Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on March 7, 2024March 7, 2024 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 SHOWPONY (2) had been racing without luck before facing the breeze and running a strong 3rd to Otis here last week. He is perfectly drawn tonight and is clearly the one to beat. SUGAR STREET (10) will appreciate the drop in class but is awkwardly drawn and will be giving his main rival a head start. NAME IN LIGHTS (1) is drawn to get a soft run on the pegs and looks a good place chance. BEE JAYS BOY (3) ran 2nd in 1.53.9 here last week and can be in the money again. Tips: 2 10 1 3 Suggested Bet: SHOWPONY (2) to win. Race 2 SOLESSEO MATUCA (1) led when a close-up 3rd in 1.54.5 here three starts back and appeals as the one to beat from the pole. THE MIKI TAKER (10) was a strong winner in quick time here last week but this draw does not suit his racing style. TIGER ROYAL (11) has been placed in ten of his past 11 starts and should be thereabouts again. SOHO SANTORINI (4) ran a nice 2nd to Otis here last week and won’t be far away. Tips: 1 10 11 4 Suggested Bet: TIGER ROYAL (11) each way. Race 3 FRANCO ECUADOR (1) resumed with two comfortable victories before chasing hard when 2nd to Pinny Tiger and is clearly the one to beat from the pole. ROLLING FIRE (2) faced the breeze when a strong 2nd to Hotly Pursued and looks the main danger from his nice draw. FLYING RUMOUR (3) has won three of his last four starts but looks more of a place chance here. EL CHEMA (6) is a capable sit-sprinter who will be charging home if there is a solid tempo. Tips: 1 2 3 6 Suggested Bet: FRANCO ECUADOR (1) to win. Race 4 SWINGBAND (6) hasn’t been able to get into the race from bad draws at his first two starts back from a spell but this looks a more suitable assignment and he should give a great sight on an each way basis. LAVRA JOE (7) was driven quietly at his return but is likely to be up on the pace at some stage here and is the class runner of the field. IMA FIVESTAR GENERAL (1) has the advantage or race fitness and the pole draw and will be prominent throughout. HAMPTON BANNER (4) will improve sharply if he can cross at the start. Tips: 6 7 1 4 Suggested Bet: SWINGBAND (6) each way. Race 5 CYCLONE CHARLOTTE (8) faced the breeze when 2nd to Regal Cheval here last week and has the class to overcome the wide draw. NULLABOR NAVAJO (1) led throughout from this draw four starts back and her recent form is strong enough to suggest she should prove hard to catch again. BEYOND THE SEA (6) won in 1.54.7 here two starts back and can challenge the favoured pair with the right run in transit. MIGHTHAVTIME (5) ran on well to win in quick time at her last start and should be charging home again. Tips: 8 1 6 5 Suggested Bet: CYCLONE CHARLOTTE (8) to win. Race 6 WASA HEAT SEEKER (3) has been placed in ten of his 12 starts since crossing the Tasman and should give a great sight here after drawing inside his main rivals. IRA POOLE (6) had a torrid run when finishing down the track at his last start but won his previously two impressively and should bounce back. POST GAME (4) hasn’t had much luck recently and is capable of winning this event with the right run. SOUND WAVE (1) was a solid 4th first-up and looks a good place chance from the pole. Tips: 3 6 4 1 Suggested Bet: WASA HEAT SEEKER (3) to win. Race 7 LUCCA (7) was slowly away but worked to the breeze when a strong 2nd here last week and can go one better tonight with a safe beginning. MISTER MONTBLANC (12) missed away when 5th in the same race but won his previous two starts and looks the main danger. CHEDDAR IS BETTER (1) is a reliable beginner who should be in the firing line throughout. BURGHLEY SHARD (2) was a good winner here on Tuesday and can be thereabouts again. Tips: 7 12 1 2 Suggested Bet: LUCCA (7) to win. Race 8 XCEPTIONAL ARMA (7) worked to the front but was no match when 3rd to Water Lou here last week but will find this easier and appeals as the one to beat. COPY CAT QUEEN (6) did things wrong in that event but must be considered on her previous win against a similar line-up. LENORA JANE (5) finished 6th behind COPY CAT QUEEN (6) at her last start but is a classy type who can figure. THE SWINDLER (1) started at big odds but beat most of these home when 2nd to Water Lou last week and can play a part from the pole. Tips: 7 6 5 1 Suggested Bet: XCEPTIONAL ARMA (7) to win. Race 9 HIGHVIEW HEIDI (3) was held up the Sales Classic here last week but looks a major player after her strong 2nd on debut after facing the breeze. JAXS IDEAL (2) finished at the rear in the Sales Classic but is drawn perfectly tonight and should be in the finish. SHOOBEES DOUBLE (7) has been plagued by bad draws but has plenty of ability and is one to follow. FLOAT MY BOAT (4) finished just behind the placegetters in the heat and final of the Sales Classic for the boys and looks likely to enjoy a nice run. Tips: 3 2 7 4 Suggested Bet: HIGHVIEW HEIDI (3) to win. Race 10 LUCAPELO (5) drops considerably in class on his latest assignments and appeals as the one to beat. DUTY BOUND (1) will strip fitter for his first-up 5th and looks the likely leader from the pole. SIDSTREPO (3) has finished 2nd at his past two starts and shouldn’t be far away. MADDY ROCKS (4) has been placed in six of her past seven starts and can be in the money again. Tips: 5 1 3 4 Suggested Bet: LUCAPELO (5) to win. Market Market
