a lot for her. Gets every opportunity from the gate. FLOW beat her on her merits last start and meets her at level weights. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – SAMIZDAT WIN RACE 9 LEVITATE is a quality late season 3 year old taking on older horses in a 60+ graduation. That style of placement has been a recipe for cash for the last 3 months and he looks the one to beat. Anticipating that we may see a change in tactics announced and expecting him to be ridden midfield with cover with Paul Harvey going on. If he gets any luck he should be very hard to hold out with his Indian Pacific, Bright Diamond, Puckapunyal and Aberdeen Queen form. DEVOTED STAR could find herself three or even four back the fence in traffic. Undeniably talented mare who has had issues but starting to fulfil her potential. PLAYING MARIKA can let down powerfully on her day. SEMINOLE BRAVE has been a bit of a surprise packet. Gets it soft and is going particularly well. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – LEVITATE WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,6,8,11,12,14 1,4,5 2,3,6,8 4,6 Market Market
