Scott Embry’s Friday Albany Preview Posted on February 27, 2020July 24, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 DON’T OVERTAKE makes her debut as a 4 year old mare. Recent trial was fair at Belmont Park and Brad Parnham makes a rare non-feature race day appearance in the Great Southern. Would have had the choice of rides for Dion Luciani and we’ll back him in. DARK CITY has been disappointing since showing glimpses of ability at trials. ON ZE RUN ran alright fresh but a bit plain second-up. UNIVERSAL STAR was only run down late at her first start for Paul Hunter. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – DON’T OVERTAKE WIN Race 2 TRUTIARA stepped to 1500m last start and looked home for all money until paddling the last 100m. Dropping back to 1300m here if she reproduces that run she should be too quick. CLASSIC ROGUE was well thought of on debut and raced very greenly. Missed the kick and then looked like he didn’t really want to go through gaps in the home straight when they seemingly appeared. Second race start can go closer. PHANDIERI was not bad earlier in the preparation and shades go on for an easier assignment. MISS PINS is never far from the winner. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – TRUTIARA WIN Race 3 CLEO’S AFTERPARTY has put the writing on the wall at the last few runs and this is a lesser field than she has recently met. From the gate Kirby should have her midfield with cover and she’ll take holding out. TAKE ME HOME HONEY is still a maiden after 13 starts and due to a string of placings gets 59.5kg in a 47+ (which is more than she would get in a maiden) but is getting very close to breaking through. LOSING TICKET draws to box seat for Kristy Bennett who is starting to ride a lot of winners. AMBER HIGHWAY won well last start. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – CLEO’S AFTERPARTY WIN Race 4 MR PAGO is a wonderful bread and butter horse. Seems to win one or two races every season and is competitive from 1200 to 2000. Outside stablemate War Ksar was the best run of the locals in the Albany Cup and this is a great race for him. GLEN ALBYN will probably be ignored by the market but is racing very well and lumped big weight to win the Kojonup Cup. Leads and controls. VITAL BOOM was super impressive in the two previous starts. MASS EFFECT always a winning chance. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – MR PAGO WIN Race 5 LITTLE PUNGA looks to have found his race. Has been competitive all preparation in races with more depth than this. Last start ran 5th in a 70+ behind Tranquilla Sunrise and three starts ago was beaten a nose in this grade. Comes out running and is hard to beat. LONG KNIFE BROTHER can mix his form but draws a gate. COLD AS COLD was a shade disappointing for his ability last start. MONGOLIAN WARLORD looks to be getting closer. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – LITTLE PUNGA WIN Race 6 CARESS YOUR SOUL was brave last start when fighting off the challenges. Likely to come across and sit outside the speedy Ibiza and they can control the race between them. IBIZA back to 1000 is always hard to run down, especially when finding the fence. CITY RANSOM comes from Esperance but has been racing well. CALBANESCO mixes form but with blinkers back on keep safe. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – CARESS YOUR SOUL WIN Race 7 LADY STINGRAY might just sneak under the radar here. Last start drew gate 12 of 12 and flew across over 1200 in a 70+ to sit outside of Tranquilla Sunrise. No disgrace to be burnt off and back to 58+ company, back to 1100m she could be very hard to run down. SAX ON QUE is super consistent and with All The Julz breaking her maiden on Sunday the form looks even stronger beaten a nose by King of Chaos. LIGHT THE FUSE has been running far better races than it reads on paper recently WILLOW RIVER next best. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – LADY STINGRAY WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3,6 2 2,4 1,2,4 Market Market
