Scott Embry’s Friday Ascot Preview Posted on April 8, 2020April 11, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 RIVER BEAU almost got the money two starts ago in a very similar race to this behind Semigel and then last weekend charged to the line behind Cliffs of Comfort. That galloper is undefeated after 3 and holds the prized scalp of Laverrod. That is super form for a race like this. Off the 6 day back up he looks the winner. PLATINUM BULLET is a nice filly resuming off the back of an impressive trial. Ridden cold in the trial but can race on the speed. AT WAR was no match for River Beau when they last met. Gear change and drawn a nice gate. RUBIC ROSE can improve with a senior rider on. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – RIVER BEAU WIN RACE 2 MISS MARGAUX has only had two career starts and has run into classy pair Karijini Aurora (winner of 2 from 3) and Last of the Line (winner of 2 from 2). That is pretty hot race form for a maiden and she should slide across to again breeze. OUTLAW KING comes from the same race and was a great run. From the gate should get a nice run midfield and if reproducing the effort will be right in the finish. GINGER FLYER was the target of big money when resuming and almost landed the plunge. Leads and takes running down. RHYTHM STAR comes from a fast run 3 year old race and drops back into maiden company. Numbers: 9 – 2 – 10 – 8 Suggested Bet – MISS MARGAUX WIN RACE 3 SOWAR was a beaten favourite last start in a C2 race at Albany but the horse who beat him home, Trade Storm, looks to have a fair bit of ability. That race was run almost 4L faster than average and this is not a deep race. Blinkers go back on, draws a gate to hold a position and should be able to get over them. MERCY PREVAILS went back last weekend from a wide gate but should muster through to lead and get it quite cheaply in front. PASARAN won well last time out but looks likely being caught deep from the gate. RUBY JEAN was super scoring at Geraldton when only getting out in the last 50m. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – SOWAR WIN RACE 4 SKY FIVE reunites with Jade McNaught and draws a gate. Two starts ago Jade rode her to victory from the exact same draw in a 1600m maiden when safely holding subsequent winner Diamond Trade. Last time out drew awkwardly and did it fairly tough. Miss Dominican went on to run third in the Oaks and Trade Storm beat Sowar in Albany. The form is holding up and she’ll enjoy a much better run here. QUINTARO was arguably a better run than Sky Five in the same race and now has William Pike. Hard to beat. REXFORD should lead and walk them. ONCE WERE LOST won his maiden well but looks like tramping 3 deep the trip with 60kg. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – SKY FIVE WIN RACE 5 POINT TAKEN has been big in two runs back this preparation. Caught the eye first-up when hitting the line hard from off the speed and then last week sat fairly deep the trip but kept coming when third behind Eristic and Dani Bella. This is a wide open race and if she can get across from the awkward draw is right in the mix. WAKAN TANKA drops back to a C1 after contesting harder races his last four. MELROS BEACH jumps and runs and will again take running down. BLOCK OF LAND was backed off the map first-up but never gave a yelp. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – POINT TAKEN EACHWAY RACE 6 FLIRTINI vs ANGELIC RULER looks a match race on paper. At set weights and penalties conditions they are so well placed into this Listed Fillies Feature. ANGELIC RULER returns to WA after a pair of Eastern States campaigns. Amazingly never won a race over there but notched up six Group placings and from the gate she should settle midfield tracking a hot speed. FLIRTINI returns to the races after a huge summer carnival which saw her win a Prince of Wales and Colonel Reeves Stakes before running an enormous fifth in the Winterbottom Stakes when clocking far and away the best closing sections in the race. She is drawn to do it tough here but is very classy. FLOWER OF WAR is in a purple patch of form. LIPSTICK FLICKERS should find the top. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – ANGELIC RULER WIN RACE 7 UNENDING is now 10th up into the preparation and this is one of the weakest assignments she has seen. The draw will see her settle toward the tail but in a race without a deal of speed there could be a midrace move which brings her into the race. ALTAMONT is a very hard horse to catch but he has caught the eye at this last two runs. This is a winnable assignment for him. HOODLUM THUNDER should be given every chance in front by Pateman. BLAISZEN CAZAH put in a poor run last start but previous form strong and Lucy Warwick goes on. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – UNENDING EACHWAY RACE 8 DIAMONDS FOR ALL took 27 starts to break his maiden but his last 9 outings have produced three wins. Last start was arguably career best when dominating from the front. He ran solid time and simply ran them into the ground. This is a step up but Chloe Azzopardi is very adept on leaders. VITAL BLAST should stalk the speed and be given every chance from gate 1. MEKONG DEN is going well and is a one paced type who will grind it out on speed. RACY AVA didn’t fire first-up but the race wasn’t run to suit. Her trial was impressive. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 13 – 9 Suggested Bet – DIAMONDS FOR ALL EACHWAY Race 9 WAR SECRETS went through the grades quickly and impressively in Kalgoorlie last season and resumes first-up no trial, a formula which has paid dividends recently for team Fernie. Mervyn and Regal Counsel both won first-up no trial and Pym’s Royale was enormous first-up no trial. From the gate Mitch Pateman should have him midfield with cover chasing a strong tempo. TRUMP THIS arguably could have won 3 or 4 races in WA with even racing luck since arriving from the East. If they’re making ground he is right in this. STAR GLITTER has been teasing punters this preparation, going well enough. ICE TRADE was the beneficiary of a C.Parnham special last start. Will need another gun ride. Numbers: 8 – 10 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – WAR SECRETS EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,3 6,7,8,10 2,3,5,6,7,9,13 1,2,6,8,9,10 Market Market RELATED: Scott Embry’s Friday Kalgoorlie Preview
