Matt Young’s Tuesday Northam Preview Posted on July 22, 2025July 22, 2025 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 HOT CINDER (2) has won two of her last three and has an abundance of early speed, looks likely to lead and over the mile appears hard to run down. VELVET SHADOW (8) was a good win coming from last in his last win, looks set to get a good run through in the early part and should be closer this week. RAIDANT BAY (1) is capable of a forward showing, she was disappointing last time out but we know Giles Inwood does a good job with his team. TRITTRITTBANGBANG (5) has plenty of high speed and was a better effort last time out and his stablemate ZUEDE (4) will be running on again. THEJEWELINHEREYE (3) creates interest as she is the best performed horse in the race but hasn’t raced for 3 years, happy to watch her first up. Tips: 2 8 1 5 Suggested Bet: HOT CINDER (2) to win. Race 2 BASINGHALL (5) has been racing consistently, and he has a good amount of depth, can do the work where required and I think he can be too strong for his rivals in this. THE FIRST CUT (3) looks the main danger as she is the potential leader and is third up into the preparation and looking at her fourth last time out, was probably better performed than her win at Pinjarra the start prior. FILLMYPOCKET (8) will be running on strongly and shouldn’t settle too far away along with stablemate BY ROYAL COMMAND (9) who is not at his best, but his best is good enough to earn. MISS MARCOPOLO (1) is a novelty player from the draw and therefore brings PICK ME (7) into novelty contention also. Tips: 5 3 8 9 Suggested Bet: BASINGHALL (5) to win. Race 3 RIPPER VIEW (1) burnt hard to hold up in the early stages last time out before tiring late but overall her performance was solid for a race of this nature, she has good gate speed and is a good front runner and dropping back to the mile is also a plus, add it being her fourth run back, I am expecting her to lead and go very close. SPORTING GRACE (2) is still in with claims if she must breeze as she has won from that position before and the distance suits. FOLLOW THE MUSIC (6) is racing well and if the tempo suits, he can negate the wide draw with KEPTAIN COURAGEOUS (4) who just needs some tempo on. CLASSNSMART (8) likely to come into the as he could get a good run throughout. THIS TIME JACKO (2) not at his best on recent runs but won’t be too far away and SLEEK AND SWEET (7) improves when on the rail. Tips: 1 2 6 4 Suggested Bet: RIPPER VIEW (1) to win. Race 4 DAT LOVELY (1) doesn’t have a brilliant record at the distance but hit the line well in decent time in her latest run, early speed is somewhat concerning but it’s also not the fastest front line, think she will go close. DIAMOND WORLD (9) is versatile and can watch things unfold early and be put into the race. MY ULTIMATE KEVVIE (7) is mixing his form, but his last run brings him in with claims at longer odds. KINSAABI (6) is right up there with the best of them on ability but can be a hard horse to catch, same can be said for GET THE BOOTH (5) who is hard to get a gauge on since returning. GOODONYA MATE (8) always a novelty chance and MAJOR CLASS (10) has ability but the draw and coming in fresh a concern. Tips: 1 9 7 6 Suggested Bet: MY ULTIMATE KEVVIE (7) to place. Race 5 DUNCAN TWENTYTWO (5) got the job done on Saturday at Bunbury and there is no reason who cannot win again here, looks hard to beat and has a good amount of depth to suit this race. CIGANDA (4) has the speed to lead and then has options, she normally takes cover, but they may try and lead with her tonight. REPOSSESSION (7) needs some luck but is racing better than her numerical form suggests. BLITZAR (6) will be running on, but this is harder than his most recent win. GRACEFUL SHARK (8) is a novelty player. Tips: 5 4 7 6 Suggested Bet: REPOSSESSION (7) each way. Race 6 ISAIDBOO (6) looks to get into this race well, he has high speed which can be used at either end of the race but with the smallish field and the likelihood that they don’t break the clock on the way home, I think he can sit back and be too strong for his rivals. FIREBALL FRIDAY (3) has come back soundly, lacks early brilliance or top end speed but she won’t be far away in this. ZIGGY VERMEER (8) has upside and can play a part in the finish. CARMELA DOMENICA (1) has the draw to feature in the novelties but a bit like JOLTED CHARM (5) they just aren’t anywhere near their top at this stage. CIAO BABE (2) won’t be too far away, but she has had multiple opportunities. Tips: 6 3 8 5 Suggested Bet: ISAIDBOO (6) to win. Race 7 SOVEREIGN JEWEL (3) looks to be a smart type and the form line from her first career run is slick, she did pace roughly on that occasion so that is a concern but overall, her ability seems to be above average, and she can get the job done. MISS IMPOSING (7) looks a nice type, back row draw on debut but appears ready to run a big race. LIANAKA (1) has the draw and can be an improver into her second race preparation. CONTESSA JULIE (2) and LADY CRUNCH TIME (4) both come into play as novelty contenders. Tips: 3 7 1 4 Suggested Bet: SOVEREIGN JEWEL/MISS IMPOSING to Quinella. Market Market
