Scott Embry’s Monday York Preview Posted on March 1, 2024March 7, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SOSO LUCKY won her first 950m trial and then was narrowly beaten by Forever Boy in her second 950m trial at Lark Hill. Forever Boy was annihilated in betting at Pinjarra last Sunday, sat three deep outside the speed and proved too good for Frappuchino making the trial form look excellent. Tash Faithfull is riding lots of winners and this filly looks to have ability. Great chance to break through on debut. LADY TREMAINE was beaten 6L last Sunday at Pinjarra yet still caught the eye late. Keep safe. TRIGGER FINGER has shown a liking for York previously. AIRTIGHT is enigmatic. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – SOSO LUCKY WIN RACE 2 SNIP OF GLAMOUR ran a fast finishing fourth behind Bondi Plunge at her return to racing off the back of a really nice trial victory. Troy Turner takes over from son Jordan and from the better barrier draw she doesn’t need to get as far back. Looks like she’s returned in much better order than when she went to the paddock. HEYFIELD BOOMER went down the straight on debut and wasn’t disgraced at 100-1, in fact, he well and truly out ran market expectation when beaten 3L by a horse who has already come out and won a C1 in Cessation. SECRET STYLE wants to jump and run by the looks. THE LYRICIST tried hard last start. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – SNIP OF GLAMOUR WIN RACE 3 REQUISITION was actually stiff not to finish close to the money in a Westspeed Platinum last start and now drops into a 52+ at York on a Monday. He’s had two starts at York and he’s finished runner up on both occasions. Proven weight carrier and strikes a small field without a lot of depth. He can sit back and zap these. CHAD’S ME DAD might be on a mission to run them into the ground which would make for interesting viewing. She’s quick and she seems to thrive when they allow her to stride. STORM LORD should be competitive back in this grade. Three starts back was a 52+ and he was narrowly defeated. TRUEVINSKY wants further but can sprint well fresh. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – REQUISITION WIN RACE 4 BIG CITIES is going better than numerical form suggests and going to go with a Brett Pope – Lucy Fiore race to race double in Races 3 & 4. Coming off two solid runs down the 1000m straight and is a really (really) well proven back-up horse. Off 8 days, back from a C3 into a 46+ and takes holding out late. Going along nicely and this is good placement. DEMITO has a set of shades on and while she would probably prefer 1000m this is still a nice chance for her to park on speed and keep kicking. FUEL THE FRIAR trialled nicely behind Janny and goes well fresh. WORK HOME FRONT went close last start in this grade. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – BIG CITIES WIN RACE 5 ZENIQUE ran third behind Sabbatical Silk in a 1600m maiden last Sunday at Pinjarra on the Scarpside and now 8 days later he’s likely to lead and roll in a 1500m maiden handicap. He’ll look to pinch this before they straighten and looking for him to run them into the ground. Fit and ready to win. MAZE MASTER tends to get back and tends to take some winding up. ZJP will need to keep him in touch with them. MOLLY MAGEE is now a 28 start maiden but she’s again caught the eye in replay behind Hero Hunter in a race that’s produced subsequent winner Simply. KNOCKONEBACK an improver with shades. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – ZENIQUE WIN RACE 6 VILLAGE GIRL tries her hardest and after the claim for Chanel Cooper she’s in with only 57kg in a 52+ after doing the majority of her recent racing in c58+ and C3s. 1500m may stretch her but at this level she’s the class runner. Her recent form alongside Exceltrain at Barker reads up well and four back she’s only 2.5L off Supportive. ROCKSTAR STATUS loomed into it at Geraldton last start but couldn’t quite go on with it. Ready for the distance rise. JOLLY LACE goes well at York and can cross to lead this. Keep safe. DELTA ANNE is going better than numerical form suggests. Just needs a split at some stage in the home straight. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – VILLAGE GIRL WIN RACE 7 THINKING GAME has form which holds up in a race like this. Finished off well behind Hoist The Colours last start and that galloper heads to the Esperance Cup on Sunday. Ran a fast finishing fourth behind Zackariah Beau three back (since won again and placed on a Saturday). Kept out of trouble he’ll be winding up hard. MONEY FOR OLD ROPE is a two-time winner at York, an important fact as a number of horses simply don’t handle the hustle and bustle of racing at the unique track. He’s dropping from a C5 back into a 46+ but he needs to carry 61.5kg and stay 1920m. BELLA EVE has been going well for a long time now. PASARAN an improver. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – THINKING GAME WIN RACE 8 SERVICEMAN drops sharply in grade from a 58 + to a 54+ and now to a lowly 46+, however, he also comes back down to 1300m. He’s got the ability to be winning and he’s started to show a bit more gate speed deeper into his preparation. Expecting him to be ridden aggressively to ensure he’s not shuffled too far back and he’s capable of being put into the race. Should be ready to win. JUST FOR MARCUS has run great races since returning to the grass. Second to Bleecker Street three back and then only 3L off Cheeky Charlotte/Sunbronzed/Lord Vampi reads up well. BELLE JOURNEE has been freshened and is more than capable. SECRET SHE KEEPS won well at Albany Thursday.
