Wayne’s Preview – Scorchers v Strikers Posted on January 24, 2018June 7, 2018 | Posted by Wayne Clark Even though both sides have secured a home semi-final, there is still plenty at stake on the result. The winner will finish top and be assured of hosting the final if successful – a great advantage to any team. The Scorchers will be bolstered by the imminent return of Shaun Marsh from injury and Jye Richardson who has been released from the ODI squad. Marsh will probably join Klinger at the top of the order and compliment the already well-performed line-up of Turner (250 runs), Cartwright (243), Bancroft (144) and Agar (171). If there has been any area needing improvement with the Scorchers, it has been the first 6-over power play, hopefully Marsh can help with a positive start. The Strikers attack has been superb this year with both Laughlin (14 wickets) and Khan (14) sitting 3rd in the leading wicket-taker list. Add Neser (11), Stanlake (10), Siddle (9) and it will really test the Scorchers line-up. The batting for the Strikers has been terrific. Carey (400 runs) and Weatherald (155) have given the side positive starts and Ingram showed us last game what a devastating batsman he can be. Again Adam Voges will be hoping Johnson and Paris can get early wickets to apply pressure. These two sides deserve to be fighting for top spot and it will be a seesawing match throughout. Home ground, home crowd and the last BBL game at the WACA should advantage the Scorchers.
