Sully’s State Of Origin Game 2 Preview Posted on June 20, 2017 | Posted by James Sullivan Origin 2 is here and after a pulsating encounter in game one, these two great rivals head to ANZ Stadium on Wednesday Night. Can Queensland lock the series up after New South Wales had their biggest ever win 28-4 at the Maroons home fortress, Suncorp Stadium? New South Wales for the first time since game 2 1996 bring an unchanged squad into this game hoping to secure the Shield for just the second time in 12 years, whereas their opponents have made an uncharacteristic 7 changes. Queensland welcome in the experienced trio of Thurston, Slater & Cooper whilst naming 4 debutants in Holmes, Wallace, Hess and Glasby in an attempt to stop the Blues big men, in particular Fifita and Klemmer who were dominant in game one. It’s a Maroon’s squad that on paper looks a much greater threat to the Blues than the one offered by an ageing pack and less dynamic backline in game one and there are whispers around that it is the squad Coach Kevin Walters wanted all along. The Blues dominated the ruck in game one and Coach Laurie Daley’s rotation of his bench will again be crucial to his sides victory. Game 2 is traditionally the best in Origin Football. New South Wales in this case, can either win the series or Queensland can keep the series alive. It is intense, it’s savage, it can be bloody delightful and it can heart breaking! I’ll take New South Wales to get home in a tight one.
