Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on February 14, 2019February 16, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 AMELIA’S ON FIRE will be all the rage and has tongues well and truly wagging after an emphatic 10L trial win. Trials and races are a different ball game but she looks awfully hard to beat. WICKLOW PRINCESS was almost knocked down on debut. If she takes no ill effect from that run can bounce back. AMARILLO ROSE only just held on first-up, improvement expected. IZZ MAY trialed well for her debut. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – AMELIA’S ON FIRE WIN Race 2 FAMILY DISCUSSION finally draws a gate and if he can reproduce either of his last two runs then if he gets clear running at the top of the straight looks like breaking through. GEOGRAPHE BAY was uncharacteristically slow away first-up and can improve sharply. WILD GUST is in career best form and deserves to break through. GOOD FORTUNE has put together two good runs so far this campaign. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – FAMILY DISCUSSION WIN Race 3 MACROY was a query up sharply in grade last time out and drifted accordingly but she was super impressive sprinting past some reasonably talented Graduation types. Looks hard to beat again. SPEEDING COMET can not draw a gate and looks destined to march at least 3 deep the trip again. SANTIAGO GAL can improve sharply second-up drawing a gate. FAERIE WHISPER will be out the back waiting for the final crack at them. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – MACROY WIN Race 4 FIRST AMONG EQUALS was a funny run fresh in WA but when reunited with Glenn Smith and allowed to get to the outside he really let down well late and was unlucky to be nosed out on the line. This race looks to map well for him. GEE BOSS should park just behind the speed and if he can get in from a tricky alley will be a danger. CELEBRITY DREAM fresh and back to the sprint trip can never be discounted. WRINKLY only knows one way. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – FIRST AMONG EQUALS WIN Race 5 HARRY THOMAS has been beaten a neck and half head at his last two starts. He draws to sit midfield with cover and looks the safest way to play in a wide open race. ROSE’S SHADOW could open up a huge price and maps to either lead or sit in the box seat. Held up at crucial stages fresh and form last campaign was good enough. FAIR SONARI was ridden cold last start and never got warm. If he sits in the breeze he goes close. PEPPIJACK is building into the preparation and will sit right over the speed. Numbers: 5 – 12 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – HARRY THOMAS EACHWAY Race 6 COMING AROUND was huge on debut and then a fairly soft winner at his next two starts. There is a big query over where he gets to in the race from that awkward gate but looks talented. CREATIVE HERO will be short after winning three deep the trip no cover last start. That was a midweeker with the rail out and a ridiculously slow tempo. LIGHT MY DAY should get it soft in front. DAISHIO has only 53kg and should position up right behind him. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 5 – 11 Suggested Bet – COMING AROUND WIN Race 7 NEUROLOGICAL is very hard to tip past. There are obvious queries about how good the opposition is that he has beaten at his last two in country feature sprints but the way he has been winning is electric. Should get into another perfect spot and zap them. TELLEM WE’RE COMIN has been trialing the house down without blinkers. 60kg from last is a big task. ALPHA SKY should find the front and control again after a strong win last weekend. RED PUBLISHER is never far from the action and always a price. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – NEUROLOGICAL WIN Race 8 CRYSTAL VALLEY is always going to be a risky proposition. Her racing pattern is to drop out early and then come charging over the final furlong. She is in great form and flying but will be back and in traffic. AVIDUS should have no traffic issues and bolted in last start when left alone. MEDIA BARON was eye catching first-up and then never got clear at any stage second-up. Senior goes on and he can definitely win. BEAUCOUNT is just about ready to run a race and even roll forward if he jumps. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – CRYSTAL VALLEY WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,3,5,8,11,12 1,2,3,4,5,7,10,11 4 1,3,5 Market Market
