Scott Embry’s Thursday Pinjarra Preview

Race 1

SIN CITY BOY was forced all the way back to last in a race where they stretched out of a bit of real estate in his most recent maiden. From there he had to try and sustain a big long run and all things considered he did a pretty good job to finish within 2.5L of the winner. If he can step cleanly and settle a pair or two closer and be weaving his way through traffic late then he looks capable of turning the tables on key rival HE’SNOTALLTHERE who beat him home last start in the same race. There’s really not much between them and it’ll come down to who gets the more economical passage. BY GOD HE IS is a 3 year old taking on the older horses and looks like a real one paced grinder. Right trip for him by the looks. SUPAROO continues to run to the line.

Numbers: 2 – 6 – 10 – 5

Suggested Bet – SIN CITY BOY WIN

Race 2

ROCKTEX finished really strongly late behind Lake Baikal and Clear Assault at Northam on what turned into a real on fence / inside pad type program. Loved the effort and gave the indication that an extra furlong would only suit him more. Draws to get a softer run (think he’s 1×2) in transit and the Trevor Andrews yard has been in form for months. CASSANDRA has trialled up encouragingly this preparation at Lark Hill. In the first trial she finished in behind Cartier Glow and Playing Solo (races on Wednesday as favourite in a maiden at Belmont) and then in the second trial finished 6L off them but wasn’t tested. Doesn’t look a natural jump run type so 1300 is a good starting point for her. SLATERS LEGACY trialled well covering ground and then was very green on debut. AURA MAGNA finds this easier.

Numbers: 1 – 7 – 6 – 5

Suggested Bet – ROCKTEX WIN

Race 3

ABOUT TURN finished second to Nature’s Reckoning at 1300 last prep in a 3 year old 0MWLY first-up last preparation and then first-up this preparation covered plenty of additional ground behind Point Gibraltar. We’ll see how he goes in a C1 at Belmont on Wednesday as an early look at the form reference but second-up, senior rider on, drawn to either lead or box seat and strikes a really thin maiden – he’s going to be pretty popular either way. ZERO TO SIXTY ran third to Bookends and Dirty Habits three back. Only needs to return to that level to win this. DIAMOND CHOUX has shown glimpses from time to time but can’t buy a barrier. THREESPIRIT was alright on debut and then never in the contest second-up.

Numbers: 3 – 4 – 7 – 12

Suggested Bet – ABOUT TURN WIN

Race 4

ATSUI HARU and TRICKSTER both ran last week at the Bunbury Thursday meeting. ATSUI HARU split Hype Machine and Vampi Queen, beating off Newhaven Prince in the process and TRICKSTER finished a distant third behind Phat Chaps and Saisoku. Going to side up with ATSUI HARU who has no weight on her back after the Jefferson Tsang claim and just looks like she might settle a touch better than her main rival. TRICKSTER has the grounding run at 1600m and if Pike can just get him to switch off a little better in the early stakes then he’ll take holding out late. HISTORY SUPREME was an interesting run on debut. Ran his race in patches, got a bit lost but looked to be hitting top gear late. Wants 2000+. SYLVA JACK was back to 1400 last week which was unsuitable mid-prep.

Numbers: 11 – 9 – 5 – 1

Suggested Bet – ATSUI HARU WIN

Race 5

PUBLICISE has turned a corner recently. Got home well at 1600 behind Vexatious Rose and then finished third to Heaven Specified and I Love Ya Money in a Westspeed Platinum race that looked more like a 60+ Graduation on paper. Right place, right time. TRIPLE THE CHANT has been flying all preparation. She just needs a surface which allows horses to make ground from the back of the field and hopefully that’s the case tomorrow. Her fresh run was out of this world when rattling late at 1200m, second-up got a mile out of her ground in a race dominated from the top and third-up she again powered to the line against the pattern. LATE ARRIVAL was too good for Poblano last start and we’ll see her Wednesday at Belmont. CHANTEL is going well for the new yard.

Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 5

Suggested Bet – PUBLICISE WIN

Race 6

MISS WALL STREET went to Kalgoorlie two back in a 58+ and ifnsihed off nicely into fourth behind Frair’s Legacy. He’s been a bit of an enigma that horse but has always been well respected by the market in C3 / C5 company in town throughout his career and her effort from a long way off them was encouraging. Last start finished 4L off Zeezea (races at Belmont Wednesday). Mack Hall had her accepted for Wednesday and Thursday and has elected to run here in what looks a very winnable race. KELORA has been battling away in 60+ Grad and 66+ company on Saturdays throughout the prep. Brilliantly placed back into a 46+ for an emerging 3kg claimer. COSMIC ECLIPSE is going better than numerical form suggests. HE’S ARCHIE is a 46+ horse.

Numbers: 5 – 6 – 2 – 7

Suggested Bet – MISS WALL STREET EACHWAY

Race 7

RADIANT LIGHT is only the winner of a Kalgoorlie maiden but unlike most country maiden winners has been really solid since returning to town. Did a power of work last start in a C3 behind Romantic Ruler and subsequent Kambalda Cup winner Rainline and now gets back to C1 company, draws to lead and has the 2kg claim of Natika Riordan. Should give plenty of cheek. COSMO RULER went to the line locked together with Articole (since won a C1) first-up last prep before breaking maiden status effortlessly at $1.30 second-up. At her third run she finished third behind Take A Leaf and American Image at 1400 and was given a freshen by Team Williams. Comes into this 5 weeks between runs and reunites with William Pike. COME ON EMMA has been a bit of a tease but she’s got the ability to clear out of C1/C3 grade. CABLE ROCK fought on bravely last start.

Numbers: 5 – 7 – 4 – 11

Suggested Bet – RADIANT LIGHT EACHWAY
