Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on November 28, 2019December 2, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 COCKNEY CREW is 6 weeks between runs owing to a few niggling issues. He was scratched from the Railway last weekend and now drops back to 1500. There will be plenty of knockers and it is a big unknown but if he reproduces any of his three ratings from this campaign he’ll take a stack of running down. WESTERN TEMPLE should be smothered up midfield with cover and looks suited here. ABDICATOR maps to settle one out and one back in a high-pressure race. HEART STARTER has hit form and is going well. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – COCKNEY CREW WIN Race 2 DOWNFORCE settled three back the fence and was a strong 1000m winner last weekend. 7 days later he maps to sit three back the fence in another fast run 1000. Neville Parnham’s stable is flying and his horses have been winning off the back-up like clockwork. ELITE STREET has been impressive at trials and was not knocked around at all on Monday. LEVITATE won well at Bunbury after being a good thing beat on debut. SWEETASSA will ensure they burn early with only 51kg drawn an inside marble. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – DOWNFORCE WIN Race 3 FIRE AND RAIN could not have been more impressive at the Belmont trials when floating around in 58.91. Had his late 3 year old season crippled by injury and has had knee surgery since. He only knows one way and if he can cross one of Beat The Devil or The Nicconian and find the breeze he’ll take beating. REBEL KNIGHT was good first-up at 1000. Interesting to see him stay at the trip but from the draw he should get a lovely tow into the race. EXCISE FREE is going from strength to strength and never runs a bad race. THE NICCONIAN should lead or box seat and give his usual honest sight. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – FIRE AND RAIN EACHWAY Race 4 SON OF BACCHUS and SOPHIE’S SONG have both had three runs this preparation and have both been in the exact same races. At their most recent they both sat on top of a very hot speed and battled on strongly into third and second respectively. SON OF BACCHUS from the gate should naturally land one out and one back. From there he gets every opportunity to score an overdue win. SOPHIE’S SONG likely comes out running with Demi Go Round to cross those inside of her and find the fence. She’s ready to win. ROYAL COMMAND is extremely well placed here. A three time 72+ winner in a 66+. Very hard to knock him. PUSH TO PASS maps to get a soft run midfield and was a good run in the York Cup and holds form once he finds it. Numbers: 9 – 7 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – SON OF BACCHUS EACHWAY Race 5 FORCEFUL looked home everywhere but the post last start when nailed by a brave and tough Taxagano. Steps out to 2100 for the first time and the trip is undoubtedly a query but from the gate he’ll be afforded every favour in running. TAXAGANO simply loves being out deep doing it on his own. Question is can he do it over 2100 with 59? MISSILE LAUNCH is proving himself a handy stayer. Should find the breeze again or cover in the first four and is consistent as they come. FRIAR FOX was doing her best work late in the Ascot Gold Cup. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – FORCEFUL WIN Race 6 LACEVINSKY gets around 1350 of a 1400. He has a short sharp sprint on him and he was only collared late by Not To Be Mist last time out. He leads again and should have an Easterly breeze blowing at his back. If he can be saved until they balance he’ll take running down. SIR MAMBO is in career best form. Arguably a good thing beat last start in a 72+. He can carry weight and McNaught will be looking for the breeze. DICKOLETTO should enjoy an identical run to last start. He is a quirky and awkward animal. No doubt Chris Graham gained a lot of experience aboard him last start. NOT TO BE MIST is an exciting proposition. The gate makes things interesting. He’ll need to be ridden for luck or come very deep. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – LACEVINKSY EACHWAY Race 7 M’LADY has 61.5 but it is hard to ignore the way she’s been winning at Geraldton. She has been running serious time in front and if she can cross Concrete Madame in the first 400 then she’ll take running down. CONCRETE MADAME has the barrier advantage and 5kg on her side. She can either hold M’Lady out or take a wonderful sit. MR GENOA is firing on all cylinders at the minute, undefeated in the care of LK Fernie. Deserving favourite. MASTER SPLINTER ran well last start and Kyra Yuill is in incredible form. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – M’LADY EACHWAY Race 8 TREKKING has the runs on the board and looks awfully hard to beat. Winner of the G2 Schillaci, third in an Everest and second in the Redzel Stakes to Pierata. From the draw likely settles one out and four back, midfield with cover and in a fast run 1200 he’ll be charging if the gaps appear. FLIRTINI has gone to a new level since they’ve ridden her quiet early. Her turn of foot in the Colonel Reeves was simply breathtaking. HEY DOC should come across to sit outside of Misty Metal. His return to the races was brave in the Kevin Heffernan at Sandown. VIRIDINE was given a soft kill last start. Not disgraced in the Schillaci behind Trekking. Numbers: 1 – 13 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – TREKKING WIN Winterbottom Stakes Runner by Runner Preview Race 9 MEGAZONE is as consistent as they come. Booming winner three starts ago and at his most recent was held up into the corner before going down a head to Royal Command in a 72+. Drops into a 60+, Paul Harvey into the saddle and should find cover midfield. Looks right in this. HEART OF COEUR maps to get a lovely run just behind the leaders and he belted rivals last start. Loves the 1200 at Ascot and should get every chance. MISSING PRO takes care of the speed and dug deep at her most recent. KING’S AUTHORITY has raced without luck since arriving in WA. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 11 – 6 Suggested Bet – MEGAZONE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,2,3,7,8,10 1.2.8 1,3,7,10,12,13 1,4 Market Market
