Sully’s NRL Preview – Finals Week 1 Posted on September 8, 2017 | Posted by James Sullivan Well after 26 rounds of intriguing Rugby League Finals Footy is here and what a month we have in front of us! It kicks off tonight with a mouth-watering clash where the Roosters play host to the Broncos in Preliminary Final 1. The winners are likely to firm into second favouritism for the title and it may well be that the Broncos little men can get them there. The Storm and Eels clash in Preliminary Final 2 on Saturday afternoon. The Eels are on a roll – they have won 9 of their last 10 games and have been successful on their last 2 trips to AAMI Stadium. Waiting for them are a Storm side that have match winners across the field and they will also be celebrating Captain Cameron Smith’s 356 Game Breaking Record. It should be a classic encounter! The Sea Eagles and Panthers clash in the next of the finals. The Sea Eagles have regathered momentum over the last fortnight while in contrast the Panthers have dropped their last two matches leading into this do-or-die clash. Sunday afternoon sees the 2016 Premiers up against the 2015 Premiers when the Sharks & Cowboys clash. There are no second chances for the loser in this Elimination Final. The Sharks have looked like a team waiting for Finals Footy to start over the last month and the Cowboys have struggled over the same period getting a late reprieve into Finals Footy after the Bulldogs knocked off the Dragons.
